Just my opinion. But I guess this all adds excitement

these points can all be explained :P

[*] Most of the autoqualifiers entries tend to be ignored/flop not always, many autoqualifiers do quite respectably, only really Quotosibb and FSR Rontvia have had shameful flops when hosting and from Pavel's reaction, I would assume that Eledan aren't doing as well as he might have hoped

[*] Controvertial qualifiers and non qualifiers it's the nature of the contest people have different views on which songs they do or don't like, even though I'm rather sad that Boney M made the final over Vincent, they went through fair and square because they got more points, and that's fair enough

[*] Cheap entries doing well which ones in particular? and some people don't mind sending/voting for cheap songs

[*] Noticing which countries never give you votes, every contest.. Make you think a bit. differing music tastes of the poster behind the country and yourself...I wouldn't expect points from a country like BANG as we like completely different types of music...in the same way, it's a rare occasion that I would vote for some of the obscure indie/alternative songs that rarely interest me

[*] The female artist and pop favouritism. that's just what Buzzjack is like...just look at TIP's Record of the Decade game, a forgettable No.7/8 UK hit from Sugababes/Britney Spears will always finish higher than a pop classic like Life Is A Rollercoaster by Ronan Keating, but you learn to accept it!

[*] Luck and karma needing to fit together with that perfect entry :o I still think it's all about picking the song that has the most universal appeal to all of the voters in the BJSC...if you have that then you are on your way to victory...clearly this means a solo female artist

Interesting, Kath :o

I agree on some points :kink:

Makes my last 3 previous attempts rather cheap non  I had to come back with a big comeback :heehee:

And I found my next entry, which might surprise a few people, its kinda catchy :D once it gets going, but you have to listen to it in full you can't listen to it in 30 seconds.

People giving points to the same countries is hardly a susprise. I'm far more likely to give points to a country such as BaNG, Mdice or Rivandia than I am to Ojnoj or Lorikeet purely because the first three's tastes are far nearer to mine. I can't help that. :|

As for the other points, none of them really stand up. It's always been the way that auto-qualifiers don't do that well (oh, and I can't stand either of the two from this contest. Sorry. :  ). Controversial.... what? Yes, some may be more deserving but people vote for what they like, if more people like Rasputin than my entry then so be it, I'm not going to change for the sake of change! Cheap entries? Well maybe they're also bloody good songs! This is a SONG contest after all! Female favourism? Have you ever READ this site?! :|

I think I will vote tomorrow - I'm Deandria.

No need to remind, we (me especially :heehee: ) know countries under the usernames ;)

I hope for your sake that Lisa doesn't flop in the final, you seem to think this is the best song ever sent to BJSC :kink:

it is rather pleasant though

I wouldn't say I can't stand the two in this contest, more that they are completely 'old-skool BJSC' - female singer songwriter with pleasant but not groundbreaking song whereas this contest seems to be more about the electro pop breaking through and more diversirty in song choices (cue a win for Nonsuch or Eledan :kink:)

having said that, I rated one of the two as a 6/10 and one an 8/10 and the latter was quite good I thought

Agreed completely. There are a few countries I can't really ever foresee myself voting for be cause they consistently send fairly poor songs imo, and then there are countries that always send entries I like. Can't help that fact.

Yet when I as going to enter Ladyhawke - My Delirium you were one of the vocal ones to give a negative reaction to it due to its apparent cheapness even though Ladyhawke has never had a UK Top 40 hit whih the midweeks suggest this stand out track from her debut album will fail to break, so I switched it (albeit to a song I absolutely love which has topped my Personal Chart for the past 3 weeks). Whilst if you'd listen to it I don't think it is female singer songwriter at all. Musically it has more in common with Coldplay, Keane or a-ha than Lilith Fair type acts.

There are a good 7 or 8 songs in this Final that are a lot cheaper than that track & artist IMHO.

finally botanikka have sent theit votes...i am at home for holidays and thats the reason I missed results for semi and probably im gonna miss results for final night :( aswell but Im gonna find a time to check the next morning...good luck to everyone.

Ok - in January I will try my very very best to send a song which, for once, you will enjoy - I shall make it my life's mission! ^_^

I liked your last entry a lot? o.o I gave it like four points, too. ;o

very true, and countries don't always swap points either.

Although, had you made it to the final, i'd have given Utopia their first Ashtonise points

It looks like i always give points to rich (Rontvia) but i always like what they send, exception being BJSCIII

I believe I was supporting your other two artists, Bishi and Emmy The Great over Ladyhawke because they were a bit different. Lisa Miskovsky was never one of your proposed entrants, you said that you changed your mind from Emmy to Lisa because you thought she had top 3 potential and you yourself said that Ladyhawke had 'become too cheap to enter' because it had gained better airplay and videoplay than her other singles!

Despite what others say, we are indiviually one of 45 participants giving our personal opinion, you should always follow your own gut instinct when picking entries...Ladyhawke could have got 12 points off the other 44 countries! I was just giving my opinion not saying that everyone else would agree with me!

oh, and I remember what the melody of Lisa's song keeps reminding me of >>> Westlife's Us Against The World :o

It's got so empty here  More speculating needed!

You shouldn't take an opinion of ONE person for the decision of YOUR song choice. Seems a bit silly.

it's why I never ask for opinions really...you can't assume that if someone says 'it's a good song' that you will end up getting points from them...

what if 'it's a good song' means it's an 8/10 but there are ten or more 9/10 records in the competition? I feel guilty telling people they have a good song and then not voting for it but it's the nature of the beast, we only have ten votes to distribute to 28 songs
