A third sequel to the successful American Pie franchise is reportedly in development.

 

American Pie 4 will likely focus on the characters of Jim and Michelle following on from their wedding, according to Moviehole.

 

The original American Pie was released in 1999 and grossed around $235 million (£162.4 million) worldwide. It was followed by American Pie 2 and American Wedding, which each grossed over $200 million (£138.1 million) at the box office.

 

A trio of straight-to-DVD spinoffs - American Pie Presents: Band Camp, American Pie Presents: The Naked Mile and American Pie Presents: Beta House - have also been released.

 

Producers Universal Pictures were reportedly impressed by the success of the spinoff movies and believe that a fourth cinematic feature could be a profitable venture.

 

The original films starred Jason Biggs, Sean William Scott and Alyson Hannigan, but no cast members have yet been announced for the latest project.

 

I hope they do. The spin offs are an alright follow on. Not the best if you compare to the original series but you still get a few laughs

There's still a demo for American Pie? Jeez, it seems so dated now. The original and sequel were cool at the time, and fun to look back on I suppose, but it's time to move on.

But at the time it was so fresh. It pretty much re-invented teen movies. Now, 10 years on, it's the same $h!t. Everyone knows what party boys get up to. The franchise is riding on a name built a decade ago when it was all new.

^ Seconded. And I haven't read the thread fully but is it a continuation or a "10 years on from the wedding" type thing. If it was the latter surely it wouldn't work anyway because they'd have matured and stuff :/; and Stifler's simpleton-esque funny ways would DIE. A lot like Joey from Friends </3.
