January 14, 200916 yr Here's another name to chuck in the ring..... Rachel Weisz anyone....? VERY talented, extremely attractive, in her late 30s but looks about 10 years younger, Oscar/Golden Globe winner for The Constant Gardener, nominated twice for a BAFTA, a huge amount of acting experience in very different roles (Constantine, The Mummy, Constant Gardener, The Land Girls, The Fountain, About A Boy...)... Did I mention she was extremely attractive....?

I totally agree To be honest only Anna Friel and Gina Bellman out of that lot are anything like worthy of the role, Carey Mulligan would be great, I'd LOVE to see Sally Sparrow return .... Agyeness Deyn, Who the fukk is she when she's at home.....? What's SHE been in then...? She's got one of the shortest biographies in the IMDb... Christ..... I'll refer you to what I said about Cheryl Cole or Jade Goody..... <_<
January 15, 200916 yr i hope none of them... To be fair, Anna Friel and Gina Bellman can act.... And Carey Mulligan was Sally Sparrow from series 3 highpoint "Blink".... I'd favour Mulligan, but would have no probs with Friel or Bellman.... Bellman was excellent in "Jekyll", and I have a bit of a soft spot for Anna Friel... But she's a bit unlikely because she's doing "Pushing Daisies".... The rest of them can fukk right off though.....

January 15, 200916 yr Carey Mulligan please. Michelle Ryan woudnt be too bad either but i would switch off if it was Lily Allen or Rachel Stevens (I like Rachel and everything but she needs to stay away from acting!)
January 15, 200916 yr Agyness Deyn is a model . PLEASE NO. http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s170/hattingh/agyness-deyn.jpg
January 15, 200916 yr Author i thought you liked lily allen ?..... i hope none of them... Are you being ironic? Most members on the site know I cannot stand this vile "mockney gob$h!te" who writes lyrics that sound like they were written by a 13 year old girl trying to be Ian Dury singing over The Specials/Terry Hall records, who is only famous because of whom her mum & whom her father is. (Proof the class system is alive and kicking in UK entertainment). I.E. She got signed to a major record company before playing a live gig. How feckin Indie. Who went on about how street & hardcore she was when she'd actually attended one of the Top 5 most expensive public schools at £26,000 a year. "A talentless fake and a fraud" © John Lydon. Yet in this months The Word magazine interview slagged off staying at an exclusive 5 Star Paris hotel describing it as "a dive" and saying that "she could have been raped by an amorous onion muncher". Yet days later slags off Prince Harry for his well known "**k*" comments made in the Army 3 years ago. (Never mind the same video had an army mate calling Harry a "bast*rd Kraut" as the Right-Wing Republican Rupert Murdoch Inc media left that fact out because it would sort of kill their pathetic non story....). Who has an opinion on everything yet hails Simon Cowell: "a Genius and a great guy"; once described Sir Paul McCartney "Mark Chapman murdered the wrong Beatle"; accused Kylie Minogue of taking advantage of her breast cancer to further her career. But with friends like NME Chief Editor Conor McNicholas (she went to the same exclusive Public school as him) & that equally annoying media whore George Lamb it is little wonder that "This generation's Wendy James" © David Hepworth 2009 (I said that about her over a year ago on this site) is so popular amongst this generations media obsessed "Pick me Simon, oh my god that winner of X-Factor is amazing and has a much better singer than Aretha Franklin; The Saturdays are not an over marketed hype of $hite they are brilliant; etc. Still after Lily had the audacity to compare herself to Kate Bush (in the Word interview), it is reassuring to know that on The Word's website she has taken one hell of a kicking amongst knowledgeable 30/40 year old something music fans who can spot a talentless bull$hitter a mile off; Like how they despise Simon Cowell and the recent Stock Aitken & Waterman were good for music revisionism (because they were around at the time) even though her mediocre single and second album will probably top the charts. Anyway what I was going to say is the reason Lily Allen's odds are so low is because she is not doing a second series of her chat show (you know that one that makes Charlotte Church seem like Michael Parkinson in comparison); but as the Head of BBC Programming revealed she is hopefully doing something else for us in the second half of the year. (Never mind the BBC wasting all the money on Jonathan Ross what were they thinking signing Lily Allen on a retainer....) And with The Word magazine interview where she again expressed an interest to "Return to my first love acting" and slagged off her record company and the music industry ....... 2+2 = ??????

January 15, 200916 yr Well somebody is bitter. Anyway I hope to anything it's Michelle Ryan or Sheridan Smith. Kelly Brook would be decent too (the best actress of the three even) but isn't she contracted to ITV now?

But she's a bit unlikely because she's doing "Pushing Daisies".... The rest of them can fukk right off though..... Regarding Anna Friel: The US series "Pushing Daisies" got cancelled after it's second US series due to poor ratings. Obviously the show which was the viewing equivalent of a rich chocolate cream cake (i.e. wonderful in small doses, but became sickly over time). I would be really happy to see her get the part as I completely disagree with Mushy & agree with you, Matt Smith's CV is pretty slim, so he needs a well known and rather decent actress for his assistant; which Anna more than fits the bill due to her acting career of nearly two decades (TV work including Alan Bleasdale G.B.H; Stephen Poliakoff's The Tribe; BBC adaptation of Our Mutual Friend; Colin Bateman's Watermelon; A Broadway Emmy nominated run in Patrick Marber's Closer; an admittedly patchy film career the highlights being when she out acted Michelle Williams in Me Without You; the war time drama Land Girls; A Midsummer Night's Dream; Timeline; the very gothic Bathory ... but best not mention Mad Cows; the badly directed Rogue Trader (even Ewan McGregor was rubbish in it) & the Goal! trilogy). If selected she would bring in the two key components for a Doctor Who audience (the heterosexual males for obvious reasons & the G.A.Y audience due to her iconic career defining roles to date as lesbian Beth Jordache (in Brookside) & Chuck (in Pushing Daisies)) which alone offer proof of her dramatic & comedic acting abilities. Furthermore she is back living in the UK (her life partner David Thewlis is due to reprise his Remus Lupin character in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I & II which should take a year to complete with the filming taking place in the UK starting February 2009) she is currently reunited filming with former Brookside writer Jimmy McGovern in his "The Street" BBC drama where she according to the writer puts in an "episode stealing performance". Also she was a Dr Who fan. (After leaving Brookside she did an interview with the long forgotten Sky Magazine where she revealed her regret that Dr Who no longer existed as she would have loved to have been a Dr's assistant. Furthermore, she apparently auditioned for the assistant role in the one off 1996 Dr Who TV movie. Whilst in November 2008 she was seen at the British Independent Film Awards ceremony in lengthy conversation with a certain Steven Moffatt).
January 15, 200916 yr Anna Friel would be amazing :o I've not actually seen her in much, but she just seems to light up the screen - attractive, "cute", talented and naturally funny! And it'd bring her back to the mainstream again, which is no bad thing for her.
January 15, 200916 yr I'd really like it to be Sheridan Smith  Or Lily Allen - for some reason I really like her at the moment and although it's probably really unlikely (despite the odds), I think she'd be great!
January 15, 200916 yr Carey Mulligan or Michelle Ryan and I will be a happy bunny. The rest are not worthy.
January 16, 200916 yr yeah, but id prefer an 'unknown' someone with a clean slate, no history, no previous character to get past. Problem is mate, Matt Smith is the "clean slate"..... So, the Assistant needs to be more established and have the experience to cover for Matt's relative lack of experience.... TWO "clean slates" would be pretty disastrous for the show IMO.... Besides, if it's Carey Mulligan or Alex Kingston (either of whom would be logical), both have been established AS having characters which revolve around The Doctor's world in scripts that Moffat himself has already written..... In terms of the continuity the character Alex Kingston played in particular simply CANNOT be left dangling out there as that would be one hell of a HUGE plot hole to leave.... The facts, Chris Eccleston and David Tenant provided great cover for "clean slate" Billie Piper because both were very experienced actors, Tenant then doing the same for other "clean slate" actress Freema Agyeman (which only worked to a certain extent because Freema, bless her, was pretty hopeless, I always thought the actress who played her sister was the better actress tbh.... )... Catherine Tate was a problem because she just played a mish-mash of her irritating characters from her show as opposed to actually acting or developing Donna as a totally different character.... Carey, Anna or Alex Kingston should really get the nod.... Gina Bellman as an outside bet..... Anyone else on that list simply is not worthy....
January 16, 200916 yr Well somebody is bitter. Anyway I hope to anything it's Michelle Ryan or Sheridan Smith. Bollocks... They'd be a disaster..... Was not impressed at ALL with Smith in the Jonathan Creek thing at New Year, she is a VERY pale "Creek companion" in comparison to Caroline Quentin and Julia Sawalha, she just looked lost opposite Alan Davis, there was absolutely NO CHEMISTRY there at all.... Michelle Ryan is utterly useless at being a female lead as the disastrous stint with the utterly cr@p "Bionic Woman" proved..... She'd be okay as a minor player, perhaps a guest slot in one episode, but not a regular..... The "bitterness" comes quite simply from seeing the absolute travesty that Dr Who became in the 1980s, the absolutely disastrous casting of people like Bonnie Langford, Peter Davison (the WORST Doctor IMO....), that attractive, but useless bint who played Peri.... Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy weren't exactly great choices for the Doc either, not when you compare them to the "golden age" of Tom Baker, Jon Pertwee and Patrick Troughton.... Constantly bad choices in casting were probably what killed it in 1987, and, well, it looks as if history might be, depressingly, repeating itself... Especially if useless bints like the ones you suggest get high profile roles alongside an inexperienced, unknown quantitiy like Smith....
