February 19, 200916 yr Is it me or Take That weren't even singing live ? :o Yeah i think they were miming but the performance was good :D
February 19, 200916 yr Yeah i think they were miming but the performance was good :D I just think it's funny that some people on here said how AMAZING TT performance was and how POOR the Girls Aloud performance was, when in the end all that Take That had to do is to stand up on a space platform with lots of special effects and lights and throwing their hands to the audience, oh, and they had not to forget to mime too... surely those people are a bit biased ? Just seen the Kylie introduction and it was really cool :P Queen Kylie was amazing last night  A really good show overall, I enjoyed most of the performances, and I'm quite happy with the winners, though I would have enjoyed more diversity (3 may be a bit too much for Duffy considering the great people in the competition).
February 19, 200916 yr The stage set up overall looked really good this year! Girls Aloud sounded awful. But I really liked the Estelle/Ting Tings mash up!

Well I'm one of those who thought Girls Aloud were good. After watching it for a second time ... I'd change it to very good. Take That though (although I'm annoyed that they mimed any part of it) the first half looked (and definitely sounded) live. It was only when that thing they were on reached the ground that you could definitely tell it was being mimed. Personally I'd rather they'd have just stood on the main stage and given the usual terrific performances they do like they did two years back. Mind you - all the Britney fans raved about her 'performance' on X-Factor ... so maybe we're allowed to rave about their performance at this year's Brits. Either way ... the whole show totally left me underwhelmed. And to be honest ... there were a few acts performing there that I wish HAD mimed! Norma Edited February 19, 200916 yr by Norma_Snockers

(norma! :P) christ, I could have done what they did!
February 19, 200916 yr Am I the only one who thought Duffy sounded god awful? Other than the big "coooome" note I thought she sounded terrible. I've heard her sing that a lot better in the past. Take That's performance setup was amazing, I loved the spaceship. A shame they mimed some of it.
February 19, 200916 yr great to see Kings of Leon win and perform also Brandon Flowers amazing as ever!!
February 19, 200916 yr The only ones of those I saw were Kylie (funny), Girls Aloud (good) and Estelle/Ting Tings. Now, I'm a big fan of both acts, it must be said, but I'm disappointed that some people are saying it is one of the worst Brits performances ever. When Estelle came out I did think 'I don't think this works' but from American Boy verse 2 onwards to That's Not My Name with Katie, Stell and Jules all doing different parts, I thought it was epic! I loved Kings of Leons performance for example, but it could have been the radio edit! I mean that's testemant to Caleb's cracking voice, but also it didn't make it as exciting as it couild have been with some adlibs or different melodies - that's what I loved Estelle and the Tings, it excited me!
February 19, 200916 yr well said! :) christ, I could have done what they did! Come on then! Lets see a picture of you in skin tight suit and sexy specs. As I've said ... I'm disappointing they did mime part of this. I'm certain the first bit when they were 'up top' was live (Gary's voice sounded a bit off and he didn't go for the high notes). It was when the space-ship thing landed that it seemed to switch. Either way ... they are great live - I know from the Beautiful World tour - I was right next to the 'B' stage where nothing could be hidden. They sang live the last time they were at the Brits anyway ... so who cares if they mimed this once. Mind you ... if they do it again ... I shall be very cross with them! Having said all that ... I wasn't too convinced about the first half of the PSB's performance ... certainly sounded like voices hadn't changed one iota in 20 odd years! Hmmm ... but that's just my suspicious mind! Anyway - Gary was live at the Warchild Affair immediately after the Brits and singing with your favourite band Rob .... Coldplay! Norma I will re-state too ... there really were some acts last night that SHOULD have mimed!

(norma! :P) christ, I could have done what they did!  No doubt you thought it was PATHETIC when The Beatles mimed in the past, or The Rolling Stones; or David Bowie; or Kate Bush; or Prince; or Michael Jackson; or Madonna; etcetra....... The bottom line is singing that live with the UFO set up was impossible to keep the transmission going from start to finish with the hydraulics and the risk of the mics cutting out Norman Collier style. As Take That have proven time and time again they are the best pop act in the business for live vocal performances; therefore as it was not practical or technologically possible for them to sing live all the way through then putting on a spectacle like that was great TV.

After the second watching it was definitely live at the start. I'm going to watch it again to see exactly where the changeover was. Its no good trying to defend TT on here though. I believe Rob was one of the many that said their performance of Patience two years ago was sh*te (or words to that effect) and they were totally live then ... Take That cannot win on BJ - they'll be forever detested as uncool and old-hat and now ... mimers! On another point - after the second watching of the show - it looked a lot to me like the PSB's first half performance was mimed. I may be wrong ... but it looked (and definitely sounded) like it to me. Norma
February 19, 200916 yr I thought the Ting Tings & Estelle's collab was pretty dire, to be honest. It was almost cringe worthy. I didn't like the performance by Girls Aloud, but then, I don't really like the song. The Loving Kind is so much better. Take That's performance was quite enjoyable. For a bland song, anyway. When I've watched some of their past performances, they've not mimed, so you can't really shoot them down. It's not like they mime all the time. Duffy sounded pretty good in the second half of the song. Kings of Leon shocked me. I've not been interested in the band before, but after that performance I feel inclined to buy their latest album. As for someone saying Kylie was funny... was she even trying to be funny? If she was, man, that was bad. I thought she was quite sweet, but I can't think of one comedic moment...
February 19, 200916 yr As for someone saying Kylie was funny... was she even trying to be funny? If she was, man, that was bad. I thought she was quite sweet, but I can't think of one comedic moment... I don't think she was funny or trying to be even. I think she was trying to stay in control of the situation but the effort of trying to restrain two overgrown, un-toilet trained toddlers with the combined entertainment value of a toilet roll and a saucepan was too much for the gorgeous Kylie even. I think had she been hosting it on her own ... it would have been a darned sight better. She was one of the few things right with the show as far as I was concerned. I actually despair of the Brits EVER getting it right with regard to hosts and presenters. The best in recent years was Russell Brand and for some reason people hated him. Norma
February 19, 200916 yr Girls Aloud did a good job IMO, it wasnt their best performance of the song but it was better than most of the them. Shame TT mimed, the glasses were slightly WTF? Estelle and Ting Tings were OK, Estelle looks so smug most of the time though.
February 19, 200916 yr when people say that Take That sound good live don't they mean Gary Barlow. :heehee: :kink:
