OK, well I know it's really hard to judge without a lead single or anything, but is anyone else expecting them to not sell as well this era?

Not that it really matters as they'll still sell out massive venues, football grounds, be festival headliners etc. but i'm not sure whether the album will perform as well as the previous two did. From the dark tone we've been hearing of, i'm not sure whether it will hit off with the more 'casual' fans. I'd expect 200k first week sales, but then unless it's got a belter of a 2nd single then i'm not sure how well it will sell.

Again like I said, it's not that it matters as Arctic Monkeys' bank balance will be the ones laughing at the end of the day, but I just thought it'd be nice to see what other people thought.

I'm not sure if the Josh Homme influence will help it, as QOTSA arent much of a commercial act (apart from being massive), but personal expectations... im expecting a better album than FWN, i am certainly looking forward to it more than i did for FWN, although it may not be better than WPSIAIWIAN, which is a classic, but i was never excited for that because that is the album that made me hear the genius of them

Yeah I know what you mean. I think this album will be quite different tbh. I know in patches, FWN was quite dark, but it had some really fun songs on it too. I'm not sure whether this will be the case with the new album. Josh Homme will obviously bring that much darker tone to the album, but James Ford is still producing some tracks (and is the main producer iirc) so hopefully there'll be a little influence from FWN on the album.

I think it might do very well critically, but i'm not so sure commercially.

I absolutely HATED FWN to begin with. I'd heard the leaked tracks, and also Flourescent Adolescent and I LOVED FA and 505, but I wasn't too keen on the other leaked tracks. Then when I heard the album I just didn't know what to make of it. Was pretty different, but then after a few listens I fell in love with it! I think I even prefer it to WPSIATWIN.

I liked WPSIATWIN, but I never really thought it was amazing and definitely overrated, as far as getting the Mercury Prize anyway.

I much preferred FWN, there's only one song that I'm not too keen on - Only Ones Who Knew. Apart from that, I adore absolutely every song.

As far as expectations from the 3rd album, I really can't predict until I've heard something from it (not saying I'll be able to reliably predict then...) but it'll no doubt be a #1 for them, with pretty big sales. Not sure if it'll do as well as either of the first two albums, as from the news about it so far, it definitely sounds less commercial. It depends if it has that 'killer' first single.

For me, Brianstorm was a perfect lead single. Really set out the feeling of the second album and it is definitely my favourite AM song, probably will be forever.

I really hope I like the new material, but I'm not too keen on QOTSA (haven't heard much of their stuff, admittedly, but I think it's probably too heavy for me :()

I've said already many times that I don't think this will do as well as the last two commercially at all! Though I do expect it to sell more than Last Shadow Puppets though. But it's the fact that they care more about the music they make than what they sell that makes them so good! The difference between WPSIATWIN and FWN demonstrated their creativity and I'm sure that this album will be no different. I expect a much darker and possibly heavier feel to this record with the Josh Homme influence on it. I didn't think they'd top the first album but the second one turned out to be better so I expect that whatever it sounds like it'll be good and they'll have another mercury nomination as per usual.

I also expect the majority of the Buzzjack dynamic to misunderstand and say things like 'LOLZ ZOMG FLOP *FLUSH* NO ONE LIKES DEM ANYMORE, THEY'RE NEXT ALBUM WILL FLOP AND THE QUEENS RIRI, LELE AND DUDU WILL RULE DA WORLD' *ahem* etc.

I agree with what you say Nicky! But I think this album will sell what The Last Shadow Puppets have sold in its first WEEK. It's just after the first 2/3 weeks I expect sales to tail off completely, and never really hit ground again... unless they've got a few killers singles!

i expect a very good album.these guys can do no wrong.

but...i m not sure about the sales....good indie releases cant sell a lot these days...

Tbh, with two big albums like that and lots of critical acclaims, it doesn't really matter how their third album goes. I'd much prefer a Favourite Worst Nightmare type album myself. It'll defiantly sell at least 500,000 though in the UK, because it'll generate lots of hype.

It'll definitely be more like the 2nd album than the 1st imo. Only more heavier than the 2nd album!
