March 3, 200916 yr Author I will do my ranking list from their albums 1. Acthung Baby 2. The Joshua Tree 3. Rattle and Hum 4. All That You Can Leave Behind 5. How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb 6. The Unforgettable Fire 7. War 8. Zooropa 9. Boy 10. October 11. No line on the horizon 12. Pop Over the next few weeks no line on th ehorizon could easily swap places with pop ,but i will give it a few more chances My advide would be to stick with it. The album is most definatly a grower, far more so than the last two. It is not a very commercial album, there is not a big collection of potential singles, which is perhaps why you don't like it? Personally I'm glad of that as it's more a proper complete album which is prefer. It is interesting that Pop is your least favourite and Achtung Baby is your favourite cause a huge amount of U2 who love AB love Pop almost as much. I personally think Pop is criminally underrated as an album and think October and Rattle And Hum are by a mile their worst albums. Don't agree about the sound. It sounds great on my stereo, although it also sounds great on my ipod.
March 3, 200916 yr My cd has finally arrived. I will be having my first listening session later tonight -_-
March 4, 200916 yr I've had my first listen. Anyway, I was lying in bed in the darkness with my headphones on. White As Snow had just finished and I opened my eyes, aware that it looked strangely light outside. So I trots over to the window. And................ http://i44.tinypic.com/359k8r7.jpg :w00t:
March 8, 200916 yr Here is my review :smoke: No Line on the Horizon I like the intro to this. It’s a reasonably strong opening song. I prefer the verses to the Chorus. And I’m not keen on the part where Bono screeches like a cat being strangled. But I like it better now than I did at first so maybe it needs another few listens. 7/10 Magnificent  Loved this from first listen. Now this is ‘real’ U2. Pulsating guitar anthem. Wouldn’t be out of place on War or the Unforgettable Fire. It builds, builds and builds. Cracking chorus. My favourite on the album. 10/10 Moment of Surrender Hmmmm. I so wanted to adore this. It’s very bluesy. It’s very long. It’s certainly epic. It just doesn’t push my buttons somehow. Again I love the verses more than the chorus. I find it a bit *shudders* boring :o …… (awaits backlash) 8/10 (for the verses) Unknown Caller This one has really grown on me. And I actually now like this strange song. Very much. Restart and reboot yourself etc etc. Lyrics are total nonsense. But then I never said I was sane did I? :P 9/10 I’ll Go Crazy If I Don’t Go Crazy Tonight Loved this one on first listen too. Ok, nothing experimental or remotely leftfield here. But it’s a simple sing-a-long which should be great Live. Not sure about the Falsetto parts though  . I give it 9/10 Get On Your Boots Why? :( On the plus side, at least it’s short. 4/10 Stand Up Comedy Rawwwwwk!!!! Yip, Jupsy’s foot taps along to this one. Sounds a bit Chili Peppersy. Which is no bad thing. Another one which would be good Live I expect. 8/10 Fez:Being Born I sense Brian Eno’s hand here. Another very unusual one. But I find myself strangely drawn to it. Then again, I loved Lemon, didn’t I? 7.5/10 White As Snow I’ve still to make my mind up about this one. On some listens I think it’s beautifully atmospheric and poignant. On other listens I think it’s totally dreary and I find I’m skipping it after about 2 minutes  . Between 6/10 and 8/10. Breathe Rawwwwwk (again)!!!! I wasn’t just gonna buy anyone’s cockatoo. Indeed. Likey Likey this one. I suspect I’m a Rock Chick at heart. I love the crazy lyrics and the fact there are hundreds of words all seemingly crushed in. 9/10 Cedars of Lebanon Now this one I didn’t like at all on first listen. But guess what? I love it now. Great lyrics. Makes me feel all mellow inside. A great chill out ending to the album. 9/10 So overall, it’s a very good album. Not in the Achtung Baby or Joshua Tree League. And it hasn’t got the stand-out commercial singles I don’t think (which kind of worries me). But it’s a very consistent album. I’m not skipping many songs here. It’s kind of different. And different is good. So I’d give it probably 8/10 at the moment.
March 8, 200916 yr Between 6/10 and 8/10. Isn't that 7/10? :P I love your review Jupsy. I should make mine in few days, when I come home. ^_^
March 8, 200916 yr No :o It's a 6/10 when I find it dreary. It's an 8/10 when I find it poignant and atmospheric. Never a 7! :P
