Im surprised there isnt a topic on this yet so close to release too! :o

Anywho, its a remake of the 1981 canadian slasher film of the same name and what are peoples thoughts on it? Im sure everyone has seen the trailers and posters cos they are EVERYWHERE. I think the 3D aspect might ruin it just a tad though. Last time i went to see a 3D film was like 2003 and it made the film more kiddy than intended. I havent seen the original so i have no idea what to expect on Saturday when i go and watch it.

Thoughts?

"Scar 3-D" was complete cr@p... Journey to the Centre of the Earth 3-D was complete cr@p, and by the sounds of it, the film you saw was a bit cr@p as well.... I detect a pattern here...... Sub-standard films using 3-D as a gimmick to get bums on seats.....

I've yet to see a film made in 3-D that was actually any good.... There was a brief trend for it in the 80s - Jaws 3-D was rubbish, Friday The 13th 3-D was rubbish as well..... Nah mate, things aint changed, 3-D still seems to equal 'cr@ppy cinema'.....

Blah I cba with this. It looks tacky.

Also it reminds me of the RATHER brilliant band which shares this film's name. Hurry up with new material plz!

Everyone I know seems to want to see this

Indeed......

Getting back on topic though... This film is basically a re-tread of an early 80s slasher starring a bunch of non-names who never made it big (a slasher film so cr@p it couldn't even get Jamie Lee Curtis, John Saxon or Linda Blair to star  ).... There are cosmetic changes, but the plots both seem fairly similar, both films seem to revolve around nasty things going on in mines and small towns....

Frankly, I recommend neither..... This might be the one case where a remake is actually better, but really only by virtue of the fact that the original is so utterly pish that it couldn't be any worse.....

I really enjoyed this, some parts made me jump quite a bit, the acting wasn't TOO bad either. I very much enjoyed it, although it was quite funny seeing the people in front of you jump just as much as you did

I saw this on Saturday. It was... Okay... I saw it without the 3D Glasses as my cinema is not up to scratch (<_<) Anyway, IMO, i think the film wouldve been better WITH the 3D Glasses as the film was MADE for the 3D effects so there were times when you left in the dark. You can tell which scenes were specifically designed for the 3D-ness too. I was more shocked about how similar the plot of my film studies coursework is to the film  There arent many thrills or scares, but the film is good at building tension at times. So overall its not the best horror in the past couple of years but its not the worst either. Id give it a 6 or 7 out of 10.

This film is pretty pointless without the "3-D" aspect..... Some would argue, kind of pointless even with 3-D.....

3-D aside, this is hardly an improvement on the pretty crummy and grotty original early 80s slasher.... Yes, they got a few pretty, hot young actors to make things a bit more appealing as opposed to the no-names in the original, but I feel a bit bad for Jenson Ackles tbh, with both this and Supernatural (and he also did another low-budget, pretty dull horror a few years back) he is in serious danger of being typecast and placed only within a Horror genre context (as an actor, I'm pretty sure he's capable of doing a bit more), and Jared Padalecki is in the Friday the 13th remake as well......  Oh dear......

Completely true. I like Supernatural and think Jensen and Jared are both pretty good actors but in truth they should probably stick with TV more or less, or at least stay away from low budget cheesy horror films.

I think Devour was the other film from a few years back that you were trying to remember.

Meh I went a couple of week ago, wasn't that good really.

Jensen didn't even get naked.

What a rip off.

oh, god, yeah, that was it..... Pretty awful it was.... Really standard "straight-to-video" stuff....

Was he the killer?

Was he the killer?

Yes, the implication being that he'd become sort of "possessed" by the spirit of the original killer.... I honestly didn't think they would possibly come up with such a hackneyed "twist", but, they did.......
