While filming for tonight’s Sunday Night Project, Rachel confessed she crashed her car after getting boozed-up to steady her nerves. But the Strictly Come Dancing star’s shock admission left the Channel 4 show audience stunned – and road safety campaigners fuming. The former S Club 7 singer told open-mouthed host Alan Carr she had “a few drinks” to give her some pre-test Dutch courage. She added: “I was driving along and it was all going fine until I crashed into a stationary car.” When asked how she managed to smash her motor Rachel, who was 17 when she took her test, replied: “I can’t believe I’m saying this but I was pissed!” The 30-year-old’s revelation left some of the audience in fits of giggles, while others gasped in astonishment. One stunned audience member said afterwards: “Even Alan couldn’t believe it when she said she was drunk during her driving test. “She is supposed to be a role model for children who have been watching her for weeks on Strictly Come Dancing. “It is a disgraceful thing to do and is an inappropriate thing to be talking about.” Last night road safety groups slammed her remarks as “appalling”.
