Posted April 2, 200916 yr Time for this year's edition! :dancing: Albania - Kejsi Tola - Carry Me In Your Dreams (SF2) Well, for the second year running Albania send something ethnic but different to your usual ESC fare, with a dark/brooding manner and sung by a 16 year old girl, earning them the Botanikka Award for Consistency in Entries! :cheer: Anyway, this electro-ethnic slice of gorgeousness is unlikely to do much despite being, well, rather fablox, and tapping into the big genre of 2009 (well, the big genre in the West at least - by the sounds of things it's back to 80s schlock-rock east of the Danube). 'Tis pity, as I don't see this one doing too well west of the Danube vote-wise either... Sounds like: Last year's Albanian entry with synths. Most Likely To: Be performed with an identical stage theme to last year's entry. Least Likely To: Be covered by Lady GaGa. Will Succeed If: The 80s dad-rock obsession in Eastern Europe in just a massive coincidence and they actually do like synths this year. Will Probably: Qualify, but flop. Rating: 8.0/10 - The best Balkan entry this year!
April 2, 200916 yr Author Andorra - Susanne Georgi - La teva decisio (Get A Life) [sF1] This breezy guitar-tinged pop from Danish-born Susanne is quite pleasant but doesn't really go anywhere :( It also suffers from its 'get a life' parts which bring back horrid memories of Austria's entry in 2007, which was quite frankly just painful. Nice catchy chorus from Andorra though! Sounds like: Something FSR Farahtyn might send to the BJSC. Most likely to: Get points from Denmark and Spain BUT NOBODY ELSE. Least likely to: Be remembered by the end. Will succeed if: Juries haven't changed at all since 1997. Will probably: Do the decent Andorran thing and finish 16th, with a Barbara Dex Award to boot. Rating: 7.2/10
April 2, 200916 yr Absolutely agree with you on Albania. Gorgeous song. Andorra: hmmm... i REALLY liked the song at the beginning but then they changed the version into the one we can hear now -_- My love hasn't gone back since. Maybe after the live performance.... Oh and Austria 2007 was f00king GREAT! :(
April 2, 200916 yr Andorra - Susanne Georgi - La teva decisio (Get A Life) [sF1] Sounds like: Something FSR Farahtyn might send to the BJSC. disgusting, how can you suggest this? it hasn't peaked at No.48 in the UK charts and appeared in bargain bins across the country two weeks later yet :kink:
April 6, 200916 yr Absolutely agree with you on Albania. Gorgeous song. Andorra: hmmm... i REALLY liked the song at the beginning but then they changed the version into the one we can hear now -_- My love hasn't gone back since. Maybe after the live performance.... Oh and Austria 2007 was f00king GREAT! :( Andorra's song is nice though it is not so great but it is not disgusting. Hope she makes it through the FINAL!
April 7, 200916 yr Albania came on shuffle the other day, and I suddenly realised how great it is - how had I missed that one?! It's great, hope it doesn't flop
April 7, 200916 yr I really like Andorra. It's such a nice song, but I'm not sure how it will do on the night. I hope it gets through. :cheer:
April 14, 200916 yr Author I've actually written these all out, but will write them up when I have more time...
April 14, 200916 yr disgusting, how can you suggest this? it hasn't peaked at No.48 in the UK charts and appeared in bargain bins across the country two weeks later yet :kink: OI! Jenny Frost = the sex!
April 16, 200916 yr I wanna see who has the Ashtonise prize for most likely to get good odds and finish low :kink:
April 16, 200916 yr I wanna see who has the Ashtonise prize for most likely to get good odds and finish low :kink: France :P
April 16, 200916 yr I'm rather surprised at their good odds, it's an alright song but certainly nowhere near memorable enough to challenge for the win
April 16, 200916 yr I forgot to add '...seeing as Divine, their 2008 entry, is one of the most fantastic Eurovision entries ever and still came in the bottom ten' :(
