Posted November 25, 200817 yr The Killers leading Guns N' Roses in epic chart battle 11:17 | Tuesday November 25, 2008 By Ben Cardew The Killers have taken the lead in the competition to top this week’s albums chart, with their Day And Age (Vertigo) outselling Guns N’ Roses long-awaited new album Chinese Democracy (Polydor) by around 20,000 copies, in what is likely to be one of the biggest chart battles of the year. In its first day of sale Day And Age sold 70,764 copies to Chinese Democracy’s 50,791, according to midweek sales figures that see five new entries in the top ten. These are: Rhydian’s eponymous debut album (Syco) at three, with 33,937 sales; The Priests’ eponymous debut (Epic) at four with 19,688 sales and Kanye West’s 808s and Heartbreaks (Mercury) at six with 16,530 sales. Only Men Aloud’s self-titled debut (UCJ) is currently sat at 11, on sales 11,276, while Coldplay’s Prospekt’s March EP (Parlophone) is at 18 on sales of 8,161. Elsewhere, new albums from the Salvation Army (UCJ), Alesha Dixon (Asylum), Lemar (Epic) and John Barrowman (Epic) look set for top forty entries, while new albums from Lesley Garrett (UCJ) and Paul McCartney’s The Fireman (One Little Indian), Linkin Park’s live album Road To Revolution – Live At Milton Keynes (Warner Bros), Craig David’s Greatest Hits (Warner Bros) and the soundtrack to Britannia High (Fascination) look set to enter the top 70. On the singles chart Take That’s Greatest day looks certain to top the chart on Sunday, after selling 24,666 units on day of release, ahead of current chart topper, Beyoncé’s If I were A Boy. ============================= Singles 01 Take That 24,666 02 Beyonce 11,2k 03 The Killers 10,4k 04 T.I. feat. November 25, 200817 yr God, with so MANY album releases I can see many albums falling of the top 10 or even top 20 this week!
November 25, 200817 yr Will beyonce remain top 20 with her album? Could be a close one. I guess at least 10 of these new releases will be top 20 this week, so it will be very very difficult for last week's top 10 albums to maintain a top 20 position. There's so much competition in this Xmas period! I hope sales are still good, though.
November 25, 200817 yr Rumours abound that Rhydian's sales in Woolworths have saved the high street retailer from imminent financial administration. Could he challenge the big two?
November 25, 200817 yr Rumours abound that Rhydian's sales in Woolworths have saved the high street retailer from imminent financial administration. Could he challenge the big two? OMG! i reckon he is definately in with a chance :) I really hope Alesha's album makes top 20!

November 25, 200817 yr Prediction I think, it's too early for the official midweeks. Anyway I hope Same Difference get a good top 10 position, and that The Killers is number one album.
November 25, 200817 yr is that official rob? same difference are number 6 in the midweeks? i hope so :D
November 25, 200817 yr OMG! Same Difference must be selling Loads of Physical's! :yahoo: I can't believe there already at #6 and i don't think they have peaked on Itunes yet! Poor Alesha I was hoping for top 20!
