TBH, I'd rather have Russell Brand doing that show than the ignorant, stupid, lardy loudmouth that is Chris Moyles.....

In fact, better yet, Adam and Joe..... Or maybe they're just a bit too "clever" for the masses.....

If it gets them off 6Music, that's a great idea. Someone should point out to them that the station is called 6Music, not 6Whitter.

They only time I change my morning alarm to Radio 1 is when Scott "Stand In" Mills is on when Moyles is on holiday.

Now he is what I call a quality daytime radio DJ, perhaps the best daytime mainstream Radio DJ "1FM" has to offer.

In short he is a vast improvement on the lame unfunny shock joke and self proclaimed "Saviour OF Radio 1" which is about as ridiculous a statement as Simon Cowell calling himself "The Saviour of British Pop Music".

I think it's slightly blown out of proportion, but I would like him sacked purely because I think he's a silly, egotistical w*n**r.

Scott Mills is a funny one really. Great DJ, but I think that's only now he's stopped trying to be comical and being himself seems to work quite nicely.

its a (late) surprise birthday przzy from clare. hes ok, can be funny, like his obscure referances he uses, dislike his overt sexism and childish pranks .... we will see.

for the record.... brand was good! not side splittingly funny, but highly entertaining. i like the way he can quote shakespear in ad-libs one minute , the next he can be vulgar. i like the way he can slip into a variety of characters, he would be great in a dickensian role, he would make a very good actor.

I take it you never saw him playing Flash Harry in the "St Trinians" remake then... I'm afraid he was utter cack..... Couldn't hold a candle to George Cole IMO.... Mind you, the film itself was appalling, so maybe not all his fault..... -_-

Personally, I find Moyles funny which is all i ask of my radio as I go to work everyday. I know he's going to say stupid things, some of which i won't agree with, but I can accept that not everyone has the same opinions as me so I take them with a pinch of salt. I couldn't care less if he's homophobic (which I really don't think he is), sexist or whatever his humour is lighthearted and enjoyable to listen to. If the media was full of politically correct people everywhere then the world would be a very dull place.

My favourite comedian of all time is Bill Hicks... Now, Hicks was hardly what you could call PC, but he would never, ever stoop so low as the likes of Moyles or indeed Ross and Brand... Simply because he was a lot cleverer, a lot sharper and put a lot of thought into his material, he knew how to hit his targets, and what those targets were.... The difference between the likes of Hicks, Rob Newman and Jimmy Carr and the likes of Brand, Moyles and Ross is the difference between truly great comedy and utter, simple-minded garbage that merely goes out to cause offence without having any purpose.....

So, you are wrong in your hypothesis that the only alternative to the dull political correctness are the likes of Moyles... Moyles, to me, is just a re-constituted, "nu" version of maggots like Jim Davidson or Roy Chubby Brown, not big, not clever, just cr@p..... The Alternative Comedians of the 80s like Rik, Ade, Ben Elton, Alexei Sayle, etc were an antidote to the puerile, sexist, racist "humour" of the 70s..... Seems the poison has come back....

It is unfair bringing Bill Hicks into this though ... no-one compares to him at all. Hick's comedy, or rather - bloody hilariously funny, acute observations of everything from everyday little things like annoying children on airplanes to big corporation matters (and his particular pet hate - Marketing and Advertising People) puts him on a plateau way, way above his peers and every comedian since his tragically early death from pancreatic cancer (a cancer he suffered in silence - so much so that I didn't even know he was suffering from it when I saw him a year before his death). The only comedians to come close recently are Rich Hall and Reg D Hunter.
