Have you listened to "Today, We Are All Demons" yet....? :)

They are indeed a bloody good live band, I've seen them in London about three times, and am going to see them again at the end of May in Islington....

Lead singer Andy has a side project on the go as well - Panzer AG, which is a bit more Industrial Rock... And his original band Icon of Coil are making a comeback as well later this year... He's one hell of a busy bloke.....

yeah you gave me the link for Today, We Are All Demons a while ago, given it a few listens, one of my favs this year i think, i may have to check out some older albums.

I wouldn't bother with "What the Fukk is Wrong with You People", it's rather patchy, and they admit themselves that it was a bit cr@p.... Some good indidivual tracks on it like "Electrohead", "Get Your Body Beat" and "Shut up and Swallow", but apart from those, not too great..... "Everybody Hates You" is a damn good album, and "Joy of Gunz" is just pure, spiteful, nasty NOIZE.....

The two Panzer AG albums are good - "Your World is Burning" is prob the one you should start off with, then go with "This is My Battlefield"... There are some VERY Trent/MM moments in both of these albums....

Then after that, I'd go on to stuff like Suicide Commando, Hocico, VNV Nation, Grendel, God Module, Wumpscut, and, if you're feeling brave, Terrorfakt or Whitehouse.....

BTW, your sig looks rather ominous, is Trent really calling it a day after this tour.....? I'd assumed he was maybe just taking a sabbatical for a few years like he used to between albums (I mean, it was almost 6 years between The Fragile and With Teeth....).

Random updates...

Mew added on tour.nin.com, in a recent fan interview Trent has said he isnt playing 'Closer' this year and will be playing 'Lights In The Sky'.

Thank fukk for that.... I've grown to absolutely detest that song tbh..... Frankly, I wouldn't be all that bothered if he left off "Head Like a Hole", "Sin" or "March of the Pigs" or "We're In This Together" either, I kind of want to hear NIN stuff that doesn't get played all that often if this is indeed the last shows he ever does.... There's a lot of good stuff on "Year Zero" which Trent all but ignored playing the last time I saw NIN, the only track off of Year Zero he played was "Survivalism", I'd love to hear "My Violent Heart" tbh... Wouldn't mind hearing a few off of "The Slip" either.....

So, yeah dude, I'm all for him killiing a few sacred cows..... But he cant leave out "Hurt".... NO way......

Janes's Addiction 7.45 - 9.15

Mew 7.00 - 7.30

according to seetickets thats our set times, i'd perfer it if NIN had 2hours and JA had 1hour tbh, but what can you do, im not complaining about JA its just last time we will see NIN, also NIN are better and also NIN have a lot more songs than JA

The curse of the 11pm curfew seems to be everywhere you look..... I'd be happy if NIN played til Midnight tbh.... But, of course, people have to get their last tubes home.... London, "24 Hour City" eh.....?

yeah tbh the earlier it ends the better for me so i can jump on the train back to Reading, but i wouldnt complain if they played all night!!!

i do think they should get longer than Janes though as it isnt a NIN|JA date, this is a NIN show with Janes supporting.

Oh LORD, you have to get back to Reading.... My advice is, dont bother with the tubes getting back to Waterloo after the gig, apparently they close off the station for gigs at 02 because of crowding problems.... Take the boat instead, it goes all the way down to Waterloo dock...

i'll be going from Paddington.

  • 3 weeks later...

I have 2 standing tickets for the O2 gig aswell!!!

I'll be travelling above 1250 miles or 2000 km JUST for that concert. but this will be a dream come true for me, after wanting to see them for more than a decade!

Cannot wait!

:o another NIN freak, you should post here more often!

I really should! :)

I went through the setlist you posted and although I quite like them they seem to lack Year Zero material which is a shame IMO. I would love to hear some of the songs of that album live (especially The Great Destroyer and In This Twilight). Do you think they are going to use different setlist for every show?

they are using different setlists every show, but a lot of tracks reoccur a lot.

i check the setlists here: http://www.setlist.fm/search?query=nine+inch+nails

they have been playing Heresy, Mr Self Destruct, I Do Not Want This and The Day The Whole World Went Away, which is good for me :D

That's a cool website right there.

So they basically played In This Twilight and The Begining of the End a few times this year so I can still hope :)

Have started listening to NIN lately.

Tried listening to Hurt, Everyday is Exactly The Same, Suck and Mr Self Destruct (:heehee:).

Not sure though where to start, I was thinking of listening to the Year Zero album first.

WELL, the most popular album is, 'The Downward Spiral', the album that got me into them was 'With Teeth', so i reckon they might be the most accesible, but personally my favourite is 'Pretty Hate Machine' (and i believe that is Grim's fav too :P)

Year Zero is not for the novice fan.... Like "Ghosts", It's for the more hardcore NIN fan or "Rivethead" (ie, Industrial Fans) whose into stuff like Skinny Puppy, Frontline Assembly, Ministry, Front 242 or Suicide Commando.....

"Pretty Hate Machine" is a perfect album, imo, there's nothing on it that's anything less than excellent, and quite often PHM is utterly astounding... Not only my favourite NIN album, but one of the greatest albums ever, by any artist, imo.....
