And Beyonce is still hanging on for dear life, though Brandon Flowers and his Killers boys are snapping at her heels. So who'll be number one next week? Take That have a good shot with the new single. They're already number one on airplay, so it shouldn't be too far out of their reach. But could it be the Killers? Or Katy Perry? Come back next week and find out! By the way, I should be able to post a retro later in the week. It will be from this week in a past year, but let me know what year you'd like and I'll try and do it. Cheers! Edited November 28, 200816 yr by TomKay
November 24, 200816 yr Nice high new entry for Christian Falk & Robyn, I prefer this chart Anyhow gave me a reason to bump the topic up :P
November 24, 200816 yr Author Thanks Mart!n. Yep, considering the outcry about Robyn flopping, I've made sure people notice this chart now :) Great song I agree.
November 25, 200816 yr Ohh. Great for Snow Patrol. Hope CTS is a huge success.. Prefer it much more than TBTC, which ironically just dropped out
November 26, 200816 yr *bumps chart back up again* Quite an interesting chart there mate ^_^ I presume if you would have the Airplay 100, the chart will look far better :teresa: I look forward for C+ to get back, and see what combination chart will be when you'll combine the airplay 100 with the Uk 100  xox.
November 26, 200816 yr Author Thanks Corholio. Yeah it definitely would, I can't wait for the Bullboard Hot 100 :) Sp, any takers for a retro?
November 27, 200816 yr Thanks Corholio. Yeah it definitely would, I can't wait for the Bullboard Hot 100 :) Sp, any takers for a retro? Can we have same time , 1998 please? ^_^ I guess it was the best year in music xox.
November 27, 200816 yr Author Yeah that's cool. I already did it for last week, so I'll just need to do one chart instead of two. Will try to sort that out in the morning.

Tamperer, E17 and Eagle-Eye Cherry doing WAY better here, Sash! and Vengaboys (sadly) doing much worse. Steps beginning to pick up with their biggest hit ever. Future big hits here for Robbie Williams (not as big as it should have been), All Saints (ditto), Bryan Adams and the Spice Girls here, amongst others. Hope you enjoyed this, and fingers crossed I'll be publishing another retro tomorrow - would you like 1993, 2003 or 2007?
November 27, 200816 yr I'm your angel, was such a choon  Well I personally would like to see 1993. Now it depends on others what they prefer for the retro :cheer: xox.
November 27, 200816 yr Author Loved it too, but for some reason it wasn't that big an airplay hit, not at first at least. No problem for 1993, I can sort that out for tomorrow. I think you're the only one reading this thread now Cornholio  Edited November 27, 200816 yr by TomKay
November 28, 200816 yr Author Well, for Corholio, and anyone else who might be interested, here's the retro for this week in 1993: This week/change/artist/title/sales position :no1: MEAT LOAF I'd Do Anything For Love (1) 2 Bryan ADAMS Please Forgive Me (3) 3 Dina CARROLL Don't Be A Stranger (4) 4 4 Janet JACKSON Again (6) 5 4 SOUL ASYLUM Runaway Train (7) 6 2 CULTURE BEAT Got To Get It (5) 7 1 Pauline HENRY Feel Like Making Love (17) 8 1 Mariah CAREY Hero (9) 9 8 Elton JOHN & Kiki DEE True Love (2) 10 5 URBAN COOKIE COLLECTIVE Feels Like Heaven (8) 11 5 STING Demolition Man (23) 12 2 UNLIMITED Maximum Overdrive (15) 13 9 JAZZY JEFF & THE FRESH PRINCE I'm Looking For The One (To Be WIth Me) (27) 14 3 CAPPELLA U Got 2 Let The Music (12) 15 19 WONDER STUFF, The Full Of Life (Happy Now) (28) JOINT HIGHEST CLIMBER  16 3 GUNS'N'ROSES Ain't It Fun (14) 17 4 Michael BOLTON Said I Loved You But I Lied (21) 18 8 Whitney HOUSTON Queen Of The Night (48) 19 7 LEFTFIELD LYDON Open Up (30) 20 7 JAMES Laid (39) 21 K-KLASS Let Me Show You (13) HIGHEST NEW ENTRY :ne: 22 8 WET WET WET Shed A Tear (49) 23 1 Phil COLLINS Both Sides Of The Story (NA) 24 Kate BUSH Moments Of Pleasure (26) 25 2 HEART Will You Be There (In The Morning) (19) 26 AUTEURS, The Lenny Valentino (41) 27 DOOBIE BROTHERS, The Long Train Runnin (10) 28 Belinda CARLISLE Lay Down Your Arms (33) 29 1 GOODMEN, The Give It Up (11) 30 19 M PEOPLE Don't Look Any Further (NA) JOINT HIGHEST CLIMBER  31 4 INCOGNITO Givin' It Up (NA) 32 10 CROWDED HOUSE Nails In My Feet (22) 33 5 Cyndi LAUPER That's What I Think (43) 34 1 Lesley GARRETT And Amanda THOMPSON Ave Maria (16) 35 4 Terence Trent D'ARBY Let Her Down Easy (18) 36 18 M PEOPLE Moving On Up (18) 37 NAUGHTY BY NATURE Hip Hop Hooray (20) 38 23 SHAMEN Comin' On Strong (NA) FASTEST FALLER  39 14 TIME FREQUENCY, The Real Love '93 (24) 40 9 ORB, The Little Fluffy Clouds (25) 41 U2 Stay (Faraway, So Close) (NA) 42 EAST 17 It's Alright (NA) 43 7 CAPTAIN HOLLYWOOD PROJECT More And More (29) 44 24 ETERNAL Stay (NA) FASTEST FALLER  45 12 FRANKIE GOES TO HOLLYWOOD Welcome To The Pleasuredome (31) 46 APHEX TWIN On (32) 47 10 LEVELLERS, The This Garden (NA) 48 ONYX Throw Ya Gunz (34) 49 LEMONHEADS, The It's About Time (NA) 50 4 HOUSE OF VIRGINISM I'll Be There For You (Dooya Doodoo Dooya) (35) The top three actually have the exact same number of points this week, so Meatloaf is hanging on to number one by the skin of his teeth. Quite likely he'll have to give it up in the following week. What I'm intending to do from next week onwards by the way, is to publish edited retros - top 10 or 20 for 1993, 1998 and 2003 and/or 2007. Would that be OK or would people prefer to see the full charts? Also does my addition of the sales positions for comparison help, or just show up that this chart isn't based on raw data? Next week's chart might be a little late, having another weekend away :) Hopefully it will be with you sometime monday though :)
November 28, 200816 yr Oddly enough, the 1993 chart is the most diverse chart of the three. I mean, Aphex Twin, Belinda Carisle, K-Klass, & Kate Bush in the same chart? :D You don't see that every day!
November 28, 200816 yr Author That's true. It was actually a really diverse time for music. Aphex Twin wasn't getting much airplay, but the other three were :)
November 28, 200816 yr That's true. It was actually a really diverse time for music. Aphex Twin wasn't getting much airplay, but the other three were :) Yep, even after the Radio 1 playlist scandal back in 1993 when successful acts were automatically playlisted because of their status, not because of the actual songs. :P You could also try making a "Retro" Bullboard chart for 1990 from the UK Music Week Playlist charts of 1990 However, the UK Playlist Airplay charts were compiled from how many stations playlisted the track and the station playlists were weighted according to the overall popularity of the station. ;) Edited November 28, 200816 yr by 99 Red Balloons
November 28, 200816 yr Author Great chart! Thanks for this Tom, it's very interesting to read :o No problem :D So people do read this... :) Oh and 99RB (forgot your real name now sorry!) I might do that. Right now I have official charts going back to 1991, but I'm trying to get hold of an airplay chart that Radio 1 broadcasted in the 70s and 80s. Unfortunately the early charts are really volatile and change wildly from week to week, which makes the chart look really weird, although as the sales chart was reasonably stable in the early 90s, it's not *that* bad. November 28, 200816 yr Author I will, when I get hold of them. I think davetaylor is trying to get hold of them for me...
