It's not respectful to speak ill of the dead.

Disagree Phil, I think when someone dies it is appropriate to have a discussion of their life both positive and negative

When Ben Johnson dies would it be unreasonable to bring up his drug taking ? when James Brown and Ike Turner died should their domestic violence be airbrushed from history just because they are no longer alive ? when George Best died should his drinking been off limits for discussion ? when Robert Mugabe dies should his ethnic cleansing be forgotten in the name of "respect" ?

I think it would be unreasonable not to debate her life itself even when she dies as long as it is not foul mouthed abuse towards her etc

That is kinda what i meant.

I'm not saying you can't discuss the fact that she has done very little for raising the awareness of cancer etc. but do it with a bit more class, no name calling, no low blows etc.

She's had plenty of low's (CBB much?) but treat her with some respect, she is a human being and she is on deaths door.

i'm not being very articulate about this, i know what i mean but i'm just not able to express it as clearly as i'd like,

Yeah anyone that says "Good riddance" "rot in hell bitch" and so on would be rightfully condemned, I will not be doing that

Anyone who does that imo should receive an rather nice boost to their warning level, if not a short ban.

While I am anything but a fan of Jade I find it in incredibly poor taste that OK Magazine have bought out a memorial edition this week with the words "Jade Goody 1981-2009" on it while she is still alive, that really is scraping the bottom of the barrel in gutter journalism doing that while she is still alive

I've literally just seen this issue advertised on TV and I find it ridiculous. Yes, it's unlikely she'll make it to the end of the week, though they said she'd be lucky to get past Monday/Tuesday and she's still fighting for her life, but it's incredibly poor taste. Couldn't they have waited a week?

Yeah time is running out for her for sure but agree fully they should have released it next week or something assuming she has passed on by then, the cover has stuff like "in loving memory" and "1981-2009" whle the girl is still alive :| I can't think of anything more disrespectful to her family and friends as this

  What about poor Natasha Richardson why does she Jade get all the sympathy. A great actress who has been pronounced brain dead after a fall, who is a mother and a respected actress. Iam sorry she ignored smears it is sad but there are way way more deserving people dying who are not getting there deserved kudos because of this Max Clifford media circus.

I have to say this one disturbed me quite a bit. I don't honestly 'get' how media have the right to do this with someone who isn't even dead yet? It's honestly one of the most disgusting things I have seen in my life. It just goes to show how much the media are engrossed to sell their magazines regardless to any thought to relating friends or members of the family.

Apparently OK confirmed today she is dead? I think probably they published that having had confirmation she's dead, and a statement has just yet to be released (not that I'm justifying it).

Goody family supports OK! tribute

BBC Entertainment News

The family of terminally ill reality TV star Jade Goody have expressed their support for a tribute issue of OK! magazine which went on sale this week.

The front cover, which states "in loving memory", has been called "very kind" by Goody's loved ones.

Journalists and some members of the public have criticised the magazine for pre-empting Goody's death.

But OK! magazine said the edition, which features her "final words", was "a celebration of Jade's amazing life".

No complaints had been received directly from the public, the publication added.

In a statement, OK! said Goody's family were "extremely grateful" for the support they had received from the magazine "during this distressing period".

A spokeswoman for Jade Goody's publicist Max Clifford confirmed her family supported the tribute issue.

Some national newspapers have come out against the magazine's publication while Goody is still alive.

Damian Thompson, in a blog on the Daily Telegraph's website, said he saw the front cover, with its black border and the dates 1981-2009, and "thought the poor girl was dead".

He added that OK! had "very tastefully jumped the gun" and argued it was a ploy to boost circulation figures.

Members of the public have been discussing the publication online, with many saying they think it is in bad taste.

Others presumed the magazine, which features pictures from Goody's seven years in the limelight, was published accidentally.

The magazine's website gives a taster to the special edition, stating it contains "world exclusive words from Jade Goody and unseen pictures as the brave star clings to life".

Apparently OK confirmed today she is dead? I think probably they published that having had confirmation she's dead, and a statement has just yet to be released (not that I'm justifying it).

Nope, from what I've read it seems that she's still alive and this is pre-empting her death:

not quite the same thing though... true its very sad news that shes had an unfortunate accident that could claim her life...very sad indeed, but 1) accidents happen, jades cancer was preventable, and 2) n r didnt live in the tawdry world of 'celeb' mags like jade did, id not have recognised n r in the street, but would jade goody... maybe thats wrong, but thats the way it is, and remember, i dont go looking at celeb mags

I'm still gobsmacked at OK. Talk about cashing in. Apparently her family released a statement today supporting the issue. I bet they do (££).

Surely wouldn't have killed them to wait until...you know...before publising. Find it very crude.

Wow, that is such bad taste :o I am actually disgusted at that, and I don't care if her family or friends support it. Yes she IS going to die this year but does she really want to read her own obituary?

I am and always have been a Jade supporter and i must admit i do find the Ok obituary a bit strange and in a way out of taste,i think thos ein ok presumed jade would be dead as it waas widely expected she had only hours to live on sunday morning, as a fan i think they should have held back until she actually died,i know her family are supporting it but i wonder does jade herslef know that its actually out on the shelves,

I know Jade is extremely weak and low but god love her she is fighting,i was convinced she would have slipped away by now with her been so weak she really is clinging on to her liife,i couldbt believed how quick she deteriorated over the weeknd but the only good thing is they seem to be controlling her pain which is something.

I know some people here dont like jade, myself and my girlfriend have been fans for years and been honest there isnt a night that goes by that we dont say a little paryer for her we almost feel like we are losing someone we actually know and like jade herself i would love a mirace to happen and not only for jade but for everyone in the same circimstances as her.

I never really liked Jade but you have to admire her for doing her best fighting the illness and spreading awareness. I feel really sorry for her 2 young boys who will be without a mum especially on mothers day.

Poor lass really did her best to fight. Good on her for making it this long.

I hope one day we will be able to prevent more people from going through the pain she did.
