May 29, 200916 yr What an absolute bloody joke. Im with Jack - how the f*** is she courageous for breaking down in tears on Live TV ffs? If she cant cope with the pressure in the semi f*** knows what's going to happen tomorrow. My first thoughts were also a Cowell setup, but I dont think even he could make a little girl cry like that.. Saying that, however, Greg was SHOCKINGLY bad. DCD Seniors ftw.
May 29, 200916 yr I didn't like that all girl and 1 bloke dance act. I got bored watching them. They're the type of act that you'd more likely to get up off the sofa and finish the dishes or make a cuppa and by the time they are finished you're ready to watch the next one :)
May 29, 200916 yr Oh let's face it ... apart from Aiden they were all cr ap! So does it matter who came second? Norma
May 29, 200916 yr To be honest the moment of the night was Amanda Holden saying 'I'm going to climax tonight'
May 29, 200916 yr Nope. Natalie wanted to perform a Des'ree song but the producers said no and gave her Jamelia's Superstar, possibly knowing beforehand that Simon hated the song. She was far more mature than Hollie was tonight Oh yes, I heard that: BGT's Natalie: "I was given the wrong song" Little Natalie Okri branded Simon Cowell a "meanie" after being axed by judges on Britain's Got Talent. The cute 10-year-old broke down in tears at the end of the show's first semi-final on Sunday night. Now, the brave school girl has blamed the show makers for picking the wrong song, saying, "I wanted to sing You've Gotta Be by Des'ree, but the producers told me I wasn't allowed. I hated the song I sang (Superstar), it didn't let me show how good my voice is. I agreed with Simon when he said it was the wrong song for me, although I still think he's a big meanie for voting against me." And it's not only Natalie that's unhappy with the result, her proud mum said, "The songs that Natalie wanted to sing were dismissed by the producers and we, without knowing better, gave in to their demands." "You Gotta Be" would have been so much better for her as it would have shown off her soulful voice, rather than the pure Pop that is "Superstar". I think it's quite bad that the producers can be so forceful over something like song choices. Perhaps they didn't have the rights to Des'ree, but I bet it was more to do with the song not being as recognisable as something like "Superstar". <_< Yea I'm not really that fussed either lol. I'll not loose any sleep. SuBo's the only one I feel I know anything about. The rest feel insignifigant to me now! Same, I wouldn't mind Stavros F. hot sax man winning either :) I expect that's because she's been plastered all over the TV, Newspapers etc. much more than the others. Every day it's "Susan Boyle swears at a TV", "Susan Boyle threatens to quit" in the tabloids and even on ITV News. She's gotta be on of the most overhyped reality show contestants ever, it's kinda unfair to the rest of the participants. I almost feel like voting for whoever is second favourite so she doesn't win. -_- But, interestingly, I've just seen some odds that are making me wonder about her: Gender Of Winner View all odds Male (8/11), Female (1) Susan Boyle Winner View all odds No (3/4), Yes (24/19) (though she is still, currently, hot favourite to win)
May 29, 200916 yr To be honest the moment of the night was Amanda Holden saying 'I'm going to climax tonight' Almost agree, but it was the "vag-a-voom" that got me :kink:
May 29, 200916 yr I'll be voting for 2 Grand, as they are the only finalists who don't seem to have any training or experience, which is really what this competition is about
May 29, 200916 yr The thing that is so annoying is that one of the dance acts should win. I'd be quite happy if Diversity, Flawless or Aiden won (especially Diversity). But I've a feeling that the dancing vote will just be split so much that one of the less deserving singers will do it! And although I liked Susan Boyle to begin with ... and she does have a 'nice' voice ... I'm inclined to agree with Lily Allen on her merits (and I don't always agree with Lily Allen). Norma Well of course the public school educated Lily Allen knows far more about vocal talent (via her fake mockney love child of Ian Dury vocals) than Andrew Lloyd Webber doesn't she (after what ALW said tonight praising "The Boyle"), remember he slaughtered Leon Jackson, saying it was a travesty that Rhydian Roberts did not win XF 2007, and was not complimentary about the XF winner of 2008 either calling her singing (rightly IMHO) "perfunctary". Quite frankly I don't care who wins so long as it is not the Simon Cowell/Max Clifford "chosen one" Shaheen. (The media coverage in the tabloids (thanks to Max Clifford) to destroy Susan Boyle is a national disgrace IMHO; like they did to the one time heavy favourite to win X-Factor 2008 Diana Vickers). For the record I hope Diversity wins. Aidan is just a static George Sampson IMHO. Lets face facts if Shaheen wins it, then next year can we expect Wayne Rooney to appear to dazzle us with his footballing skills, because that is exactly what Shaheen (star of the Thriller musical as the young Michael Jackson is. (i.e."a ringer"); just as X-Factor 2008 winner Alexandra Burke (who's mum was best mates with Sinitta and co-starred in the musical Tahiti, and Alexandra Burke was part of the London Gospel Choir who performed backing the X-Factor 2007 Leon Jackson on stage, who's finale to their concerts including at Glastobury 2008 (which she performed at with the LGC) was the Leonard Cohen song made famous by Jeff Buckley "Hallelujah"). Latest Betfair Odds: Susan Boyle 11/5 (to think she was an unstoppable 4/7 on two days ago) Aidan Davis 7/2 Shaheen 9/2 Flawless 12/1 Stavros Flatley 12/1 Diversity 16/1 Julian Smith 20/1 Hollie Steel 33/1 Shaun Smith 50/1 2 Grand 100/1
May 29, 200916 yr LOVED Aiden tonight, all about him and Diversity for me this year :D I completely thought the whole Holly thing was very fake. However I cried :( LMAO. A little girl on that big stage in front of millions crying, it was seriously heartbreaking. It does prove something - Children should not be allowed on this show! Im pretty sure there are going to be many complaints and the entry age will be put up next year!

Im pretty sure there are going to be many complaints and the entry age will be put up next year! I totally agree. The BBC had the right idea with a talent show for children back in the late 1990s "The Big Big Talent Show" hosted by Jonathan Ross. It was won by Charlotte Church; future S Club 7 member Jon Lee was 2nd; and Alexandra Burke was 4th. A great show. To compare adults with child stars in morally wrong on every level IMHO.
May 30, 200916 yr Agree 100%. Isn't there like a Children's Royal Variety Performance? They should get under-16s (or 14s, whatever) to compete for a place like that and not up against adults for the big thing... it's just eben crying children every day, it's not good. It was won by Charlotte Church; future S Club 7 member Jon Lee was 2nd; and Alexandra Burke was 4th. Really? :o Didn't know. Is there videos out there?

May 30, 200916 yr Aiden Davis - I don't get all the love for this kid here at all. He only managed one dance move different to that of his audition and you can sure as hell bet that the visual effects were not of his own brainchild. Hollie Steel - Second chance? No-one else would get that opportunity and she'd already failed three times with her diction in the first performance before the "tears". It all went to prove that she was not "ready" to progress and should not have been given another chance. Greg Pritchard - the lower end of his falsetto scale failed to the point of being painful to listen to...excepting that, he did pretty well Good Evans - Piers buzzed when the adults started singing, it should have been prior to that when the two young girls started singing woefully out of tune...after that it actually improved DCD Seniors - one of the best of the night, but nowhere near as good as Diversity or Flawless; a few of them lost their timing during the act and their initial costumes were hideous. The Dreambears - good fun, but Simon was right, it was a bit clumsy...as if they hadn't rehearsed enough...or were too nervous. Martin "Gos" Matcham - he sang better this time (except for some dodgy microphone control at the start) and the guitar solo was ok...the backing performers were the worst of the lot! Luke Clements - I guess he thought the melon-thing would be humourous to start with...but it wasn't! Then it was the same apple trick as his audition followed by the same old fire-juggling that I've seen many times before.
May 30, 200916 yr What a crock of $h!t the Hollie thing was  I LMFAO at how obvious it was, she wasn't even crying, just screwing her face up. My suspicions are one of two: 1) 'Stage Mom' told her to cry to make everyone feel sorry for her 2) It was a Cowell set-up to make him look like a hero. 'The producers say there isn't time' = bull$h!t. Syco is Simon's company, obviously he has the overall say and is the producers' boss. Either way, it proves, as someone has already said, that under 16s shouldn't in this environment, performing to 12+million people, they just can't cope. To be fair, I'd have cried if I was her ... 10 year old or not, she sounded f***ing dreadful. How's she supposed to have a cat in hell's chance of getting through the Royal Variety if she can't even get it together for this?

The difficult thing is that some under 16s would be ready for this, it just depends on their level of maturity. Trouble is, how do you measure that...force them all to undergo a psychiatric assessment before the live shows?

Trouble is, how do you measure that...force them all to undergo a psychiatric assessment before the live shows? Or don't risk it. If they're good enough at 14, they'll still be good at 16. And I do of course mean the Britain's Got Talent 'entering age', not fame in general. If a kid is signed into a record label, for instance, at 14, it's probably gonna be nearly their 16th birthday by the time the record comes out (of course there are exceptions, e.g. JoJo/Miley). Let's face it, Hollie is only there to make Simon a Connie-Fisher$$$.

As for "if they're good enough at 14, they'll still be good at 16" - whilst that's not strictly true...(they won't necessarily be as good at 16)...a lot of the parents of these child prodigies think that their kids ARE good enough now...(almost certainly not through their own greed), but in a sadly misplaced belief that the "rest of the world" will agree instantaneously and presumably because they think that their children will be able to perform "perfectly" under any circumstances.
May 30, 200916 yr As for "if they're good enough at 14, they'll still be good at 16" - whilst that's not strictly true...(they won't necessarily be as good at 16) Then they don't deserve a record deal/to win IMO... lol!
May 30, 200916 yr Then they don't deserve a record deal/to win IMO... lol! Ah - but think of the two years' extra profit Simon Cowell could lose out on! ;)
