BBC rules out TOTP return

The BBC has rubbished reports that it is set to bring back Top Of the Pops next year.

 

A report in The Times today says that the iconic programme “is expected to return to BBC television in the next year”, quoting music industry sources.

 

However, the BBC says it was not approached by The Times, adding, "Despite continuing speculation, there are currently no plans to bring back a weekly Top of the Pops programme on BBC television."

 

The show was axed by the Corporation in 2006, although returned for Christmas specials in 2006 and 2007. Spin off show TOTP2 is set to return for a run this Christmas.

Is there really some sort of petition online? Coz I wanna sign it -_-

I guess they've figured that, due to EastEnders, Doctor Who and the movie at 3.10pm, they don't want a guaranteed fourth ratings-winner (possibly the show before the Queen's speech?).
