They deserved it!

They made their MOST musical album this year and they were "busy" the whole year. (Denial, Girls, Catfights and Spotlights, No Can Do).

It don't understand it why they were not nominated.

What do YOU think?

because they are a girl group who didn't sell much this year.

They shouldn't have been nominated this year, but it was a travesty they didn't get nominated last year.

They did get nominated last year for AYN, but that didn't even get through to the last 5.

AYN is a musical masterpiece and it didn't get any recognition, yet The Promise (which i think is one of the worst GA songs) wins a brit (over Mercy).

Just my opinion though, so please don't bite my head off.

They really really didnt IMO. Last year - they should have got nominated for something other than Best Single yes, but this year, no.

i dont know about this year, they havent really showcased the album very well. I do think its a travesty that the babes werent nominated (properly nominated) last year. they should have got a nom for best group instead of GA, but GA are definatly more 'popular' at the moment.

ps Promise winning is absolute pisstake considering call the shots didnt get a mention last year.

AYN should have walked it last year.

But unlike GA the babes fan base isn't full of loons who mass vote for everything.

TBH, the babes have always been under recognised at the brits. they won theirs for Best Dance Act. wtf much?

It's a shame really that The Brits got rid of the genre awards. The could have been nominated for Best Pop last year if the category existed.
i do think there needs to be more awards at the brits, look at the amount the Grammys have, now that would be a proper award show.

They really didn't deserve a brit this year as this era hasn't been that succesful, but yeah I agree they should have won or been nominated more in past years.

Tbh though I think the Brits is pretty boring these days its almost always the same artists winning, and there is always random people for eg. 'Seasick Steve' and 'Beth Rowley' nominated, have these ever had success in the UK? I was very suprised 'The Promise' won best single, bout time a girlband won something. I think the Saturdays should have been nominated.

If that was the case then Coldplay or Take That should have won best group. no? Considering everyone at work was "Elbow....who?"

I think the Awards should be the following,

British Female Solo

British Breakthrough

British Male Solo

British Live Act

British Live Set

British Band

British Pop Group

British Record Of The Year

British Song (For songwriters and producers)

British Album Of The Year

British Vocal Performance

British Instrumental Performance

and all of the same ones for international.

Plus all the extra ones like critics choice and outstanding contribution.

Yeah but if we did that though, it'd turn into the Grammys. As for them not being nominated, I'm not really that surprised, 2008 was a pretty rubbish year for the girls, I don't think "Girls" would've been considered for song of the year, nor "catfights and spotlights" for album of the year. But should've won something last year for their Change album.. It just proves that Brits are totally biased nowadays

they didn't have a successful year, so i don't believe they deserved a brit at all.

you should be happy they were even nominated after the disaster that was 'catfights & spotlights'. there's thousands of acts out there that would love to be recognised by the brits.

anyway, these award shows are a load of pants. it's all a popularity contest, sadly.

I'm not being funny, but I dont think the girls deserved to be nominated because all the songs mentioned have all failed. I mean "Catlights and Spotlights" flopped and "No Can Do" with it's S and M video just made the top 30. Some of the recent songs have not been as strong as "About You Now" and awarding them a Brit Award for their poor efforts is just laughable.

I blame Amelle for their demise.

they weren't nominated for anything tho

oh, they weren't nominated at all? yeah, that's no surprise.

a little break, a killer lead single & album along with top-notch promotion will see them rise back up.

to the dude above - i don't think Ms Thang is to blame at all. they have still enjoyed success since she joined the group all those years ago. i think this era bombed because of its lead single (good song, just not single material), artwork is trash, album title is stupid and as i understand, this album was took in a different direction than their previous ones. they need to find their niche and stick to it.

Jamelia tried to get on that pop-rock sh*t with 'WWM' and no one cared. people liked her for doing the R&B numbers and spittin' some lyrics half-way through songs like "one", "dirty dirty" and "taxi". not doing some kelly clarkson type of song with "something about you". my friend says he hears the remix to the "beware of the dog" song (the one where Jamelia starts spittin') more often than the original in the clubs in london.

anyway, yeah. not that i like their music much (i'm here for the lady who escaped through a toilet window while they toured japan), but they seemed to do well with their "push the button", "about you now" type of music. although, i would like to hear them do something different and if this latest effort is infact different, then i should probably download it and give it a listen.

question - what kind of music is it? i hear it's pretty retro and all live? no over-produced mess? and before i saw them perform "no can do" acoustic, i used to think they sounded like cats being strangled. but they sound really good with a live band.

How very f***ing dare you.

Queen Amelle ftw. :smoke:

yeah, i just realised. my mistake.

i think Ms Thang and Diva K will take it like water off a duck's back, shrug their shoulders and say "who cares?" - ESPECIALLY ameril or whatever she's called. i like her. she seems intimidating and has this 'don't give a f*ck' type of attitude. and i'm SURE she'd be quick to pull out her earrings and beat your ass with her shoe if you say the wrong thing to her. but if you're nice, she's cool. GET IT.

Great Post.

C&S is very One Touch.

Live the girls are rather epic. they don't do too bad a job of the old stuff.

They really should do a proper live album, this was kinda stripped back a little bit, a bit more raw. As we saw with Real Girl it doesn't really sell.

The album however is a masterpiece. How people can say Change should have been nominated i will never know. What a pile of w***.
