Drummer Andy Burrows has quit Razorlight following a trip to the US with frontman Johnny Borrell.

 

The group's official statement, called Farewell Andy, made no mention of a rumoured bust-up, saying Burrows left for "personal reasons".

 

It added that after five years the Winchester-born musician is opting for a quieter life away from their hectic touring schedule.

 

But no doubt more solo work will be on the cards - the 29-year-old released his own album The Colour Of My Dreams in 2008.

 

Johnny said in the statement: "Over the last two albums and five years Andy has been an integral part of Razorlight and we will miss him.

 

"From the day he walked into our rehearsal studio it was obvious that he was an amazing drummer and he's contributed on many levels beyond that."

 

He added: "He's been a great player and a great friend and I think we'll both always be proud of the music we've made together."

 

New Yorker David Sullivan Kaplan, aka Skully, is filling in for their live shows until the end of 2009.
