July 26, 200915 yr Brawn didn't know they had a problem on the car, It was quite clear from the moment that Alonso left the pits that the wheel had not been tightened sufficiently.
July 26, 200915 yr Author I think personally that this is a vindictive action by Mosley against Renault as Briatore has been the main public speaker of the FOTA movement that has been trying to break away from F1 so this is Mosley's vindictive streak to put one over on Briatore I totally agree. His personal vendetta against Ron Dennis and his McLaren team only ended after Ron was driven out of the sport for the sake of the team, and now he has gone after the vocal leader of the FOTA movement at the earliest possible opportunity. It does not take a genius to work out why this has happened.
July 27, 200915 yr Author Full recovery possible for Massa autosport.com By Peter Farkas Monday, July 27th 2009, 18:00 GMT Felipe Massa's car, HungaryFelipe Massa's condition is continuing to improve as doctors at the AEK Hospital in Hungary, where the Brazilian driver is being treated, denied earlier reports of eye damage and instead suggested he could make a full recovery. Colonel Dr. Lajos Zsiros, the chief surgeon of the Hungarian Defence Forces, told a news conference on Monday that the 28-year-old had been woken from sedation on Monday afternoon, and was unlikely to be sedated again. "In the last 24 hours some major changes have gone through in the condition of Felipe Massa," said Zsiros. "His condition continues to be stable. "During the CT-scan we performed we could ascertain that there was an improvement in his condition. We stopped sedation and after that Felipe Massa became capable of making contact." "So in the afternoon we stopped the artificial ventilation of Felipe. As we speak he is sleepy, but he gives adequate answers to the questions we ask him, and he can move his arms and legs spontaneously." "Right now he has no fever, and we have removed the drain tube from his wound. Further improvement of his condition can be expected. During the night we do not plan to do any more interventions on him." Zsiros denied the earlier reports that Massa had injured his left eye, which led to speculation about his future participation in Formula 1. Peter Bazso, the hospital's medical director, explained that it was in fact too early to tell if there was any damage because Massa was still unable to open the eye: "We can give no positive neither negative answer to this, because at this stage the vision cannot be examined." Bazso made it clear however that a full recovery was still entirely possible for the Brazilian. "There is no such thing as 'this condition', because every case is different," he pointed out. "Of course it isn't impossible." When asked when they will be able to determine if Massa has suffered any kind of lasting injury, Zsiros said: "There is no interval which we can define, but I would say it should be from one week to ten days." He added that Massa would remain in intensive care as long as his condition made that necessary. Dino Altmann, the Chief Medical Officer of the Brazilian Grand Prix, who also attended the news conference, confirmed Massa was now able to speak. "He spoke, he wanted to know what happened to him. And he had some questions," Altmann revealed. "I would like to say that the family is very happy with the treatment Felipe is receiving here, and there's no question about transfer at the moment." Altmann said they haven't asked Massa yet if he was able to remember the accident. He also explained that the operation on Saturday, which doctors described as "life-saving", was performed because of the skull damage, not because of brain swelling. A spokesman for the AEK hospital confirmed Massa's family were already in Budapest, and a room was made available for them so they could stay with him at all times. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Fingers crossed for Felipe Massa, that he has not done permanent damage to his eye.
July 28, 200915 yr Michael Schumacher open to Formula One return A Ferrari spokesman did not rule out the possibility of Schumacher returning, but stressed it was too early to say anything and added that Massa's health was dominating the Scuderia's thoughts at this time. Massa is recovering in a hospital in Budapest after being hit by a metal spring while travelling at 162mph during qualifying for last weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix. The Brazilian will certainly miss next month's European Grand Prix in Valencia and is expected to sit out for the rest of the year. His career could even be over if it emerges that his vision is impaired by injuries sustained to his left eye. Schumacher, who retired from Formula One at the end of the 2006 season, told the BBC in an interview at the German Grand Prix two weeks ago that he was not interested in returning to the sport in which he won seven titles, five with Ferrari. However, his spokeswoman Sabine Kehm has explained that the German was referring to a permanent return. "Usually, I would say he's not interested because he's fine with his life and he doesn't miss anything but now the situation is so different - it's very hypothetical - and Michael doesn't want to step into that [discussion]," she said. "The whole thing will be considered by Ferrari. If they approach Michael, then he will consider it. But there is no reason for him to step into their discussion." Kehm added that Schumacher was in good shape, although a neck injury sustained in a motorcycle accident in February might pose a problem. "Michael had a motorcycle accident in February when he had a neck problem - and I really can't tell you if his neck would be fine to drive an F1 race," she said. "If Ferrari asked him whether he would consider driving, he would have it checked - and remember he is a 40-year-old man, too." The latest prognosis is that Felipe Massa is likely to be walking out of hospital within the next 10 days, and his swollen eye has now shown no obvious signs of damage as it has been reported tonight that he can see with it. Hence prior to further tests on it, hopefully he'll be racing again well before the season is out. 2. It is more likely that 2010 Ferrari driver Alonso or a hacked off Brawn GP driver former Ferrari driver Barrichello or even the recently retired David Coulhard would be in the seat at Valencia. 3. Most likely it will be Ferrari test driver Marc Gene.

July 29, 200915 yr Schumacher makes shock F1 return Michael Schumacher will make a shock return to Formula 1 to replace injured Ferrari driver Felipe Massa. The seven-time world champion, 40, retired at the end of 2006 but has agreed to drive at the European Grand Prix in Valencia on 23 August. Massa fractured his skull in Hungarian GP qualifying and may be out for the rest of the year. Schumacher, who is a Ferrari advisor, said: "For team loyalty reasons I can't ignore this unfortunate situation." " His spokesman Sabine Kehm told the BBC on Tuesday that although Schumacher was not willing to make a full-time return to F1 he would not rule out standing in for Massa. Now, the German racing legend has decided to come out of retirement and make a sensational return despite admitting: "It is true that the Formula 1 chapter has long been closed for me. "The most important thing first: thank God, all news concerning Felipe is positive, and I wish him all the best again. "This afternoon I met with team principal Stefano Domenicali and Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo and together we decided that I will prepare myself to take the place of Felipe. "As the competitor I am, I also very much look forward to facing this challenge." The German racing legend has not driven an F1 car since April 2008 and now has just over three weeks to prepare himself for Valencia. The ban on in-season testing means Schumacher will not be able to turn a wheel of the 2009 specification Ferrari before first practice on Friday 21 August. However, the team have chosen Schumacher ahead of test drivers Marc Gene and Luca Badoer to drive for Ferrari whilst Massa continues to recuperate. "Ferrari intends to entrust Michael Schumacher with Felipe Massa's car for as long as the Brazilian driver is not able to race," a statement said. "Michael Schumacher has shown his willingness and in the next few days he will undergo a specific programme of preparation at the end of which it will be possible to confirm his participation in the championship starting with the European Grand Prix." Schumacher will undergo an intensive training programme to determine whether he is fit enough to return to the rigours of F1 racing. Since retiring the German has occasionally taken part in motorcycle events but in February he suffered neck and back injuries in a bike accident. Those injuries could affect his ability to drive an F1 car which places huge pressures on the neck because of the varying G-forces. Massa has had surgery on a fractured skull sustained when a spring from Rubens Barrichello's Brawn hit him on the helmet when he was travelling at more than 160mph during qualifying in Hungary on Saturday. The Brazilian is due to leave intensive care and is making progress, though there is also concern about damage to his left eye. Schumacher is close to Massa, who was his team-mate in his final season, and has taken a close interest in the Brazilian's career. BBC Radio 5 Live F1 commentator David Croft believes Schumacher is coming back because of his close relationship with the Brazilian. "I think he's coming back because it is to replace Felipe Massa, temporarily. He is very close to Felipe, they've had a great relationship over the years," Croft told 5 Live. "I think it's his way of doing something to help Felipe, and doing something to help Ferrari at the same time, because if you look at the alternatives Ferrari had, they weren't really alternatives. "Who else is there who could come into Ferrari and hit the ground running, who knows the car, who knows the team, who could give them a podium? "The European Grand Prix, which was not one we were looking forward to at the start of this year, has now got a real spice to it. "Lewis Hamilton against Michael Schumacher for the first time ever? Jenson Button up against Michael Schumacher? How will Kimi Raikkonen respond? It's going to be fascinating."

July 29, 200915 yr Author I'm flabbergasted. Obviously the 7 times World Champion's ego has got the better of him. I expect a Nigel Mansell 1995 McLaren (when Haikkonen humiliated him performance wise) style lack of success that will tarnish his reputation as Kimi Raikkonen comfortably out qualifies and drives him, when Michael Schumacher would have (did) ground him into the dust at his peak.
July 29, 200915 yr Author Well we all know The Iceman is a huge fan of the German, as evidenced by this just before Michael Schumacher's final ever (or so I thought) Grand Prix in Brazil 2006:
August 11, 200915 yr Maranello, 11th August 2009 - With Michael Schumacher now being unavailable to stand in for Felipe Massa, as from the forthcoming European Grand Prix, Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro announces that car number 3 will be driven by Luca Badoer. "I am very unhappy that a problem means that Michael cannot return to racing," commented Luca di Montezemolo. "In the past few days, I could appreciate his great efforts and extraordinary motivation which had spread through the team and fans around the world. No doubt his return would have been good for Formula 1 and I am sure it would have seen him fighting for wins again. In the name of Ferrari and all the fans, I wish to thank him for the strong attachment he displayed for the team in these circumstances. In agreement with Stefano Domenicali, we have therefore decided to give Luca Badoer the chance to race for the Scuderia after he has put in so many years of hard work as a test driver." Source This is probably for the best, his neck injury would limit his driving. All the luck for Luca Badoer
August 11, 200915 yr Shame he's not coming back :( I'd rather they let Marc Gene race tbh, cos I've met him :kink:
August 30, 200915 yr OMG I haven't seen bigger cheater than Raikkonen. For me the true winner is Fisichella and the BMWs. Raikkonen can thank his win to KERS and his cheating move at corner 1 at the first lap, where he's gone wide on purpose to overtake at least 2 cars. And of course no one will penalise a Ferrari, will they?
