Posted February 5, 200916 yr Joe Satriani's lawyers are planning to serve Coldplay with a writ at the Grammy Awards this Sunday (February 8), according to reports. Satriani claimed in December that Coldplay had ripped off his song 'If I Could Fly' on their 2008 single 'Viva La Vida'. However, the band strenuously denied any plagiarism, with Chris Martin telling NME Radio that the similarities were "a coincidence". With Coldplay set to perform at the Grammys, Fox News is reporting that Satriani's lawyer Howard King has hired a team to "dog the band everywhere they go" in order to personally serve them the papers. "We have warned their British lawyers that we have hired a fleet of process servers lined up to dog the band everywhere they go this weekend in the hope of serving them," said King. King is also rumoured to have drafted in a camera crew to film the attempts to serve the writ. Coldplay drummer Will Champion recently spoke about the situation, telling Confidential that the band found it "annoying". He said: "It's so far-fetched and ridiculous. But that's about all we can say at the moment. We're waiting to see what's happening but it's frustrating and annoying ...and totally unfounded."
February 5, 200916 yr LOL, I can imagine his lawyers trailing the band about the Grammys and not getting anywhere. I have listened to the song they apparently copied, and could not hear a massive similarity, tbh.
