Thats right, it could have been if it was released digitally and physically on the same week. This is how i see it,

As it was released this is what happened

Remix Download release 22th September, reached #8 sales were 16898

Radio Edit download release 29th September, reached #4 sales were 23697

Physical release 6th October, reached #3 sales were 27544.

If all were released on 6th October, the sales would have been 68139 and if you even take out a few that probably wouldn't have bought all the copies in one week puts ot down to about 60k which would have been enough for #1 that week as Pink only sold 44037, and then maybe it would have gone on to become a bigger seller. More people might have bought C&S and more would of bought NCD.

what do you all think about this?

yeah it could have they shud have done it the same week and then the album wud have done bettter.
You can't use that sort of logic. The world would be entirely different that week. Different songs out, different choices made, top-heavy sales, people sick of a song etc. Not all those who bought it those weeks prior would have bought it on that one week etc
Who cares? There's more to music than where it charts.
i doubt it would have, like the position really matters anyway. Its all about sales in the end.

Right.

There is too much emphasis on being number one. Bob The Builder was number one.

Jamelia has never had a number one single over here, but she's done well for herself without one.

Being number one isn't the be all and end all.

exactly.

Sales are what really count, record labels would rather have $h!t loads of sales than a couple of good positions.

Good sales wouldn't get you dropped. crap sales and a number 1 might

You cannot predict that sales would have been as high on the one week if all the releases came out together. I doubt it would have made no1 and we need to just accept that fact.
I think it could have had a a bigger impact but anyway it has done well.
Can anyone tell me what was the point of releasing Radio Edit a week after the remix EP? As far as I remember, the EP included Radio Edit...

no the remixes included the album edit.

It was a totally awful and vile, vile song and didn't even deserve no3 imo  It's a shame as they are such a great band.

And what's to say that 68,000 people would've downloaded it that week?

Songs build up momentum every week as more people hear them. I think I know what I'm trying to say :S
