Which leads me to wonder, are Coldplay a good choice for this? They've had 12 hit singles (I'm including "Lost!" as it made the top 75) which isn't that many when we have to pick 6 songs. I expect Coldplay will be quite a common choice as they're one of the biggest bands in the UK right now so we could just blend in. I guess it all depends on how creative we are with the choices.

I have no problem with album tracks and even B sides tbh - often they are the better songs by a band!

2)A Rush of Blood to the Head

3)Politic

4)Trouble

5)In My Place

6)Square One

My top 6 Coldplay:

1. Viva La Vida

124 plays on my i-pod cannot be wrong! Easily their best song to date, and wonderfully their transatlantic #1

2. Trouble

An oldie but goldie - the original Coldplay piano-fest

3. Low

Gorgeous album track from X&Y

4. Clocks

The other great piano-fest

5. High Speed

So mellow and simple, but so beautiful

6. I Ran Away

The b-side to The Scientist and understated genius.

But I'm wondering if the people who run this will have a problem with album tracks and B sides? I guess it's not too hard to find them, but as a radio station I'd probably be more inclined to pick singles. But you're right, sometimes the album tracks are the best songs. I know I wouldn't pick all singles for the top 6 songs of my favourite artists.

first and foremost, there is no coldplay playlist without POLITIK (1), brilliant in concert and probably the best example of why their the biggest band atm, (2) Yellow, the classic, (3) Strawberry Swing- haunting but endearing (4) Trouble- shivering lyrics ("oh no, i see a spiderweb...") (5)Violet Hill- a heavy twist to romanticism and (6)Till Kingom come- PLease listen to this if you havent (hidden track on ARBTTH)

as far as rock songs that could have influenced

1 Radiohead- No Surprises (has to be here)

2 U2-One

3 The White Stripes- Hardest Button to Button

4 Travis- Closer

5 Paul McCartney- Live and let die

6 The Whitest Boy Alive- Dreams (bit indie but still)

Coldplay

1. Violet Hill

2. Viva La Vida

3. Fix You

4. Clocks

5. Death And All His Friends

6. In My Place

Other:

1. Placebo - Every You Every Me

2. U2 - With Or Without You

3. Placebo - The Bitter End

4. The Killers - Read My Mind

5. My Chemical Romance - I Don't Love You

6. Franz Ferdinand – Take Me Out
