This disgusts me... Just when the hell are we gonna stop playing kid gloves with these scum and start taking kids away from them, preferably neutering them as well so they cant breed anymore... There really is no excuse for this, a complete dereliction of duty of care to this poor little mite on the part of social services.... These bloody "social workers" need to be held legally responsible for this, it's nothing more than negligence...

I'm sick of hearing the soundbite 'lessons must be learned'. Its about time that child protection and this arm of social services was put ENTIRELY under the control of the police. The police in this instance had advised several times that the child should not be returned to his mother (mother is too kind a word - more the 'thing' that gave birth to this poor unfortunate little being) however the ultimate decision was with the social services.

Totally... I mean, all very well to say innit, but it's obvious that these morons are simply NOT LEARNING the "lesson", they said exactly the same bullsh!t after the Victoria Climbie affair as well <_< .. It makes them sound more like naughty schoolchildren than the incompetent, negligent arseholes they are in reality.... After the Victoria Climbie affair, this alledgedly wasn't supposes to happen to any child ever again.... Yeah, right.... I mean, just how the hell can these idiots so completely go against Police advice. I'm not exactly 100% comfortable with the Police having absolute control over this area, but there sure is something a lot more proactive needs doing.... Perhaps it should be that the Police advice of whether a parent is fit to look after a child is the normal path of going about things, UNLESS there are damn compelling reasons given by the Social Worker to ignore this advice, which they have to justify at some kind of judicial hearing which presents both sides of the case, the Police and the Social Services.. And if the Social Worker gets it wrong and another child dies, then they have to take responsibility for it. The thought that you might be going to prison for negligence and dereliction of duty may persuade a few of these Politically Correct pricks that perhaps the best course of action IS to be a lot more harsh on these scumbag "parents" who treat children like this.....

Bottom line, this child should have been put in the custody of the grandparents with very limited visiting access for the "mother", end of.....

What the hell was going on? All these professionals involved and still this poor little soul was slowly tortured to death.
tortured for 17 months... tip of a finger missing, broken back that a DOCTOR failed to spot?.. strewth...

Yeah, and these idiots kept on believing that the little lad was doing it all to himself....

Some people have tried to make excuses for Social Services, the old "damned if you do, damned if you dont" argument... But this simply does not wash in this particular case where it is blatantly obvious that the home environment itself was completely unsuitable and the fact the child was continually in soiled, dirty clothing; this is even before you take the abuse into consideration, so that child should have been removed on basic health and hygeine grounds even without the factor of abuse, which could have been established later...

The RSPCA takes dogs and cats out of similar environements, and there is NO discussion, no pontificating about the "rights" of the pet owner, straight in there, getting Fido and Tiddles out of a nasty, harmful environement.. So, what are we saying here, that we know how to protect abused and neglected animals more effectively than children.....? That's just totally fukked up if you ask me....

Maybe if the Social Workers in this country were working class grannies instead of middle class bleeding heart liberals we wouldn't have these situations. It seems at social work graduation ceremonies they are all issued with a set of buttons to attach to the backs of their heads....

And as for the 'doctor' who 2 days before the kid died managed to totally miss the fact he had 8 broken ribs and was paralysed because of a broken spine.... Thank f*** she isn't my GP.    How about getting her struck off as well? Her qualification obviously came from a lucky bag.

Ministers 'warned over Haringey'

A whistle-blower warned the government of alleged failings in child protection in Haringey six months before Baby P died, it has emerged.

Former social worker Nevres Kemal sent a letter about her concerns to the Department of Health in February 2007.

It was passed to the Department for Children, Schools and Families, which said proper procedures were followed.

Baby P, 17 months, died in August 2007 following abuse. His mother and two men were convicted of causing his death.

Lawyer Lawrence Davies told BBC Radio 4's Today programme his client's letter expressed worry that children in the borough were "at risk".

This was despite an inquiry into the killing of eight-year-old Victoria Climbie - she died from abuse and neglect in the same borough eight years ago.

Ms Kemal believed recommendations made by Lord Laming following that inquiry were still not being followed.

The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) confirmed it received a letter dated 16 February 2007 that arose from an employment tribunal and contained "an allegation that child protection procedures were not being followed in Haringey".

The letter was sent to the then health secretary, Patricia Hewitt. It was then forwarded on to the DCSF.

Looks like the Government were warned before his death, but no alarm bells rang with them. Shocking- this is the same council that was severely critised before, and they just pass it around till it gets lost in the system. The whistelblower has been gagged by the council----------- sounds like thay are covering up.

The 'whistle-blowing' thing makes me sick. The whole point of the Children's Act was to put the child at the forefront of any case - but they have this clause 'unless of course it means people 'snitching' and making us look as though we can't do our jobs'. Which they obviously can't!

You know when Jupiter said it would be better to use 'working class grannies' - he's absolutely spot-on! I have worked in a council and it seemed that most of the social workers (in fact all the staff right up to upper management) are just after their CPD points so they can go up the salary scale ... caring is way down the list of priorities.

You dont say..... <_<

Disgusting really... I reckon everybody involved in this whole sorry episode who didn't do their jobs properly when they should, should be sacked tbh... And this includes the person at the top of Haringey Social Services.... But of course that aint gonna happen, we'l just get another "enquiry" with "recommendations", and we;ll be back here in a few years time making threads about another kid Haringey Council allows to die through negligence.....

The SS (Social Services) should be ashamed

Nice one... Reminds me of a scene in the 80s revival of Alf Garnett when he's down at the (then) DHSS.... When he rants - "Bloody DHSS......SS is bloody right SEIG HEIL!! SEIG HEIL".......

^ Spot on. I can't add anything to this succinct post.

I also think it's the ridiculous amount of red tape that prevents social workers doing much more to consider the well-being of children in danger.
I also think it's the ridiculous amount of red tape that prevents social workers doing much more to consider the well-being of children in danger.

Oh come on. That's surely not a factor in this case where the advice of Police was blatantly ignored, not to mention the sheer incompetence of the doctor to not even recognise the little lad had fractured ribs and a broken back....

And absolutely NO ONE can seem to answer my point about how those resposible for animal welfare dont even think TWICE about removing a dog or a cat from similiar, hellish environments and yet the same type of people who are supposed to be responsible for child welfare are so up their own Politically Correct arseholes that they totally fail to recognise what's going on in front of their stupid PC faces......

As the NSPCC advert says "Cruelty to children must stop. Full stop....". Yeah, as in NO BLEEDING HEART WHITE, MIDDLE-CLASS LIBERAL EXCUSES..... <_<

Was reading the paper this morning about it, just made me wanted to hit someone with a sledgehammer.

Well i know a story where this social worker went to a house to see a family where the father invited the social workers to come to his house to take the child away because he was physically abusing him. The social worker said they couldn't just take the child away. Well the father picked up the child and threw him against the wall. He said, now do you believe me, and will you take him away? The social worker could not remove that child until she had gone back to her office to get some papers( don't know what they were). Then she had to ring the police, because they have to also be present when a child is removed from the house.... While all this is going on, the child that was left behind while the stupid social workers were collecting papers and ringing the police, could have been tortured even more.

To me the system is all wrong, and it needs to be looked into. In my job, as a carer i see alot of this going on and the social services NEVER EVER do their jobs properly, they are a waste of space, and more children could be protected and saved from these horrible people if only the social services DID what they are suppose to do....PROTECT OUR CHILDREN.

It makes me so ANGRY,

FOR FUKK SAKE!!!!!!! This is exactly what I'm talking about... Could you imagine if someone had picked up a cat or a dog and thrown them against a wall....? There sure as hell would NOT be time wasted filling in fukkin' paperwork.. The animal would be out of there like a shot, no messing..... Why the hell is the Social Services Dept so full of fukkin' do-gooding, liberal PC w/ankers who seem to care more about procedure and the rights of abusive bloody PARENTS than they are with getting the kids out of there... Why is it in this country that we treat animals better than children....? This country makes me fukkin' sick..... <_<

Yes indeed, let's sack all these bloody do-gooder, middle-class liberal tw/ats and get some down-to-earth, old-skool, working class grannies in there.... Give some of these bloody "parents" a good clip round the ear as well to see how they like it.....
