our CD player behind the music and video desk at work broke today whilst I was covering the desk for two hours at lunchtime so I was allowed to plug my iPod into the sound system so that we still had music playing across the half of the store where the 'Home & Leisure' department is

so what did I do? put it on my FSR Rontvia playlist on my iPod and had an hour and a half of all of my entries blasting out across the store  it was rather hilarious hearing the likes of Mine All Mine and M.A.G.I.C. blasting out over a supermarket PA system, it certainly made my work more interesting, especially as absolutely nobody who I worked with knew any of the songs that were being played apart from Love Song and Glorious!!!

I did have to skip past Smack Me though as I didn't feel that the lyrics were particularly 'Asda friendly' :heehee:

EDIT: Oh right, you've added something to this thread now :o That does sound rather fantastic! :cheer: I'm sure you could've gotten away with Smack Me as well tbh :smoke:

Did Headhunted get played? :o I bet there's someone out there now that heard it and is wondering what this amazing hit-in-the-making is...

And you should so go for a BJSC playlist sometime :kink:

LMAO I would love to do that! That sounds hilarious. Ooh and I might give Love Song a listen actually, it's been a while.

maybe not, they don't even play I Kissed A Girl in Asda for fear of it being too risque so I doubt Smack Me would have been allowed! :heehee: Headhunted did indeed get played, everything apart from Smack Me was played...I have to admit though, Driving sounded rather underwhelming turned up loud :nocheer: Mine All Mine sounded brilliant, and honestly like the sort of thing Asda FM would love and would play to death if it got a UK release

I shockingly don't have a general BJSC playlist on my iPod...someone needs to make a best of BJSC compilation and do a zip file on rapidshare or something that we could all download to put on our iPods

oh, and seeing as I had a bit of time left over on the music desk after my entries finished, I also played Alexander Rybak's Fairytale :kink: just because I was intrigued to hear how it sounded whacked up loud over a PA system! It sounded perfect  they should put me in charge of choosing the music to play in Asda from now on I think :kink:

There is a Best of the BJSC compilation - it's called the Best of the BJSC semi-finals + 10 autoqualifiers :P I'm sure you also have the best of the BJSC since then on your iTunes/Pod :heehee:

lol imagine walking into your local supermarket and hearing "Smack me" while doing your grocerie shopping.

Next time make sure to put Kate Miller Heidke words up! :P

Oh I know......next time you get the chance put on Irelande douze points, I dare you! :kink:

maybe! not in full HQ though :P and I don't have a lot of the winners on MP3 at all to be honest, like And Then We Kiss and Black Butta for example...

oh yes, I have that on my iPod actually, I could have played it earlier :heehee:

So I'm not the only one with my own entries on a playlist on my iPod. (though it's not very long)

Gosh, I'd love a HQ file of "Black Butta". I obviously have the album version and an average quality version of that performance but it's not the same.

I actually have my favourite BJSC entries on a playlist too but unfortunately it's mostly Youtube rips and songs that I consider the Best Of, not necessarily what the majority think.

We should start our own supermarket chain, and each month the songs participating in the contest would be the songs played and songs from bjsc's past.

and we could have Beverley Knight and Maria Haukaas Storeng as our mascots, we could have big cardboard cutouts of them welcoming people into the supermarket it would be amazing! [/completerandomness]

is the album version quite underwhelming in comparison to the live version then? I would actually pay to download an HQ live version if one existed

it's surprising that I don't have a 'best of BJSC' playlist but then again, looking at my 'top 100 Most Played' list is basically like looking at a BJSC playlist...Jamali's Secrets being my most played non-Rontvian BJSC song ever, and 6th most played song since I got iTunes 18 months ago :o

my most played song incidentally, is Mine All Mine

that would have an incredibly high start up cost just to play BJSC songs! maybe I should go and get a job presenting at a radio station where you can pick your own songs...it could be 'BJSC lunchtime with Rich' :heehee:

LMAO, maybe you should try and play Indian music next time :magic:

 Wow! I wish i had a chance to do that with my entries. Next time - turn the ESC 2009 entries on so that people will be able to get ready for the upcoming event :P

Compiling a zip file is a good idea though. I am sure i have half of songs as mp3 files and in HQ :heehee:

like any of the shoppers would care anyway :heehee: we are usually allowed to play any CD that we stock in our CD player but we never seem to stock the ESC compilations :snif:

Decide for yourself:

It's still one of my favourite songs, but I think she really goes for it on the Jools Holland performance and it really gives it a boost. Actually, there is a live version of "Black Butta" on iTunes from an iTunes London Festival. :o I've yet to download it though because it's obviously a different performance and I haven't heard it all the way through. She might start talking on it - I know that Estelle talks on some of her performances on a similar thing based on the previews. I might see if it's on Spotify in a bit actually.

 I knew you liked "Secrets", but not that much! :o Actually, my most played song is also my BJSC VII entry.

Secrets was so infectious and underrated, surely the winner of the next Rejects competition :o I absolutely adore it
