After a little searching, im not sure if i am posting this in the correct place but im sure someone will correct me quick enough if i am wrong :)

10 years ago this week, the top 5 singles had all been number one. all of them (except cher) had only spent one week at the top.

Has there been any other time when this has occured or bettered ?.

even better were the overall (not weekly!) sales of these songs:

1 Heartbeat / Tragedy - 1,152,000

2 Goodbye - 833,500

3 Chocolate Salty Balls - 850,900

4 Believe - 1,672,000

5 To You I Belong - 440,000+

(6 When You're Gone - 635,000)

Heartbeat sold 98,000 copies this week in 1999 to reach number one in its 8th week on the chart. The following figures were taken from a post at the old Dotmusic boards, it's how much it sold each week on its way to number one:

Week/Position/Sales/ [Official Cumulative Sale]

wk 1 #2 67,000

wk 2 #5 68,000 [135,000]

wk 3 #5 72,000 registered second consecutive sales gain this week

wk4 #8 56,000 no sales gain registered this week [264,000]

wk5 #8 70,000 sales gained again this week

wk6 #6 90,000 Registered highest sales gain of the week [424,000]

wk7 #4 105,000

wk8 #1 98,000 End Of Sales Year Total, 626,000

Those sales are scary.

If only we still had something nearly as big as those in this day and age!

I also think Those sales are scary.

Maybe in a few years time sales might be near to that level again as downloads completely take over the chart
