DMT, IDA MARIA, LITTLE DRAGON are flops of the week, it looks. Last week we had 49 in the 50 (on the singles preview), and 29 in the 30 (on the album preview)...well done Tom, Peter, and John! Back in January 1978, Radio Luxembourg came up with this: 01 06 FIGARO - BROTHERHOOD OF MAN 02 07 LOVELY DAY - BILL WITHERS 03 02 NATIVE NEW YORKER - ODYSSEY 04 01 UPTOWN TOP RANKING - ALTHIA AND DONNA 05 10 IF I HAD WORDS - SCOTT FITZGERALD/YVONNE KEELY 06 08 WHO`S GONNA LOVE YOU - IMPERIALS 07 09 THE GROOVE LINE - HEATWAVE 08 03 IT`S A HEARTACHE - BONNIE TYLER 09 14 SORRY I`M A LADY - BACCARA 10 13 GALAXY - WAR 11 05 LOVE`S UNKIND - DONNA SUMMER 12 16 ON FIRE - T-CONNECTION 13 04 DON`T IT MAKE MY BROWN EYES BLUE - CRYSTAL GAYLE 14 19 WISHING ON A STAR - ROSE ROYCE 15 NE RICH KIDS - RICH KIDS 16 15 HOW DEEP IS YOUR LOVE - BEE GEES 17 18 MORNING OF OUR LIVES - MODERN LOVERS 18 22 COCOMOTION - EL COCO 19 12 MULL OF KINTYRE/GIRLSCHOOL - WINGS 20 NE DRUMMER MAN - TONIGHT 21 23 HEARTSONG - GORDON GILTRAP 22 11 LET`S HAVE A QUIET NIGHT IN - DAVID SOUL 23 26 BEAUTY AND THE BEAST - DAVID BOWIE 24 NE HOT LEGS - ROD STEWART 25 NE QUIT THIS TOWN - EDDIE AND THE HOTRODS 26 21 I LOVE YOU - DONNA SUMMER 27 NE JUST ONE MORE NIGHT - YELLOW DOG 28 NE EMOTIONS - SAMANTHA SANG 29 30 ZODIACS - ROBERTA KELLY 30 NE FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE - SMOKIE Well Luxembourg only achieved 20 out of 30, but were well ahead with future hits there...and a new number one, a week before the BBC! ROBERTA KELLY was well played in 1978, but just about missed out in sales and the National top 50. SAMANTHA SANG could have been a female BEE GEE, as she teamed up with the boys. YELLOW DOG gave us a bit of comedy...they were the blokes who sang with FOX, a few years earlier. EDDIE AND THE HOTRODS achieved a few minor hits, following the biggie (as THE RODS), on "DO ANYTHING YOU WANNA DO". ROD STEWART still turning them out...with the Double A side smash, where HOT LEGS won the chart heading. EL COCO gave us Euro-disco. As MIDGE URE teamed up with GLEN MATLOCK...for punk-esque the RICH KIDS. GORDON GILTRAP gave us a instrumental...which became the theme to HOLIDAY with Cliff Michelmore of course. SCOTT FITZGERALD did well to represent the UK in 1988`s Eurovision Song Contest...in 78 "IF I HAD WORDS" was based on a certain classical piece, currently featuring in a tv advert. FIGARO was BROTHERHOOD OF MAN`s last top ten hit, ever! In my opinion, there worst. A record that was well hated by Capital Radio, at the time. I seem to remember their copy had a blob of paint on it, near the end...and it had to be faded early, oh dear! :teresa:
January 26, 200916 yr Dave welcome back :cheer: Do you have any info why Lily Allen was charting so low this Sunday although it was number 1 on itunes on Saturday?
January 26, 200916 yr Great #1 for the global icon Lily Allen! And I'm predicting 80K for Bruce Springsteen and 55K for Franz Ferdidand this week!
January 26, 200916 yr Author Dave welcome back :cheer: Do you have any info why Lily Allen was charting so low this Sunday although it was number 1 on itunes on Saturday? Hi Ben..The boys think that it was just the EP bundle in at 168 yesterday, and the "proper" single was not included. If you remember, the EP bundle featured only on the iTunes Album chart...So then, the iTunes song chart "version" was not in the OCC Chart. Even though by then it was topping, the proper iTunes Chart.

If you remember, the EP bundle featured only on the iTunes Album chart...So then, the iTunes song chart "version" was not in the OCC Chart. Even though by then it was topping, the proper iTunes Chart. So does her being #1 in this chart suggest the iTunes song chart version WILL be counted this week? Or is that assuming they will count it?
January 26, 200916 yr Last week we had 49 in the 50 (on the singles preview), and 29 in the 30 (on the album preview)...well done Tom, Peter, and John! Thanks Dave. Good to see you back, hope you had a good holiday. I'm still unsure about Lily, if her iTunes sales are disqualified, it's number 2 at best for her... By the way, LOVE that Roberta Kelly track. Classic Giorgio Moroder
January 26, 200916 yr Author So does her being #1 in this chart suggest the iTunes song chart version WILL be counted this week? Or is that assuming they will count it? I believe it has something to do with that version, not being available to last Friday. Somebody suggested a video was given away free, but that won`t affect the song it self.

January 26, 200916 yr Welcome back Dave, hope you enjoyed your break Can someone explain Tommy Reilly, its coming from no where, is there a physical attached to it, or is the track on downloads only
January 26, 200916 yr He won Orange's/C4's Unsigned Artists Competition, I think the physical is out next week. Edited January 26, 200916 yr by Ethan.
January 26, 200916 yr He won Orange's/C4's Unsigned Artists Competition, I think the physical is out next week. I'm really surprised it's so high considering it was on on a Sunday afternoon, sales must be quite low...
