February 25, 200916 yr Author Or .... I'd plump for the classic "Liverpool are an entirely different side when playing in Europe" I don't believe that. I do think it's easier for Rafa to out-play managers in Europe, but generally the 'big' teams are victims in their own downfall of being over-egotistic twats. It does the team talk for Rafa.

I do think it's easier for Rafa to out-play managers in Europe, but generally the 'big' teams are victims in their own downfall of being over-egotistic twats. It does the team talk for Rafa. A bit like Rafa in last year's ECL semi Final for Chelsea's Drogba. :hithead:
February 25, 200916 yr Author A bit like Rafa in last year's ECL semi Final for Chelsea's Drogba. :hithead: Sort of yeah. Although i'm pretty sure the ref that we had tonight was the same ref for the semi-final last year. God knows how he got Scott free of the match-fixing scandal... But who cares really. Was an excellent result and hopefully the back pages will be focusing on our victory rather than Rafa himself.
February 25, 200916 yr Talking of Chelsea this is the only way they will be able to match Liverpool in European Football .............. 1__5AYOkXKQ Abramovich buys Liverpools European history
February 25, 200916 yr this shows one thing English teams are the best in Europe yes, that's right, even Liverpool could win La Liga, yet in the Prem they're well and truly out of their depth, i mean look at Inter, we played like the home team on Tuesday and i predicted a Liverpool win, apart from 2-0, i were right
March 10, 200916 yr If Liverpool had played like that for the last two or three months, they'd still be challenging for the title. It's saying something for Liverpool's performance that Casillas had a pretty good match and still conceded four.
March 10, 200916 yr Well Real Madrid NINE times champions of Europe (ie. Three times more than a certain English Club whose fans think they are the best to ever walk the earth) suffered their biggest ever aggregate defeat in the Premier European Competition. Still no doubt the Benitez haters/Murdoch Inc will say Liverpool were lucky to win over 180 minutes.
March 10, 200916 yr You're still 2nd, vermin above me And you've beat Real Madrid the team who've failed to get past the last 16 in the last so many seasons, ermm, good job? wait til sunday and you'll be well and truly be eating humble pie and most of Real Madrid's European Cup wins came in the 50's when no one cared about European Football, 5, infact like i've said for a long, long time, until Madrid get rid of Raul and his dictatorship, they'll never win anything again
March 11, 200916 yr Author This didn't have anything to do with Man Utd. It was just that we destroyed Real Madrid. The only time they ever got in the game was after we scored the 3rd goal and sat back a little. So what Real Madrid were terrible? is it just coincidence that they've been terrible in the past two games they've played Liverpool whilst been on top form in La Liga? Obviously there's the Prem is much stronger than La Liga theory, but still it doesn't hide the fact that we murdered one of the biggest teams around. The first half was the best i've seen Liverpool lay for consistently for a long, long time.
March 11, 200916 yr biggest teams around? they've got a temporary manager, they're underperforming on the top stage year after year, 5 years ago is the last time they got into the quater-finals, not so big, eh
March 11, 200916 yr Author They're REAL MADRID though. Supposively the biggest team in the world. In terms of history and all that. I constantly see a La Liga w*** fest from people and we made Real Madrid look very ordinary bar a phenomenal performance from Iker Casillas. I always see Pepe and Ramos touted by various people as the one of the best centre backs and the best right back in the world. We tore them to pieces. Bar winning the Champions League last year Man Utd had hardly set the Europe on fire (well they were ok in 2007 too irrc). I don't even think this is me being biased, but Liverpool are the best team in Europe (and UEFA think so too). Rafa just gets his tactics spot on, and the fact the opposing teams and the media always seems to dismiss Liverpool seems to spur them on. I just hope we don't play an English team until the final at least. Not because i'm worried about them, just because I don't want to see another Chelsea vs Liverpool match at any stage in the competition. So boring.
March 12, 200916 yr nope, we're the biggest team in the world how can you be the best team in Europe, when we're champions, and on our way to our 2nd consecutive title? :)

March 12, 200916 yr Author I did mean in European competitons (I don't really like to say Champions League as it's not), which re-reading my post, I probably didn't make clear...
