I don't think it's that much cheaper than a normal month, but perhaps the newer songs (or ones being released) are a bit more mainstream than usual and are being released in the UK.

I think that's it to be honest...usually we have new songs, but from other countries, like Australia, US or Scandinavia and often those songs would never make it over here anyway...

I am interested in two things though

1) how well these songs will all perform in the scoreboard

2) if they all perform well, where will the contest move on from there? even I would start sending cheap songs if this became apparent the easiest way to do well...but then if everyone was sending cheap songs, the contest would be rendered pointless as few people would be discovering new music

usually when I look down a list of confirmed entries I literally only know 2 or 3 tracks already...I know about 10-15 of this month's already, but this could just be me being more in tune with upcoming releases than I have been in the past...I'm not sure to be honest :o

If it gets like that Nonsuch would withdraw from the contests, just as they did not participate until it became about finding unknown songs.

it probably won't get like that, VIII was a bit of a cheap month too but then IX and X were much more obscure...I'm sure it will go back to how it was next month, I hope at least, I'm not sure I like being familiar with so many songs before the voting has started

This seems like a normal contest to me? I dunno. I normally always know most of the songs though.
Which one will be your official entry? :o

What do you mean which one?

I hope The Veronica's don't stop as much as I love untouched. :( Come on, fourth time entered. I don't want them to flop though at all.

Guh I'm still bitter that both The Veronicas' songs entered after I entered Hook Me Up did better. :( And Untouched probably will too. *shakes fists*

Well I think Enrique, Lady Sovereign, The Veronicas, Lily Allen and PSB should all get good results, hardly anyone has a bad thing to say about those. Their release dates are still quite far off. (apart from Lily's which isn't scheduled for release but it's almost like sending "Shatered Glass" - most know it anyway) I don't think the others will do as well.

I think it's only a bit cheap this month because the gap between contests was so big that maybe people weren't thinking about release dates and where it would fit in. except me, I'm just shamelessly cheap for once I think you might just be more ahead of the game than usual. Some people get this every month.

You can't send the radio edit and the Klaas radio edit.

They only did marginally better. I've said it before too, but "Hook Me Up" isn't as good as any of the other Veronicas songs sent to this.

It's a shame no one looks to be sending something from their first album as I'd quite like an excuse to listen to the album, I've only heard their second one.

SOV and Lily I think will do well as they are both great inovative tracks so they sound like NEW music even if people already know them and I think that's really important as those of us who don't necessarily like supoorting cheaper entries may feel it is ok to support these. Pet Shop Boys will do well, I think the song takes a little time to grow on people though (I'm yet to be blown away when I hear it), Enrique I'm not so sure about, he sounds the cheapest entry to me.
Im sure everything will be back in track in next months...and it might be one more reason aswell why people (including me) this time are going with more "cheap" entries...january/february hardly brings new songs or new artists...or maybe its just me

I always find a ton of new music in Jan/Feb :o

and in my opinion Untouched>Hook Me Up>I Can't Stay Away>This Love but there are at least 4 better songs than all of these on their debut album, which unbelievably remains unused

Yes, untouched is slightly better than Hook Me Up.

But Hook Me Up rules all others its pretty epic

This contest this month is no cheaper than the last few one's as far as i've noticed, though there are just a few more songs entered with upcoming releases. Including my own, which seems to the only one who no one's paid that much attention too.

Oh I didn't know that (because it's the same song just a remix) Actually I linked both because both is good imo but of course it's the radio edit I send ;)

This contest seems very unnormal to me tbh. So many cheap entries (although i haven't heard half of them - Leave!, Can't Get Over etc.)

Oh and: I Can't Stay Away>Hook Me Up>Untouched>This Love :heehee:

the only one I still haven't heard is Leave, odd how this looked like the cheapest entry to start off with but now it looks like one of the least cheap :heehee:

and now one of Kelly Clarkson's album leaks to add to the cheap proceedings  well, why not, fantastic song anyway!

Personally I think this contest is going to be the cheapest one I have participated in so far.

I think there was something in V as it was before I joined, but it probably wasn't an argument, just someone complaining about a bad result that I didn't understand as an outsider.

Possibly my inability to vote, which haunts me to this day

ah yes, the infamous 'let's ban Rihanna and Britney etc... clause' didn't really have a wave of support did it :heehee:

It was very Marmite...I really still don't see what possible opposition there is to it tbh :/
