Posted January 29, 200916 yr From the official website The Saturdays sing for Comic Relief We can now exclusively announce that Rochelle, Frankie, Una, Vanessa and Mollie have been asked to record this year’s Comic Relief single. The girls have only been together a year and already they are set to follow in the high-heeled shoes of other girlband royalty, such as Girls Aloud, Sugababes and The Spice Girls. They have recorded the main single for 2009’s campaign and have chose a massive track to cover – Depeche Mode’s electro-pop classic ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’. ‘I am so so excited that we have been asked to do the Comic Relief song,’ says Mollie. ‘It’s such a big compliment and it’s so nice to be helping such a good cause. I’ve always dreamt of doing something like this from being a little girl! I remember watching the Spice Girls’ song ‘Who Do You Think You Are’ and now it’s us! I cannot wait!’ Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day is on Friday 13th March and the theme this year is ‘Do Something Funny for Money’. By raising money for Red Nose Day, people can help to change lives forever. That’s because Comic Relief spends all the money raised to give extremely vulnerable, poor and disadvantaged people in the UK and Africa a helping hand to turn their lives around. The single will be released 2nd March with Comic Relief itself taking place on 13th March. So, what do you think, I hope its a good song but given the first two singles were quite electro-pop but I think it could be very promising. I'm guessing the single and video should premier quite soon, around 16th February I would have thought, but as for chart position, who knows, I don't think it could be guessed until we hear the track!!!! What do you think???
January 29, 200916 yr If there recent records are anything to go by, i think this could be a good choice. They have great harmonies imo and work well together and i think this could be better than the previous comic relief offering. Just have to hear it First. ;)
January 29, 200916 yr Will wait and see what the song is like ... but glad that the Saturdays have been chosen over other acts. I know there was a rumour (and that is all it ever was) that Take That and Girls Aloud would do it but to be honest ... it would have been unfair - as members of both groups are heavily involved with this CR Kili Climb - both groups would have been accused of just using it to their own ends. Good luck with the song Saturday! Norma Edited January 29, 200916 yr by Norma_Snockers
January 29, 200916 yr Author And I have just heard that there is going to be an unnofficial Comic Relief record from........................ Rob Brydon and Ruth Jones (Gavin & Stacey) covering this 'classic' 9G93YJv8DT0 I have got to hear this one!!!!!
January 29, 200916 yr :o This is a classic. R U serious lol. Maybe, this was gonna be the xmas release that was highly rumoured but it never happened so maybe they have opted to release it for Comic Relief, but i agree, i have to hear this ;)
January 29, 200916 yr Christ, they're doing a bloody DEPECHE MODE song??????????? You're sh!tting me.... -_- Okay, it's one of DM's more lightweight, poppy moments, but come on..... The Shaturdays doing a DM song is a bit like Paris Hilton covering The Prodigy...... In fact, it'll be even more cr@p than Marilyn Manson's godawful cover of "Personal Jesus".... I just wonder if Dave Gahan and Martin Gore have taken leave of their senses, or if it's just a very clever ploy on their part to generate interest in the new DM album..... But one would think that DM wouldn't really need to do that, their new album's gonna out-sell The Saturdays probably by about 20-1 taking into account global sales...... DM can easily sell round about 3 million albums.....
January 29, 200916 yr Oh, mind you, it's not really the done thing to refuse having your material used as a "charidee" record...... Makes you look like a right heartless b/astard..... DM probably HATE the thought of The Saturdays covering their stuff, but dont want to say no and look like a set of c/unts to the media..... <_<
January 29, 200916 yr So Sats are pushing the 4th single (now 5th) Work until about June? ^_^ Edited January 29, 200916 yr by funmaker11

January 29, 200916 yr Oh my gosh, hello why can't these insubstantial artists/groups leave Depeche Mode alone. Hilary Duff was bad enough and now the freakin Saturdays :/ what's so lol about it all is the choice of one of DM's worser songs, I think DM are desperate for funds for their new album lol - allowing the saturdays to cover such an average/almost bad song is quite an insult to the ''OMG amazing young ladies'' If it's released the date it is, it'll probably be an advantage for DM's album in April in some way - at least. The Saturdays covering DM, what's next Fall Out Boy covering Metallica?

The Saturdays covering DM, what's next Fall Out Boy covering Metallica? That would be amusing.... Then we could all throw bottles of p!ss and sh!t at them when they perform it live.....  DM wouldn't actually be getting any money for this though Kath, it's for "charidee"..... They cant really say no either, or they'd look like a right bunch of nasty tossers.. Dave Gahan and Martin Gore are both parents, so, there's that as well, Comic Relief raises money for kids... I think DM's motives are honourable when you see it like that, they probaly hate The Saturdays, but want to support Comic Relief itself..... The Sats' motives are just to get themselves a bit of cred if you ask me... "hey, we're covering a Depeche Mode track hoping some of their talent and credibility rubs off on us...". Didn't work for Girls Aloud with Aerosmith did it....? That was just utter POO......
January 29, 200916 yr Well that's The Saturdays' first #01 sorted out then. :P I'll reserve judgement til I hear it.
January 29, 200916 yr I'll reserve judgement til I hear it. Shame not everybody can. :heehee: Still if it gives people satisfaction to wade through life slagging people off then why not? We've all gotta get our kicks from somewhere. I guess there's some, um... appeal in relentlessly slagging off five girls half your age.
January 29, 200916 yr Well that's The Saturdays' first #01 sorted out then. :P oh, right so, basically what we're saying is that the only way The Saturdays can score a No 1 hit is to record a charity record... HARDLY says much does it.... Cynical little b/itches, so now we see the real motives, they only want to do this so they can finally say "hey, we're #1 now"... Yeah, never mind that it's the actual CAUSE of saving kids from STARVING TO DEATH and BEING SYSTEMATICALLY ABUSED that's more important than furthering your fukkin' pathetic little "careers"......... <_<

I guess there's some, um... appeal in relentlessly slagging off five girls half your age. Er, considering the last Comic Relief sucked worse than a crack addicted Kings Cross hooker, I can pretty much tell what this'll be like.... God knows I've heard enough "charidee" records to know from experience that about 99% of them ARE UTTER CACK...... The only genuinely great charity record was the original 1984 Band Aid "Do They Know It's Christmas", the rest have veered from the mediocre to dodgy to downright sh!t..... But of course, they get away with sh!t records, because it's for "charidee" and you cant possibly be critical of something that's for "charidee"..... Me, I prefer to spend the fiver on the actual charity itself, as opposed to having sh!t records cluttering up my CD racks.....
