The Saturdays simply exist to make money for record company execs; they are ultimately the dregs of the music scene. All they churn out are covers or cheap generic songs given a modern beat. Produced on a shoestring and packaged neatly up for the current crop of unsuspecting teens for maximum profitability. The definition of manufactured drivel for the musically uneducated. Sometimes the results are pleasant enough in passing, but ultimately readily disposable.

But this is what I've been saying... So frickin' what?

People like them, they're buying their music.

Nobody ever told you to like them, nobody is asking you to like them or buy their music or even listen to/watch them.

But why spoil something that a lot of other people like?

The Saturdays have always said that they are a pop group, they have never said any different.

The way people are going on, you'd think they'd compared themselves to U2 or something.

This thread is about the Comic Relief single which just so happens to be sung by The Saturdays... You don't like it/them, don't buy it.

Simple as.

So, apart from this Comic Relief song, What exactly are the other covers on the album? (If you have actually heard the album that is ;))
I was using them as examples to show that you can still be counted as a credible artist even though you were manufactured.

I chose them because they were manufactured in the public eye, hence reality show winners. The Saturdays were put together out of view.

Most people are manufactured to go a certain way, not just reality TV winners.

And, no offence, but what you said about Kelly isn't necessarily true. She HAD a lot of control over her songs/image etc... now she has a little say.

Not really. She chose the tracklisting of the album. Got involved with the album photoshoot and album cover and the design. She wrote the treatment for the video. I think shes doing the PR for this album too.

Thats quite a lot. More than what 99% of current mainstream artists do thats for sure...

Cant believe we've agured so much to 14 pages, i dread to think the state of this thread after the song actually leakes.

Ethan, the album contains no covers at all, so you know get your fact right.

I think Scherz seems to be the one talking the most sense in this thread anyway. LOL at how we've managed to bring Kelly into this thread, and just for the sake of it, i would say that she has more say than your typical artist.

Now where exactly did I specifically mention the album? I think you'll find Just Can't Get Enough isn't actually on Chasing Lights! ;) However Crashing Down and Beggin are other covers they've recorded. Least we not forget the injustice of the Yazoo sample on If This Is Love.

I didn’t actually say there were any covers on the album, so get your facts right!

I’ll tell you why, while this manufactured puppet dross clogs up the chart because of the way it’s cynically marketed, talented acts that write their own music and are in control of their creative direction are struggling to break through.

Now I’m not adverse to a bit of The Saturdays their music is a bit of disposable fun. However I am savvy enough to see the greater picture and put them into context. I hardly see how voicing an opinion on a public message board detracts from your enjoyment of their music. If you just want to read unadulterated love for them take yourself off to The Saturday’s forum, end of.

The Saturdays are very talented.

There's 3 very good vocalists and 2 good vocalists.

As I've said they play instruments and they ARE writing the second album.

They also work extremely hard to promote their releases, so it's not like they're having a free ride.

And I didn't say that you voicing your opinion detracts from my enjoyment, but your opinion is only on the act, not the song.

This thread is for the song.

Unbelievable how it's got this far and the song's not even out yet.

We've had this sort of thread before and it just gets out of hand.

I've also said before that I do not understand why people want to waste so much time out of their lives to talk about something that they do not like.

All the cynics and haters will be proved very wrong this year anyway, but that still won't shut you/them up.

How about we finish this argument and wait until we hear the song and then come back and discuss it?

Well you didn't say the album, so I apologise for that. But they've only done one album, none of which are covers, so I don't see how they're "Churning out" the covers.

'Beggin' was for the Radio 1 Live Lounge, so that doesn't really count, seeing as whoever is in the live lounge does a particular cover. They (well their management or whatever) thought it was good, so they used it as the B-Side to 'Issues'.

'Crashing Down' was a B-Side to 'Up', which (like 'Beggin' TBF) you only got if you bought the CD Single physically. So again, it's hardly "Churning out" is it? ;)

Oh and 'If This is Love' is a sample (like you said yourself above). IMO Sample's and Cover's are totally different.

Hmm, I hope it is good :D

Good luck Satty's (L)

Its gonna be interesting from tommorow morning 9am onwards i tell you that...!
clip

clip of the song woop :D I think that's Frankie singing at the beginning too

As Paris would say, that's hot.

I'm not overly impressed by the clip, but I'll wait for the full thing tomorrow.

Agreed.

Im actualy really impressed by the clip, i thought it wasnt going to be great and i am shocked :D
Wow, I never got the love for Jump. Easily one of, if not THE, worst things GA have ever done. Compared to Work it's a shambles!
Oh I'm pages back... not blown away by the clip to be honest, hope it's good though!
