Well, we've had a final of 29 songs before - I definitely wouldn't want a final of more than 30 songs. It would be ridiculous cutting out 2/3s of the songs for voting...

And Addy, I don't see us ever going back to as few as 24 songs ;)

I know but still 30 is a lot...I prefer how it is right now...27 songs is perfect.

25-28 is perfect in my eyes, but 29 is such an ugly number  If Rich had still hosted it would've been easier, but the odd autoqualification now requires Nick - ah well, it doesn't matter! :P

Old era BJSC kicked ass.

I was actually successful :smoke:

Perhaps because there was less to choose from back then? :smoke:

I kid, I'd have loved to have been in proper old era BJSC, it all seems more fun when you don't have to think about qualifying.

I've been just as successful in both eras I think, but I've flopped more in this one...

Well...put it this way, I think the final this time will be 28/29, rather than the usual 27/28. I want to scale up. If we get 53 people, even a final of 29 would mean we've got rid of 24 entries. It all seems too much. :(

Oh gosh, I didn't think about that. I usually listen to the other semi once, out of interest, but I'm gonna have to give every song at least some attention this month.

I quite often ignore the songs in the other semi, apart from watching the recap vid  I just assume that the best ones will come back eventually in the next Rejects contest

29 is a bit big perhaps but I feel inclined to have a 29 song final if we DO top 50, just so we don't practically chuck out almost the same amount of songs that succeed. I didn't think it would be possible, but I think the contest has got too big for it's boots.

maybe...it wouldn't bother me, it just seems huge for a final...it's an awful lot of songs to whittle down to just 10

I was less obsessed, and there was less pressure to qualify.

i so would have won if you'd have waited 12 more contest

It'll probably start at about 7pm on the 29th and close exactly a week later.

As for your request Tom, I don't think I can allow it. :( Once you've confirmed an entry all of your reservations are dropped. I know it's not your intention, but you could be reserving Annie with no intention of using her, just so no one else does this time. As you're allowed a change, I could unconfirm Nexx for you and you can give me a list of artists to put back in the reserves?

Don't worry about it Dan. I'm pretty happy with Nexx. I don't have the full HQ version of the song I'm thinking of entering by Annie, and I doubt I will within the week, so I'll call her BJSCXVI :)

in VIII we had 3 auto's and 12 from each semi wasn't it!?! (I should remember I hosted it...but I don't :heehee:)

so we could have 8 qualifiers from each of three semis and then the 3 auto's which would be 27/51 (should we get 51 confirmations)...we would still be chucking slightly less than half out

common semis are much fun than being in final all the time.

I've been surprisingly consistent in both eras...my flops are bigger but I also still go top 5 quite a lot :w00t:

It's not all that different from 28 is it? I think semis of 25 is a ridiculous amount.

That would almost be a good idea if it didn't mean the extra task of everyone listening. It'd be a good way of finding the new rejects spin-off winners.

I agree...semis should be as small as possible, we can't have a semi being bigger than a final...

25-28 should be the number we always aim to hit for a final I think, the less finalists, the more incentive for people to send great songs to qualify :o I don't think we should ever top 28 though, the voting would just be impossible

let me know if you find it :o what's the name of it?

edit: look what I found on Wiki about her:

I must look in the producer credits of that BBC show 'Last Choir Standing' and see if it says something like 'format invented by Caroline Af Ugglas' :heehee:
