Mash-ups that essentially use a previous entry cannot be mentioned, and samples are normally allowed, but in the case of DJ Earworm where the song IS the use of the sample and does not do anything with it, I don't think we can allow it where it uses elements of previous BJSC entries... That's fair enough, it's what I expected. re. the other mash-up that was posted, it does not include any previous entries, however does include contributions from artists already reserved by other countries. Where does that stand?

But if somebody were to reserve a mash-up including no former entries, but including vocal contributions from artists reserved by other countries what would be the situation with that? X was before your time? :kink: It was in the other semi and also didn't qualify. I don't think vocals from the same artists would be allowed - just like you couldn't send Beyoncé and Destiny's Child to the same contest. At least that's how I see it.

I wouldn't expect "Just Stand Up" to be allowed if, say, Rihanna, was reserved and it's the same principle.

If there is an odd number it will just be Herzebania, and if there is an even number two countries will pre-qualify. However I was thinking of doing it slightly differently by offering the 2nd placed country the chance to autoqualify rather than requiring it. So you may turn down the opportunity, in which case the 3rd placed country has the chance to be the one to pre-qualify if the number of participating countries dictate. It makes sense for the winner to be in the final, but it isn't really fair for the 2nd placed country just to be thrown in there by default if there is an even number of countries. It'd be the same regardless of who the 2nd placed country was :P

I don't see the need for a possible three auto-qualifers unless we ever had a situation like VIII where the host was the person who finished in third. (but Mdice didn't take part so only MKL and FSR Rontvia needed to pre-qualify)

Cyndi Lauper, Little Boots and Izabel Guzman (Roisin Murphy too, I guess) show that your song wont get ignored if it's good. I guess Estelle, Thermostatic, Elisha Keen and N.A.S.A. were wrong for the contest. I don't like the idea of passing it down, what if 3rd doesn't want to qualify either? and 4th? etc. It'd go too far down the line.
