Two new characters cast:

Dodger's real dad Patrick (played by Jeremy Sheffield!) and his hitherto unknown twin sister Sienna (naturally). On screen in November.

Can't say I'm particularly fussed, but I'm sure this will create waves with the DS loons.

It seems like a very SYMBOLIC comeback. Kirkwood seems to have a strong vision for the show. I think he's a slightly dull actor but if they get rid of Bart then I'm MORE than game for that.

Frankie getting more screen time has pleased me recently. Love her!

The problem with the teens is that very few of them show any growth whatsoever. Characters can only get away with being the greatest girl band in the world if they are either meant to be a deeply psychotic villain, or if they are shown to learn from the mistakes and try and "reform". Few of the teens are showing any signs of that. You would think either one of having his aunt go to prison to cover for him, or almost drowning in the bath, would have convinced Bart it's perhaps time to change his ways, but there's no remorse, guilt or willingness to grow up whatsoever, so why on earth are viewers expected to care about him or his "great romance" with the increasingly nasty bully Sinead? And let's not get started on Maddie, or the hideously two-faced Ruby who seems more concerned with ruining her supposed best friend's life than her surrogate family's dying-baby-crisis. The sole "HELL YEAH" moment last week was George calling Sinead out for being a vile bitch.

If it wasn't for his blind adoration of Maddie, George would be a pretty great character. I much prefer him with Callum and the Kanes than the sixth form bunch. I also like the deaf guy (Dylan?). I say axe Maddie, Sinead, Ruby, Tilly, Jono and Bart; keep Esther, Callum, Lacey, Dylan, George, Neil.

 

Anyone think it was totally random that Liam and Diane were having dinner with Ash and Ally? Have they ever interacted before?!

Maddie would be better if there was some kind of story with her (unless I missed it). At the moment it just seems like she's a bitch for the sake of being a bitch. I pretty much agree with your axing and keeping Jark. Esther is by far my favourite of the teens (and Phoebe).

I forgot Phoebe! She and Lacey are my favourites by a mile. Phoebe is a brilliant bitch because she actually has good reason to be. Plus unlike Maddie she has a fabulous bitch smirk. :D

I'd pretty much go with that list, with the exception of Tilly who I think does still have potential provided she stops stalking Jen, and returns to being the sage old lesbian she was when she first appeared.

And yes, Phoebe is marvellous. She, unlike Maddie, isn't a straight-up bitch in the sense that she aims her vitriol for those who deserve it, whilst defending to the death those she considers to be in need (George, Esther). Very much following in Jacqui's footsteps.

 

The Diane/Liam/Ash/Ally thing was completely random and felt very disjointed. I suspect there's still some last minute editing going on and we've been missing some scenes, because I got the impression we're supposed to believe there's something romantic building up between Liam/Diane, despite the lack of onscreen airtime for the pair actually showing this.

Well Liam/Diane live together so maybe that's a reason a romance may/could happen!

I'm not feeling Liam. I'm glad they haven't done the obvious and made him a player who shags his way around the village but he's pretty dull/wooden and that accent is bloody ridiculous!

 

I wonder where the Esther storyline is going to end up? I'm thinking maybe sucide? Wouldn't surprise me if Frankie kicks Ruby out(so ungreatful) I wonder when Mitzeee will get out of jail!

I love that this at least the third time she's swanned back into the house, taken them all by surprise and claimed to be sober. She'll be glugging champagne from the bottle at Lynsey's memorial wake in Chez Chez no doubt. :D

'At least' two characters are going to die next month. Cindy and Tony have a joint wedding ceremony with Doug and Ste. Maddie is driving a minibus full of the teenagers to Ruby and Jono's wedding (LOL) and crashes it at the scene of the double wedding so it could be basically anyone who dies. PLEASE BE MADDIE/SINEAD. I BEG OF THEE! I've got a nasty feeling it will be Cindy though, and maybe Doug.
