Atleast the best non-qualifiers were at the top of their semi

EDIT: Phil are you sure those results are right? I could have sworn I voted for both Veronicas and Lily

Yes, they are correct.

And you did.

Would you like me to PM you your votes?

If only i'd given Tattoo another two points. Knowing my luck though, that probably would have knocked a song i like more out of the final
I'm the only one who gave only 1 mark to a non-qualifier in the semi 2 :o :o
And yeah poor Kopecka - just missing here plus Serebro [/bjsc6] :kink:
ask Peter, he worked out that statistic :P I'm sure he can explain it, becuase I'm unable to :heehee:

It just got more of the points available than any other song I think...yes there were less songs to choose from, so the small size of the final was a big contributing factor

Yeah, I know how he works it out I've just never agreed with how it works. It's a bit naff.

Contests with more songs (and possibly voters) will find it harder to break the list because the proportion of songs you're giving points will be lower. In BJSC IV people had to give points to more songs than they didn't while recently there are usually 17 songs that miss out on points. I'm not sure I know how to explain it, but I wouldn't pay much attention to it. It doesn't make sense that such 'landslide' winners are below 'Love Song' and WYRMT is below the Pipettes.

I think it's just that a certain proportion of the available votes went to The Pipettes, which was higher than the available proportion that WYRMT received...had Love Song won a contest with 43 countries, it would have also been a 'landslide' winner...

I always compare it to Eurovision, proportionally, Love Shine A Light was one of the most successful winners as it received top marks from nearly every country back in 1997. However, it still has a lower total score than Dima Bilan's Believe that won this year...Dima only got a higher score though because there were more available countries to give him points, he was in no way a more popular winner than Katrina and The Waves, even though he got a higher points total

Yeah and the proportion of votes were higher because you had to give points to 10/19 other countries when we usually have to give points to 10/26 so naturally the points are more spread. I don't think 'Love Song' would have been a 'landslide' winner with more countries voting, it only had a 5 point lead in the end whereas IKAG and WYRMT had a huge lead. Lily Allen and Brandy weren't big winners as the result could have been different with one more set of votes.

I'm not saying 'Love Song' isn't a great song, I love it, but I don't think it's win is anywhere near as major as Katy or Margaret's . It should be obvious that something is up when 4/10 of the 'most successful' entries are all from the same contest, which happens to be the smallest. Especially when three of those songs can't make the final of a 'Best Of', surely the "new wave" aren't that powerful?

sorry, by landslide I thought you meant highest points as opposed to biggest winning margin, my mistake

not that WYRMT's victory was quite the landslide everyone remembers it to be...Pink wasn't that far behind was she...in a smaller contest the points would have been halved and it would have been Margaret 90, Pink 80 or something similar

Katy's win remains the biggest by far I agree...I think Peter needs to shed some light on exactly how he interprets this stat to work  I think I'm getting confused :(

True, her lead was just under 30 points which isn't as impressive as IKAG who led by about 40 or more, but even halved it would be one of the bigger leads.

I think I know how Peter interprets this statistic, I just don't think it works properly because it's obviously somehow biased towards contests with less entries in the final. I don't think there's a fair way to find out the most successful songs without every contest having the same amount of songs in the final and the same amount of voters.

We must also remember that WYRMT was in a larger final and stil failed to score as many points as IKAG and so it is obvious that Margaret stands no chance of winning END OF now let's just call this competition off it is absolutely pointless and i simply can not take the pressure - I nearly wet myself the first time round I really really really can't take it again so pleaaaase don't put me through it  I'm just making the recap vid for the final and everytime Ms Berger's song comes on my heart starts racing I get sweaty palms and have to skip to the next one, it really isnt funny anymore

10th had 77points

WTF AT HOOK ME UP BEING SO LOW. D:

AND MY 3 FAVORITE SONGS NOT MAKING IT THROUGH!

*protests*

Well Wynter made it through though...so no protests for now. But still. :smoke:

I was also surprised at Hook Me Up doing so badly :o brilliant song! One of Mdice's better entries for me

Mdice and FSR Rontvia have the most entries in the final with 4 each, your had 3 that were already there plus Wynter, and I had Sara who was already there, and the three that qualified

We should make a Rejects-ish contest for identifying the best nation :kink: Or making special awards (like BJ awards) :o
Regina, thank god for that, one of the best songs to have ever been sent to this contest

shame for quite a few songs there...not sure that Trashlexis will only be happy with 2 entries but I'm sure he'll be elated that Money Note made it through!

I'm actually elated with two entries, which is what I was aiming for! :cheer:

And LOL at missing out on my other entries by one or two places
