Posted November 17, 200816 yr Id like to know what ACTUALLY makes up the numbers of the record sales each week  Is it only official outlets ie Woolworths, HMV, WHSmith, Virgin Stores etc etc etc that then tally up all the single/album sales from each artist then logs it with the official chart show daily?? Same with downloads, is it only iTunes and artists websites that have an affect on the sales numbers, again they log thier sales daily to the charts and its all accumulated up until 4pm Sunday?? Cheers for any help B)

November 17, 200816 yr Yeah, these days physicals=HMV! Woolworths sell 1-2 per week, for huge artists and Zavvi do some current Rock/Indie ones alongside the band's album instore. Thats about it sadly. Oh, and Amazon and HMV online do fair business in them Download sites also include Woolworths and 7Digital is pretty big independent. Record company sites sometimes do their own thing as as u and martin mentioned artist websites, itunes etc. Hope that helps? The D/L market share by various websites/services isn't something that seems to be known at the mo- well sure someone (ie. OCC) knows but their not telling! Edited November 17, 200816 yr by spicefunk
November 18, 200816 yr Reggie Yates and Fearne Cotton pick CDs out of a hat during the Chart Show on Radio1. All CDs are eligible, except for Anastacia's new one, as it's not even deserving of an accidental top 40 position.
November 18, 200816 yr Not being funny, coz I know this sounds weird, but do things like Limewire count towards em?:P
November 18, 200816 yr Not being funny, coz I know this sounds weird, but do things like Limewire count towards em?:P Erm, no. That's illegal downloading. I know we all do it, but it doesn't bring any money to the artists or the labels. Edited November 18, 200816 yr by TomKay
