Hang on a moment, at the end of the day it is a terminal illness, you say it like she's exploting it and is taking advtange of it as if she's going to be fine at the other end of her interviews. She's not, she's likely going to die, she's making her children some money WHILE SHE STILL CAN.

Fair enough Adam, doesn't mean I have to like it though.... I personally find it tacky and undignified.... Cant help it... Something about people making money out of something like this, no matter what the "motive" may be, just doesn't sit right, I just dont like it, sorry..... I've seen a loved one die of cancer, and this to me is all just a bit sick.... The whole rather voyeuristic "fascination" with it all....

I totally understand that, I personally can understand how some could be uncomfortable with it, but don't find it sick myself as my first thought would be to help my family, especially if they were so young. I guess not everyone can do this, it's the media's fault really for always going with stories like this, and their desperation to follow any aspect of Jade's life.

Effectively her CV atm is

Name - Jade Goody

Age - 27

Occupation - Professional Cancer Sufferer

I just find it distasteful that she is expoliting her cancer for personal and financial gain where in the real world the NHS is effectively a "postcode lottery" as to whether patients will get the best cancer drugs at all on the NHS

The whole problem I have with Reality TV is that, while there may be people who are perfectly happy to live out their lives, and quite possibly now, with Jade, their deaths as well, we have to ask ourselves as a society, is it right, is it ethical for the Media to intrude in this manner.....? I personally believe that it is not, and the ethical implications of all this are pretty huge....

Cos you just KNOW that there's some utter scumbags out there in the Tabloids and Endemol who would probably just LOVE to film Jade Goody's last moments on earth to get ratings or boost their circulation, and the poor, sad, desperate cow would probably allow them to do it "for her kids' future"...... <_<

Craig also makes a pretty salient point about NHS cancer treatments.... The reality is that many cancer sufferers are not being treated at all well.... Surely, this is something which we should be focussing on, not just one minor celeb.....

I don't get it.

Surly, with cancer she should be at HOME with her FAMILY trying to muster up her ENERGY. For about the past month or two all I've seen in the shops on News/Magazine Stands is about Jade giving exclusive interviews or how she looks like.

She doesn't deserve to have cancer (no one does), and I hope she survives it, but there isn't a need to exploit it. Fight it, beat it then whore it out.

Does this mean there will be a second series of 'Living With Jade'?

What a prospect to look forward to

They'd probaly re-title it to "Dying With Jade..." mate...... -_-

Seriously... Don't think that it couldn't happen.... This is a fukkin' wet dream to some of these soul-less fukkin' "exec" b'astards..... <_<

Spot on.

But whilst the likes of Endemol & Max Clifford exist. Whilst we live in a post worship "Saint" Diana (the patron saint of the paparrazzi) world that hangs on every word of mouthy talent-nonentities vox-poppers Lily Allen & Cheryl Cole; and zombie like go to the record shops every December in our 750,000 to buy the new X-Factor's winning single because according to the likes of Simon Cowell & Louis Walsh they are the best thing since sliced bread..... then what do you expect.

Oh yes making money from Heat giving them "exclusive pics of Jade without her hair"......

There are other ways to make money than just, like others have said, whoring yourself out to the media.

That I suspect is going to be depressingly accurate.

Live in the public eye, die in the public eye :(

Oh yes making money from Heat giving them "exclusive pics of Jade without her hair"......

.

Exactly... That is just plain NASTY..... And, it really just plays to the lowest common denominators.....

Just WHY are we so bloody morbidly fascinated with some poor, dying woman....? I think it's time we all started asking ourselves some serious questions......

Except, we dont really like to ask ourselves these sorts of questions do we....? Too many home truths might come out.... Christ, this is just like the Roman Amphitheatres, Christians and Lions innit....? Don't we all just love a good old "freak show...."? Even better if someone actually dies innit....?

Christ, weren't Marilyn Manson and Lady Ga Ga totally right in their dissections of "celeb" culture....? I think most of us know GaGa's "Paparazzi"....

Manson writes in 'Lamb of God':

If you die when there's no one watching

and your ratings drop and you're forgotten

if they kill you on their TV

you're a martyr and a lamb of god

Back in the days when i used to go Church (), the priest compared Big Brother to Bedlam (sp??) in which rich people would watch demented, crazy people for entertainment...

pretty spot on comparison id say...

Oh yes making money from Heat giving them "exclusive pics of Jade without her hair"......

But at the end of the day, this is the only reason people are still following Jade's 'story' right now.. even fans of Jade are under no illusion that the women has any discernable talent. She may be dead within months, she is trying to make as much money as she can for her children's future, in my eyes she has little other means of making a decent sum, because she simply doesn't do anything except have people watch her! I am not saying it is what I'd do, I'm saying I can understand why she is doing it.

And as for that BLOODY 'Extras' clip, I cannot tell you how BORED I am of it. It was brilliant telly when it was broadcast, you do NOT need it to back up your every point with regards the media. It is so TIRING.

Doesn't make it any less true or valid though, does it....?

Then what was the point of bringing out all those perfumes??

Im sure there are still some places that make it.

And if she wanted to make money for her kids then she should of told her mum and scag of a boyfriend to go out and get a job rather than scavanging off of her money which is supposedly for her "kids"

People like her and Kerry Katona make me sick when they have scum bag boyfriends abusing their money right under their noses and their kids are close to being unsupported.

all the best to her.

Hmmm, interesting topic to the say the least.

Firstly, I do not like, nor have I ever liked Jade Goody. The woman has no reason to be famous, is arguably racist, most definitely a bully and I find pretty much everything she does to be in poor taste.

However, (like Jade) if I was in her situation and I knew I would potentially be dead within 6 months you damn right I would do every little thing I could to ensure the wealth of my child (well, children - I guess!) regardless of the moral implications. To be frank, I couldn't care less if people thought I was morally bankrupt for selling my story to this tabloid or that tabloid, at the end of the day she's looking after her kids - and that, to me, is instinctively the only thing a mother would do.

As for "whoring herself", do you really think that with everything Jade must be feeling now she actually wants to be photographed with no hair? Or telling the entire world how her kids are going to be raised motherless? I would be surprised if the woman can even bare to drag herself out of bed in the morning, let alone actually want to do it because of some sick fascination she has with being famous. Had this been over nothing and she had something to gain (financially or by other means) for herself then I would completely agree with the cynics, but she has absolutely nothing to gain from this. Yeah, sure she'll get plenty of money for splashing her story but is she actually going to be around to enjoy it? Most likely not. So in essence what is she doing? She's ensuring that her family, regardless of what we think of her deadbeat boyfriend or obscure mother, are provided for. They're still Jade's family, even if the public opinion of them is incredibly low - do you know what I mean? It's natural she'll want to provide for them. People can say "ah yeah well get out and get a job" etc, etc. But why work your arse off for minimum wage when you can make a probable 6 figure sum for one interview? That may be a lack of morals, but to me that's common sense.

In regards to the media coverage of this - yeah, of course there are moral implications to this. Should the media be covering this? Should Jade be left alone? Yes, she should be - if she wishes to be. Personally, I think Jade is entitled to do whatever she wants to do, as tactless as the British media can be at times I am quite sure that the majority would leave her be if she so wished, out of respect more than anything else. Maybe that's a tad naive of me to think that, but hey whatever.

To hit on the topic of "raising awareness" with her earnings from selling her story, again, I think Jade is entitled to do whatever she likes with it. One thing I love is empathy, being able to put yourself in someone elses place and genuinely state what you would do, and again, i'm with Jade. If I had to go through the heartache of splashing my tragic imminent death all over the tabloids to get a bit of extra cash to ensure the well being of my children, would I honestly give it to charity? No, I wouldn't. I, of course, would love to try and raise awareness, but would I honestly take money out of a fund for my motherless children to raise awareness? No, certainly not. I've worked hard "whoring" myself to the media to gain that money and it will go rightfully to my children and family.

To re-iterate the first part of my post, I cannot stand Jade Goody. Maybe I see things slightly differently because i'm a parent? I can't say for sure, but that's my honest opinion on the matter. I shall be back to give my counter-arguement later once Scott has replied. :P :heehee:

I agree with everything you said 100% It's besides the point if you like her or not! She might not be a great person or deserve to be famous etc... But, the fact is, imo shes a great mother and she lives for her kids! Like Kelly said, if you could whore yourself out a bit to secure your kids future, would you not? Of course you bloody would! And anyways who says otherwise is a liar.

And like Kelly said again....I hardly think Jade wants to be doing all this! The woman must be bloody knackered and feel terrible with all the treatment shes having, but yet shes still carrying on with everyday life with her kids and acting like everythings fine! She obviously isn't enjoying everyone seeing her looking the way she does right now and in a vunerable state! But shes getting on with it.......It doesn't matter if you like her or not, but, you have to admit this woman is very brave and a fighter! So kudos to her for that! A lot of women wouldn't be able to cope with what shes going through and carry on in the way she is!

Anyways, I hope she pulls through and carries on finding the strength to fight this like she has been doing. All the best Jade! :(

I just read this on MSN and I felt so bad for her. It's now a case of seeing how long they can keep her alive as opposed to save her life. So saddening to think she's lived so much of her life in the public eye and now she's going to die in the public eye too. And she has two young kids who probably have no idea what's going on. I don't like her but that's not really the point when it comes to cancer...

my thoughts exactly.... it's a shame for anyone, any age, to be struck down with this foul disease..... :(
