Stelios, Beverley Knight and Rof Harris have all been given the nod by the Queen in her 80th Birthday honors.

however would you turn down a knighthood or OBE if it was given to you?

No I would accept it

The honours system is an out dated concept but they are public recognition for achievement so were I to do something that was felt deserving of public honour then I would feel proud that my achievements had been regarded at such a high level

When the Queen dies I think the system should be scrapped and replaced with a new system but were I offered an honour I would accept

I'm sorry but BEVERLY KNIGHT? Why is good old Liz even LISTENING to such turgid, recycled insipidity.

But yes, if I was to get the honour I would welcome it with OPEN ARMS.

well of course i will be in recognition to all the good she's done to the black community.

and has not lowered herself to showing off her arse (which are like the boobies of the black community if you've ever seen any hip hop magazines like Vibe Vixens)

Why would anyone turn it down? I sure wouldn't :cheer:

anti-royals etc etc. protesting etc

it's an irrelevance - made to look even more irrelevant by awarding such d-list pop acts as Beverley Knight.
I'd never accept it in a million years. ( Not that it's gonna happen  )

Being titled carries perks though

If you are a Sir or a Lord or something then you are assured of anything

I underwent several years of voice coaching so can do dozens of different accents so one day when I booked a restaurant table in a nice restaurant I phoned up and called myself Lord Thompson of Hertsmere in an exquisite posh accent and they absolutely went beyond the call of duty and really sucked up etc whereas if I had phoned up in my typical cockney / south london accent I very much doubt I would have got the same level of sycophancy

Likewise having a title after name etc pretty much assures you of upgrades on flights etc

You've pretty much defined everything that is utterly wrong about the whole system.....

A title means fukk all to me, you gotta earn respect as far as I'm concerned, and you don't do that by sucking up to the Royal parasites.....

Yeah I did it as an experiment

I booked a table in the name of Lord Thompson of Hertsmere (sadly had to cancel a couple of hours before the meal when Lady Thompson was taken ill ;) ) and a few days later I booked a table in my usual accent and the treatment and attitude was TOTALLY different, they really sucked up to Lord Thompson whereas in my normal accent I was treated with indifference

It is pathetic they were fawning all over someone because of a supposed title
