To be honest a top 10 for a foreign language song is good. The first few contests were so different, I don't think the ones that did well then would do as great now. 'Opium', 'Ella Elle L'a' and 'Rosa Pastel' did well to finish top 10. It takes something special to do that in another language. That said, I still think 'Opium' was overrated/hyped. It's alright but I wouldn't call it amazing.

 

I was referring to 'Headhunted' with the monkey sounds comment by the way. ;) I don't know quite how I would describe Camille - a cat being strangled? :heehee:

 

Headhunted and Money Note were both songs you either get or you don't...I appreciate that Headhunted sounds like a joke, although having started to follow Mira's wider career, Headhunted is one of the saner tracks in her back catalogue :heehee: she's just a bit oddball, as is Camille evidently :P

 

Opium was more overhyped than overrated I think, I remember a lot of people predicting that it would win, but few actually declared their love for it...and it showed when the points came in :cry: I still believe that a foreign language song will do well one day...

I'm a bit disappointed that I don't 'get' those two songs, as there's obviously something very good about them. I know it took an effort for me to get into M.I.A. and Santogold at first which was very worth it. I just can't 'get' those two tracks, though Camille was slightly less awful when the Best Of came around. (still fairly unlistenable for me though :lol:) I guess I was just very disappointed to hear 'Headhunted' after 'Mine All Mine' and everyone else's positive reactions.

 

I think Kate Ryan is about the best a foreign language song will do, it's the only one that's ever tempted me to award it some points.

I agree on both points - I was just glad that Camille was marmite enough to come top ten twice :wub: And Opium was very overhyped - it didn't help that odds were monopolised by the people who loved it at the time! :lol: I thought I was going to win until Elena Risteska overtook me :cry: I was just grateful that I managed to come top ten in the end :lol:

 

I think Se Lazam Sebe is the limit at 6th tbh :cry:

There are some songs that are very wtf!?!? :huh:

 

But there are a couple of gems in their/ What's My Name off Tribal Dreams being one.

Opium was overhyped and overrated by those doing the odds. Although it did score some points from me.

 

Black Butta and I Don't Know were underrated totally and utterly until the last couple of days when both shot up the odds to the top (well, Lily was quite high up, she became top3 everywhere when people started to predict it could win)

 

Although i am gutted that i didn't win in what was honestly my best bet at the top so far, i hold no grudge because it was beaten by an epic song.

 

Pissed off Hometown Glory got more points in the best of however <_<

Moi Lolita. :arrr: (Stopped Santogold from going top 10 on tie-break) I expected Kate Ryan to go top 5 as well, I think it's a good song and probably the only song I'd listen to from this that isn't in English, 6th was still a decent finish though.

I don't think Black Butta ever did that well in the odds, although I did drastically shorten them as time went on before my infamous declaration that I expected that it could be a dark horse and win :kink:
