i think june is well worthy of her best actress nonmination at the baftas as she is always over looked in these categories in general, and shows how are tastes are differnet norma as i loved hilda ogden when i think of her i t remember it as days when i actually loved coronation street

For me ... Corrie improved the day Hilda Ogden went to work as a housekeeper for that bloke in Derbyshire! Could not abide Hilda Ogden one little bit ... vastly overrated! Having said that ... the one scene (after Stan had died) where she opened the brown paper parcel of his belongings ... handling his glasses ... was tear-jerking in the extreme! But that was the only moment I'd admired her acting. Apart from that ... I think she was just as bad as June Brown in Eastenders. Sorry - I just think people are over-sentimentalising her (June Brown's) performances because she is very old. She is at best ... a very 'average' actress and there are dozens of women on TV this year who are far more deserving of a nomination than this old bat!

Again its down to taste,i loved Dot since i started watching eastenders over 20 years ago and i loved her double act with ethel, and i still enjoy dot now and i think she handled her solo eastenders episode very well and think that is what this nomination is for aswell,i love the chemistry she and jim have on screen and you can tell they are great mates in real life from the chemistry.

However i think with Dot and Hilda Ogden alike they are love or hate charactors likewise with Dev in coronation street who i must say absolutly does my head in and is def up with one of the worst soap charactors ever for me.

I dont watch casualty but i watch the bill sometimes and i think the bill deserved its nomination and definitly deserved it more than Emmerdale although emmerdale handled Jack Sugdens death epsiode fantastically bar that its been pretty rubbish i didnt realise Coronation Street were snubbed by Bafta last year also and i do think it deserved a nomination over emmerdale, but again if it was eastenders the press(especially the sun) would crucify the show if bafta snubbed them 2 years in a row and i sometimes think the sun are paid not to say anything bad about corrie or emmerdale as they forever critisice eastenders whether its on top form or not which is so unfair.

Likewise when emerdale beat eastenders in the ratings clash on tuesdays the sun always mention it but when eastenders beats emmerdale which its doing regulary now its not mentioned plus when emmerdale do get higher ratings they never mention that over 1 million people watch the bbc 3 repeat at 10 o clock which is usually the highest ratings any of those sub channels get.

In press terms eastenders by far get the most critisism and rarely do they praise the show however magzines are the opposite and constantly praise the show which is in great comparison to the papers.eastenders gets great ratings often higher than corrie sometimes even with corrie and sometimes less but overall they are pretty neck and neck and thank god the eastenders alwats deservedly does well at the award shows whether its voted by the public or a panel.

100% agreed with everything you say.

The papers love to give EE a hard time but the mags are really super. God knows why the papers do that when EE usually gives them lots to write about!

yes the sun who hammer it always have loads of write ups about storylines and cast members shenanigans, obvisouly the tv show editor has differnt views to the rest who write the rest of the paper as the tv editor isnt as negative in eastenders

Sad news personally.

EastEnders’ on-off couple Garry Hobbs and Dawn Swann are being written out of the soap.

The pair – played by Ricky Groves and Kara Tointon – will exit Walford after a dramatic storyline this summer.

A show insider said: “Viewers will have to wait and see if there is a happy ending, or whether they go their separate ways.”

The contracts of Ricky – who has played mechanic Garry for almost 10 years – and Kara were due to end this year. Kara, 25, said: “It has been the best four years of my life. I will always hold the show dear to my heart and be an avid fan.”

Ricky, 40, said: “It has been wonderful playing Garry. But I am looking forward to new things.”

Soap boss Diederick Santer paid tribute to their “great performances”.

He said: “Ricky and Kara go with our thanks and our best wishes.”

I  Kara :( Gonna miss her.

Poor Minty without Garry, but his exit is long overdue I feel.

It's a shame, I think Garry was greatly underused throughout his time there, and was being pushed further and further into the background. And Dawn has become a far more watchable and likeable character since the Mad May saga.
I rather like Dawn. Her voice annoys, sure, but she's a lovely warm girl. Interesting to watch. She had pretty much no role for about a year too. Still, Garry going can only be a good thing at this stage. I hope they live as a couple.

To be honest, I really don't buy their relationship. It's painfully obvious that she views him as a best friend rather than a lover.

It'd be much more realistic and less contrived if they left separately.

Yea Im not sure still how I feel about their relationship. She doesnt seem completely satisfied, but I think his "death" made her realise she did love him.

I hope its a Martin/Sonia style exit. Could do with a happy ending! :)

Whilst I agree about him being her best mate, I feel that storyline was drawn out for too long for it to be wrecked a month later, and nobody ever has a happy ending on EE. It might be good for the show's reputation if just once they broke that rule.

3 reasons to love tonight's epi:

1 / Syd is the best new character in a long time

2 / 'I might even go mad. I might EVEN had a biscuit!'

3 / Ronnie being even more mesmerisingly beautiful than usual

1 reason not to:

1 / Worst duff-duff moment ever.

Couple of weeks since I saw tonights ep what was the final scene?

Danielle writing a card from "Granddaughter" I think?

Oh ok cheers :)

Have to agree with your earlier point too Jark, Sam Janus is looking stunning.

Sam Janus is my new obsession tbh <3 Ronnie is a much better character then Roxy anyhow.
She's possibly the ultimate character. Does anyone watch Holby? She reminds me so much of Jac, except a little less nasty.
just think, once upon a time Samantha Janus was UK's Eurovision entrant!!! Ronnie seems to have improved a lot since she was introduced to Eastenders, and I find her storylines more interesting now, ten times better than Roxy's

Ronnie's good, but not that good. BRENDA.

She reminds of Jac in that they both look like they've been slapped in the face by a fish. Very cold.

I go through phases with roxy and ronnie i like one more than other 1 months and i change again althgough at the moment im loving ronnie especially the way she and archie are kinda getting on,as for gary and dawn i like gary and i loved him and minty as a double act and dont feel the dawn and gary relationship at all,but i can see their charactors in a way have come to a dead end although they should do a wedding and let them live happily ever after and let them leave happily,

Im assuming boths charactors have been axed rather than choose to leave????

TH emillers have been axed slowly but surely i wonder will darren be the next although from them all i think darren has huge potenial as a charactor and he is a good enough actor also
