Forget Will Young or Hear'say this Scottish pop diva became the UK's first TV Reality singer eventually having far greater success in the USA during the 1980s than in her native UK.

Some Other Key Songs:

For Your Eyes Only (1981 UK#8 USA#4)

Sugar Walls (1985 USA#9)

U Got The Look (duet with Prince) (1987 UK#11 USA#2)

The Lover In Me (1989 UK#15 USA#2)

Where any of you fans of this Scottish 1980s Pop Diva or did you wish Esther Rantzen never discovered her via "The Big Time"?

Lover In Me (and the whole album) was amazing, don't really care for her other material though. Ironically the urban sound she had with that album in particular was ace. (Babyface, LA Reid, Prince, Angela Winbush, etc) went to town production wise with that album.

Not that she had any credibility in the first place, but when she eventually returned to Scotland she had a fake American Accent, she was ridiculed in the Scottish Press. She deserved it to.

"Machinery" is a good song, but on the whole not a particularly great artist.

John Peel liked her though :D
