What a great performance and a really deserving result! She really showed up all our entries from the past seven years. Now all we have to do is put this much effort into it every year as it's really given the whole contest a new lease of life. It was exciting for the UK for the first time in years

I was kinda surprised we didn't get anything from Turkey. After we gave them a 12 as well.

It's good doing well for once. I was hissing at countries when we were in the 1-7 region of their points, last year I would have been thankful for them. :heehee:

I know what you mean  It looked too good to be true, at the start... and it was :nocheer:

But very respectable :D

We always give a lot to Turkey and get nothing back :( 8 (or 10) last year, and 12 in 2007, with nothing back. and 12 again this year with nothing.

If we hadn't given them 12 we'd have been 4th <_<

:kink: I was doing that for Iceland this year.

Nil points or less than 5 got a torrent of abuse :heehee:

Yeah, I was going "OK, 2nd is out of reach, we can still make 3rd" and as time went on I was clinging on for 4th and we couldn't even manage that. :drama: Oh well, 4th and 5th aren't too different. I'd have rather been a safe 5th than not quite making the top 3.

Oh right, I can't say I'd ever noticed them not giving us much back. :nocheer: How typical of us to give a boost to the country that marginally beat us.

To be honest, it's probably fair ^ Shake It Up was great in 2007, and last years Turkish entry was good. We rightly deserved nothig in 07 & 08

Oh yes, there is that. I didn't pay attention in 2007 but I didn't really rate their entry last year. Loved it this year though.

Iceland switzerland belguim sweden turkey finland estonia and azerbaijan were the 8 countries who awarded the uk nothing and im surprised scandanavia didnt vote uk but iceland and estonia had ballads they probably thought we have ballads so lets not vote for that ballad

azerbaijan i might add gave nothing to ireland in the semi final either and i must thank denmark who gave us irish 10!

IMHO Turkey was $h!t last year, and mediocre this year. But anyway :kink:
i liked trukey this year but liked it more in the semi finals than on the final...poor ole malta tonight ciara always does well 2 top 3 placings then a big flop im sure she wont enter again!
.........

She came 5th :heehee:

yep... i underestimated just how BAD the eurovision voters tastes are!

One slice of Humble pie fresh from Moscow for Rob

:cheer:

join me..... after all the only thing i got wrong was her final position which was much higher (bizarrely) then i anticipated, she still didnt win :P

HOWEVER..... what a load of utter crap this contest was, it must be the poorest set of entries ever. hence an average song from norway ran away with it and had already won by the time 11 countries had yet to vote.

jades song was AWFUL, just wailing self indulgent lloyd webber pap. did she really do well?... well no. as i said SHES GOT NO CHANCE , i was right, losing to a very unremarkable norweigian track by over 200 points! ok, she finished higher in the placings then i expected, but then again she had done a mini tour promoting the track in europe! now ive not heard 1 of the others entries on our tv before the contest.

tip..... i couldnt care less how many awards lloyd webber has had.... hes not had 1 penny off me! its a song contest, not an ego contest, nor a 'look at how many awards ive won for my songwriting' contest. IMHO the song was awful.... but then again i hate wailing bitches per-se, and this track is painful to my ears.... i hope it fails to chart well and disappears forever. jessica garlick? great example...ive forgotten completely about that bint and her track... i hope this crap follows.

the best track of the night was estonia, followed by iceland, then norway.

god i hope the european public dont follow the british publics crass taste for reality show wailing bitches.. the show should be about each individual countries style of music presented in a contemporary style. lordi and ruslana were PERFECT examples of what constitutes a classic eurovision winner, i hope next year we see more original efforts like those were.

The only thing i can agree about is that Estonia, Iceland and Norway were great.
Poorest set of entries ever? :/ It's now very undeniably a song contest Mushy, and this is easily the greatest contest that we've had in a long LONG time...it's quite clear that your hatred of our entry is just down to a personal taste which you are only happy to try and demand from the rest of Europe...
