On the point that this is chavvy - What do you hear when you are on the top deck of a bus in Preston blasting out from some girl's nokia who has her hair slicked back with two ringlets at the front? Shit like this.

On my other point - people are making these outlandish comments that the UK doesn't understand this kind of music. What is there to understand?? That pizzicato strings and 90s dance beats aren't cheesy and tacky as fuck?

When was the last time you were on a bus in Preston? I didn't know there was one in Portugal.

Anyway, this, the original version at least, is not half as chavvy as Tinchy Stryder, Dizzee Rascal, N-Dubz... I could go on... Bottom line is, this is too good to be bought by the masses.

I think this is chavvy. Songs like 'Number One', 'Boom Boom Pow' and 'Bonkers' are arguably chavvy but their greatness has crossed over to the mainstream to have mass appeal. This is probably more the other way, 'Release Me' is definitely going to be big with chavs, especially chavettes. Eurodance always is.

Personally I think it's not good enough to be a huge hit. I'd no idea why this won BJSC. As someone who doesn't particularly like the genre it's from it just struck me as a song that people who liked that type of music would love, and people who didn't wouldn't catch on because there's nothing different enough to make it stand out. It's possibly too 'classy', there's no gimmick, it's not overly catchy and it's not trashy. It's much better than 'In the Heat of the Night', but Star Pilots will be a bigger hit, because it's got more going for in tems of crossover appeal.

I don't think it's at all chavvy, it's just a pop song...

Agreed. Nothing chavvy about it at all.

What does Chav mean ?

I hope top 10 but realistically top 40

Chav is gangsta in UK, but they don't use guns or say 'mothaf***a' like 50 Cent. :heehee:

When we talk about "chav music", we talk about people rapping with grime music or urban music.

Try listening to 'Number 1' by Tinchy Stryder and any of N-Dubz's songs ('Ouch', 'Better Not Waste My Time' and 'Strong Again'). ;)

EDIT: You can't say chav to a female though (Lady Sovereign, Missy Elliot, etc.)

Chavs also like Eurodance though, Cascada are probably THE most popular act with chavs (and chavettes especially) in recent times. They don't just like rap... And all decent urban songs crossover anyway.

I guess If I lived in the UK I'd be a chav sort of ..I just love music all together . Rap is probably my least favorite genre but I kind of like the N-DUBz stuff actually...so I guess it would commercial dance music . Its so funny dance in the US is only starting to make a come back , we have a ton of electro tinged stuff on our pop charts with faster bpms

I would consider Agnes more pop house .

Her other single "On and On " is very eurodance

Really? Which dance songs are popular right now there?

You must be joking.. I dont think this song is chavy at all :o You would compare this with Dizee Rascal and NDubz etc?

I think it will and should make it to the top 10.. Been waiting for this to release for ages now.. lol

Has anyone seen the video?

She even looks chavvy imo! Especially towards the end...

Absolutely hate this song at the moment...really hope it flops! It seems to be getting a fair bit of videoplay and airplay though, so it looks doubtful! :(

This is not chavvy AT ALL!!! In fact I think it's quite a classy song. I don't think chavs would get this song.
^^ Well I'd say it's far chavvier than 'Boom Boom Pow', which a lot of people seem to be branding chavvy at the moment.
Nah, id consider Boom Boom Pow a lot more chavier than Realese Me personally.
