Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox Arquette and David Arquette are reportedly considering reprising their roles in the forthcoming Scream 4.

According to Bloody Disgusting, the original Scream stars have been approached with financial offers to make a cameo appearance in the horror sequel.

Campbell starred as protagonist Sidney Prescott in the original trilogy, while Cox Arquette played ambitious reporter Gale Weathers and Arquette starred as police officer Dewey Riley.

The fourth film in Wes Craven's Scream franchise was announced by the Weinstein Company last July. However, it will likely focus on a set of new, younger characters, with the original cast members only making a brief appearance.

Scream and Scream 2 writer Kevin Williamson has reportedly begun writing a draft screenplay, while Craven is still in negotiations to return as director.

Last year, Jamie Kennedy, who played movie buff Randy Meeks, hinted to iFMagazine that he could reprise his role for the fourth instalment.

Hmmm it could be good if done right tbh.

At least theres not gonna be a remake of it, it's my fave horror movie ever tbh.

erjk34t34789 jdfb r8huvfd. f***ING NO :[!!!! -dies-.

They can't the whole point of it was being a trilogy because as Randy said in the video tape in Scream 3 it's a "rarity in the horror field". How the hell can Jamie Kennedy reprise his role in it anyway? :/! Considering he had pre-made the tape for Scream 3, so what he had the power of telekinesis to make another tape for the 4th one? Ha.

I really hope they leave it, plus it's so 90s. To make another one in these years will taint the franchise <////3.

Ugghhhh.

I agree. As much as I love the Scream Franchise, I think they should just leave it. It's classic and it should be left alone.

I thought Craven always ruled one out as by the third one he even thought it was a bit too much?

Kev Williamson never even wrote the third one, which would explain why it was the weakest of the three films..... I seriously doubt he'd even contemplate writing a fourth... As for Craven.... I dunno, he's such a money-whore, he might just get a big enough cheque sent his way to tempt him......

I would NOT like to see another sequel to this tbh.... I did like the first one, second one was okay, third one was pretty below par.....

Oh God, please no.

Scream 1 was great. Scream 2 wasn't that bad. But Scream 3 - don't even go there.

And there is a way Jamie Kennedy can reprise his role - he appears as a ghost.

Oh god yeah, they'll probably do that.... Or else they'll work in some way to get the Jennifer Love Hewitt character from Ghost Whisperer who sees "dead people" to translate what Jamie is saying, whilst obviously crying uncontrollably as she always does IN EVERY FRIGGIN' EPISODE; oh, how, "wacky" and ever-so "post-modern" that would be......

I don't think they should do another 'Scream' movie. If they are actually in talks to write one, I reckon the best way they could pull it off is if it's the same kinda format that Craven used with 'New Nightmare'. I think that would work a lot better, too.

It's official! David Arquette and Courteney Cox have signed on to reunite with the Ghostface killer.

"We are going to be doing Scream 4," Arquette just told me from New York City, where he's hanging out in plastic box over Madison Square Garden for Feeding America (more on that later). "Kevin Williamson is writing the script at this moment, and hopefully Wes Craven is going to direct."

In the original horror trilogy, Arquette played Deputy Dewey Riley with Cox as a tabloid television reporter Gale Weathers...

Rumors began several months ago that the two were in talks for the fourth installment.

"I fell in love with my wife on Scream, so the opportunity to bring [Dewey]back to life and for my wife to play that really bitchy character again, it's just going to be really fun," Arquette said. "It's just great."

While Williamson recently revealed that Neve Campbell has turned down the chance to reprise her role as Sidney Prescott, Arquette said, "I hope Neve does it. I really hope so."

As for a new storyline, Arquette laughed: "Kevin has sort of put out the broad strokes, but I don't think I'm at liberty to share any of that."

YAY!

Really wish Neve would sign up!

I heard they wanted to bring Neve back, but it's hard to work her into the script. I don't think they should bring her back personally. Infact, the only way i'd be like her to be brought back, was is if she was in the opening sequence of the new trilogy and was killed in a similar manner Drew Barrymore was in the first film...

Hope these films are good though. Nothing worse than milking stuff. Probably won't even bother watching the 4th one unless Wes Craven directs it... then you know it should be decent as I don't think he'd sign up to do the film(s) with a poor script.

Just watched the third one for the first time today on Five and they did leave it open for a forth. I am glad though I want Dewey, Gale or Sidney to be the killer though.

Courtney confirmed on Ellen confirmed that she and David are back
Neve Campbell will return to the Scream franchise, Dimension Films has announced.

Dimension founder Bob Weinstein also confirmed that Courteney Cox and David Arquette will be back for the latest Scream, and director Wes Craven is engaged in talks to shoot Kevin Williamson's script.

It had been thought that Campbell, who played Sidney Prescott in the first three instalments of the horror series, would not be back for the fourth go-around after helmer Craven hinted at a predominantly fresh cast.

Williamson previously stated on his Twitter page that he was considering killing off Campbell's heroine in the new film, which will take place ten years after the events of Scream 3.

Pleased she signed up :cheer:

Neve Campbell is the actual sex. She is amazing <3 And Scream isn't too bad either.

Love the Scream films, but 3 was a bit iffy. However, I'm glad they've got Neve back, as I wouldn't even be remotedly interested in this without her.

I also hope that Wes does direct. From what I've been reading, he was impressed with Kev's script and is seriously considering it.

You summed up everything I was going to say Chemmie

I hate that franchises just get bled dry until they are a complete mockery of their former glory just for money. The 'Halloween' series is another example as is 'Saw'. [Though I don't actually like the 'Saw' series anyway].

I will probably check out Scream 4 though, just because I dressed as Ghostface for Halloween and rewatched the trilogy this week

I watched the Scream trilogy for the first time last weekend and it's really really good, I was so impressed with it and I'm really looking forward to this happening! I hope it's done well though. I found the conclusions of films two and three to be unsurprising and very average :(
