May 8, 200916 yr Delighted that that the new BEP song is in the top ten, it's class! As ashamed as I am to say it, I do rather like the new Miley Cyrus song.... I think it will become her first Irish top ten hit next week. Also pleased that La Roux are on the brink of the top 20, but kind of surprised that it's taking this long. Kind of annoyed that U2 are in the top five, but I predict a huge plunge next week. As for Ireland's eurovision entry new at No.15, I think it may climb a place or two next week, but will fall off the chart within a couple of weeks when we finish last in next Thursdays semi final with 7 points (6 from the UK and 1 from Poland, methinks!) Anyone else continue to be amazed at the success of both Poker Face and The Fame???

May 8, 200916 yr Unfortunately you're wrong about the Eurovision entry - we can't vote in your semi-final, so it will just be the one from Poland :kink: Seriously though I wish you the best of luck. I hope Jade Ewen charts in Ireland next week - is she on iTunes there?
May 8, 200916 yr Author Et Cetcera is brilliant - though that doesn't always mean anything in Eurovision! :) Given the criticism over last year's entry I'm slightly surprised that this one has gone in 10 places lower! Dustin's chart run was 5 5 7 11 8 13 22 39
May 8, 200916 yr Author For many years I tended to prefer the UK's song but this year's is a load of .... I've been trying to find Et Cetera to download but have had no luck on any of the UK sites. Still its on the Eurovision album which I was led to believe is getting a UK release on Monday (11th). It appears to have been given an Irish release last week as it charts at 18 on the compilation chart. The 2008 edition entered the chart at 24 dropped out for a week re-entered at 14 before a final week at 25. 2007's spent a solitary week at 22.
May 9, 200916 yr Unfortunately you're wrong about the Eurovision entry - we can't vote in your semi-final, so it will just be the one from Poland :kink: Seriously though I wish you the best of luck. I hope Jade Ewen charts in Ireland next week - is she on iTunes there? Yeah she's on the Irish iTunes, but no sign of her in the top 100 so far I'm afraid! UK eurovison entrys haven't done well on the Irish charts recently. Javine got to No.32 with Touch My Fire and Scooch, of all people, charted at No.48 with Flying The Flag For You. And I can't believe that the UK can't vote in our semi-final! You were our only hope!!
May 9, 200916 yr Et Cetcera is brilliant - though that doesn't always mean anything in Eurovision! :) Given the criticism over last year's entry I'm slightly surprised that this one has gone in 10 places lower! Dustin's chart run was 5 5 7 11 8 13 22 39 Do you really think it's that good? I think it sounds like an Avril Lavigne B-side from 2003 to be honest! And I think we are on 2nd on Thursday night, we'll be forgotten about instantly. I hope not though!
May 9, 200916 yr Author It reminds me of a band called Bubblegun who had a single out a few years ago which sadly did nothing. Actually the guy behind them - Niall Mooney - is one of the writers of Et Cetera.

A trio of new entries from a diverse group of Irish artists breathes life into this week’s Album Chart. Laura Izibor has the highest of these with her hotly-anticipated debut ‘Let the Truth be Told’ at No2. John Spillane is new at No9 with his compilation ‘So Far So Good, Like’, just ahead of Director who come in at No11 with their second album ‘I’ll Wait For Sound’. Tinchy Stryder and N-Dubz take a second week at No1 on the Singles Chart with ‘Number 1’, ahead of two songs boosted back up the chart by a CD release – Eminem’s ‘We Made You’ at No2 and Lily Allen’s ‘Not Fair’ at No3. Black Eyed Peas continue their steady climb through the rankings, up to No4 this week with downloads of ‘Boom Boom Pow’, their tenth Irish hit single including three No1’s. Not far behind is another steady climber - Carolina Liar with ‘Show Me What I’m Looking For’, up from No11 to No7. In a quiet week for new entries, Katy Perry has the highest at No30 with downloads of her third hit single ‘Waking Up In Vegas’. Shaky Fan's Commentary Well still not doing great (and after Thursday not likely to do any better) but Sinead Mulvey & Black Daisy manage to climb 1 place. Elsewhere an interesting situation with Miley Cyrus beside herself at 11 and 12 (both climbers) and Kelly Clarkson doing the same further down with a faller at 32 and a new entry at 33. A unique occurance on what is the 150th download chart - no newcomers as last week's Top 20 rearranges itself. Finally Enda Murphy who is standing in again for Larry Gogan seems to be playing random selections from the Top 40 - starting with 37 35 James Morrison ft Nelly Furtado - Broken Strings, then 18 20 Noisettes - Don't Upset The Rhythm followed by 05 15 U2 - Magnificent and then into the Top 10. May 15, 200916 yr Weird that Carolina Liar are already big in Ireland - unless they're Irish? Surprised Tinchy stayed at number one, and BEPs are only at number 4... are physical sales still quite big in Ireland?
May 15, 200916 yr Paparazzi's already top 40. http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z18/topmantim/worship.gif
May 15, 200916 yr Author According to Wikipedia..... Carolina Liar is an American rock band based out of Los Angeles. Lead vocalist Chad Wolf is originally from Charleston, South Carolina, but the band and most of its members originate from Sweden.[1] Never heard of them myself! Every time I read it I think of "Carolina Rua" which was a big hit for Mary Black - maybe people are downloading it thinking thats what it is!
May 15, 200916 yr  Popjustice raves about them, not their usual thing, but they are produced by Max Martin, hence the orgasming
May 15, 200916 yr Author Re: the physical sales thing - its hard to say though looking at the charts this week it would seem they must be holding up - Eminem & Lily Allen are slightly higher up on the main chart - presumably given the fact that the physical versions were available this week. The best recent example I can think of was Get On Your Boots which entered the main chart at no 1 while only appearing at no 13 on that week's download chart. Edited May 15, 200916 yr by Shaky Fan
May 15, 200916 yr When I first seen the name 'Carolina Liar', I thought it's a female pop star.
May 22, 200916 yr Interesting singles and album charts today. :) But I will not spoil it that early. :P
