Posted January 16, 200916 yr http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/4400/tmpphpe6xlyuuq9.jpg 'Rehab' is my second favourite song behind the personal 'Question Existing' both of which could be the perfect balladish single if handled in the right way. 'Rehab' has something in it that just either has a huge effect on you or it doesn't. Depending on if you under or over listen to it. After me being over and on it for years I think it just deserves this topic in order to get opinions on what y'all think DefJam could've done better in handling the GGGB era. 8/7 Singles off one album surely gives the wrong impression? It causes somewhat a hate towards Rihanna and hearing her and seeing her all the time, it can get a bit annoying. Is this what DefJam wants? There surely would've been a clear singles strategy for the album all worked out on the release of the album.. Not switching and changing and re-re-re-releasing. They could've stuck with 5 maximum singles.. Even with TAB and Disturbia coming out pretty long after the album, they could've been used on the next album if their recording strategy was in order.. All the single releases brought 'Rehab' way down.. 'Rehab' originally 4.55 minutes long was edited down to 4.05 and sometimes 3.35 minutes for radio. This should've done with massive care, keeping the song as great as it was. Well instead it was edited into an incredibly dull and repetitive version. They could fit in two choruses and the 30 second instrumental ending and the FULL climax featuring JT into the radio edit, which they didn't do, and killed the song so much imo. Making everyone bored of the song and Rihanna overall. The edit sounds so repetitive that the radio has to cut it off somewhere in between or sounds if that it has happened. Gosh :o Rehab became RiRi's 2nd lowest charting single in the UK and US but yet still making the top 20. Surely such an immense song didnt deserve so little. Also not getting a physical was a huge mistake imo, Rehab really is original enough. A singles stratagy such as: 1-Umbrella, 2-Don't Stop The Music, 3-Rehab, 4-Take A Bow, 5-Disturbia could've worked perfectly perfect! But no the milk bottle just needed to be completely empty. January 16, 200916 yr This is the 7th/8th/124664th single though so it was never going to do all that well. Plus we first heard the song 16 months before realese which was unlike TAB and Disturbia which were fresh at the time, so for me it just sounded like it belonged back in 2007.

Yeah I agree, it was never going to do well no matter how amazing the song is. I'd say it's done quite well considering.
January 16, 200916 yr They shouldve remixed the single. Like the rumour. That way it wouldve been bound to shift more copies. But obviously...
January 18, 200916 yr After me being over and on it for years I think it just deserves this topic in order to get opinions on what y'all think DefJam could've done better in handling the GGGB era.PLEASE tell me I'm not the only one Laughing really hard at this sentence
January 18, 200916 yr I thought 'Rehab' did bloody well. As IF an 8th single or whatever it is was going to do do as well as anything else from the album. Some artists are lucky to get 3 Top 20 hits from an album these days, and the US is typically more difficult and she's managed to make it Top 20 there too.
January 19, 200916 yr Humiliation?! The song was a SMASH... for an 8th single from a million+ selling album to go Top 20 is f***ing impressive to say the least. Most artists can't even get their 2nd/3rd singles into the Top 20. Please stop chatting utter $h!te

January 20, 200916 yr top 20 is great fr a song of an album that has sold over a million copies plus i think the fact its the 8th single of the album affected it,also there has been rihanna overkill and i know at one stage i didnt realise rehab was out as there was so many rihanna songs on the chart
January 20, 200916 yr EXCUSE ME I know it's the 8th single etc but that was not quite my point was it. Then what was your point? It's been a hit considering everything, did you really think an 8th single would've gone Top 10 or whatever?
January 24, 200916 yr Peaks this far: 04 Norway 04 Germany 09 Austria 12 NZ 14 Switzerland 16 UK 18 Denmark 19 US 19 Canada 22 Ireland 25 Holland 26 Australia 28 Sweden Not to bad for single #8...
January 24, 200916 yr Author If you read my first post you would get the whole point but anyways I'll just repeat myself.. It's Rihanna, almost any of her songs could go top 10 no matter if it's the 9th single or whatever.. But it peaked in middle top 20 which was 5 or 6 places off top 10.. An 8th single is obviously boring but with such a boring radio edit and music video - it won't peak as well as it could of and if those two aspects were handled differently it would most likely go top 10. A strategy for which single should be released when could've worked a lot better in Rihanna's and Rehab's favour. Example Rehab being the 3rd single or so and Rihanna releasing 5 singles max from the era. Which didn't happen and probably lost her a lot of fans as well. As successful as the era was there were plenty negatives along the way, Rehab being one of the biggest negatives imo.
January 26, 200916 yr Rehab definately didn't bomb :o :o  About 99% of artists could only dream about releasing 7 top 20 singles from an album!! It was download only too. Some people are never satisfied. It was hardly gonna get #1 was it   Humiliation of Rehab  , my ass :P
January 28, 200916 yr Nobody is ever happy....people aren't happy when an artist only releases a couple songs and now YOU ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT GETTING TOO MANY SINGLES/VIDEOS. I don't get it!!!!! Just be happy you got all those videos from the album.
January 30, 200916 yr I said from the begining i really didn't like this song, Breakin' Dishes would have easily done it better, not that it faired badly at all.
February 3, 200916 yr rehab is TOP 5 in the netherlands check it here: http://www.radio538.nl/top40.html
March 20, 200916 yr Rehab did quite well considering it was the 8th single from the original version of GGGB & the video was a bit of a bore. So they certainly got lucky, maybe if it didn't say "feat. Justin Timberlake" it might have done badly
