Awful decision

How odd, I can perhaps understand replacing young actors in soaps but it seems weird to bring back a character that's been played by someone in between. Then again, I don't know how many people have seen Peggy v1 It was kinda weird when they first replaced Sam's actress but I think prefer Kim as Sam now.

 

When I see Daniella all I can see is that photo of her with 'one nostril' in my head. :( At least she doesn't look dragged from the 90s in that recent photo in the Sun, she used to look so skanky and old fashioned.

Eh, Kim Medcalf was a good Sam and seeing as I'm only young was really the "main Sam" for me, I only saw a couple of episodes with Daniella in them so I don't really remember her that much. I thought Kim was good but I'm glad they're bringing back Daniella Westbrook, I just think she fits the part better, but I'm not sure if after all these years she'll have the same relationship with Peggy and Phil, I mean, so much has changed.

 

Does this mean Ronnie and Roxy are leaving? Don't you think having four blond bombshells under one roof will be too much?

 

[EDIT] Actually, looking at some more recent pictures of Daniella I think she looks to "old" for the part of Sam, Kim Medcalf could still pull off the "little sister" act when she wanted to, but also was able to have serious and strong, whereas Daniella looks old and if she ever tried to be all "little sistery" to Phil I don't think it'll work.

Rita and Samantha aren't leaving. I do hope they move out of Vic though when Sam returns.

 

Im really excited about having Sam back though...will be great to see what her relationship with Ronnie and Roxy is!

 

And of course Ricky and Bianca...hope she doesnt ruin any pontential reunion for them!

I'm going to echo everybody's sentiments here; I'd have rather Kim Medcalf had come back to take on the role. I thought she did that role quite well, and I think they should have left the role open for her rather than bringing that Westbrook muppet back.

I read somewhere they asked her first but she turned them down as she had something else on...? Anywho, Daniella was Sam for 10 years running and Kim was her for 3 years, to most of the EastEnders viewers those 10 years mean more than what Kim ever did in the role. Shame, she was good as Sam.

Westbrook wasn't actually in the soap for 10 years as such though. She was there 1990-93, 95 and 99. For the rest of the time Sam Mitchell wasn't in EE.

As I remember she kept on leaving or being axed for her drug taking.

She's just not a good choice of actress. Not attractive or glamorous, and too much negative history to be taken seriously in the show. There were surely alternatives to her casting? Cast a third actress, though that'd be a bit far. Wait until Kim was free of commitments, find a new character instead of bringing Sam back...

There should really be a limit on the number of chances someone can be given.

I know i'm incredibly late (blame the miracle of life), but I watched the Wedding Episode and it was heart-breaking. I sobbed like a small child, poor fictional Ronnie. :(

I'd LOVE an EE/Apprentice crossover. The idea of Margaret rolling her eyes at Big Mo Harris and Nick making it his business to watch Ian Beale for some time greatly appeals.

I agree with the comments about Kim been better than Daniella to play Sam Mitchell,i never thought danielle was that great of an actress where Kim was excellent,i found Kim made the role her own where with danillele i always feel she she should be called danielle and not sam,,,,, im looking forward to sam and bianca clashing as they like deach other so that will be good bar that im not sure wher ethey will bring the charactor although stacey will have something to say to sam as she knew all about the den murder thing.

 

Th death of danielle on thursday night has really boosted ratings as both friday and monday episodes are up 1 million,plus the bbc 3 repeat at 10 o clock is pulling in nearly a million viwers now,i would love to know the ratings for sundays repeat... if eastenders dont win best soap at this years soap awards i will be gutted as the show is on a role now the storylines are pumping and are constantly building, im now starting to watch out for the x mas storyline as usually that starts building up for montsh before anyone like to predict who will have the centre x mas storyline this year???

Firstly, I forgot that Stacey has been in it so long. I thought she joined after the murder. :o

 

Secondly, what would she have to say to her? I thought it mostly went fine in the end, Chrissie got done for murder, Zoe left to get away from the Square and Sam went on the run from the Police.

 

It kinda seems weird that Sam is coming back. Wasn't she due 3/4 years in prison? Surely running away for the same amount of time is almost as bad?
