June 20, 200619 yr OMG Nelly would have been only No.3-dloads are her saviour...bad news for Clea and Shakira though...
June 20, 200619 yr Grrrrrr downloads SUCK and I still don't see the point of that annoying rule allowing songs to enter a week earlier than their physical release  and unlucky for Shakira too. :( And Clea!
June 20, 200619 yr Author what were their sales? No sales for this lot unfortunately, it would have been great if they did
June 20, 200619 yr Clea's fans are raging over this  As far as they're concerned it's Top 30
June 20, 200619 yr I'm glad downloads are added now. For one thing we don't have Sandi Thom at number one, Nelly Furtado and Automatic are doing much better, t***** Minogue's song has done worse and Clea, surely scaping the barrel for these bubblegum miming reality TV dancing bands, have failed to make the top 40.
June 20, 200619 yr I find it weird that Gnarls Barkley are in both the Physical and Downloads charts but not the combined chart.
June 20, 200619 yr Author I find it weird that Gnarls Barkley are in both the Physical and Downloads charts but not the combined chart. That's what I thought when I saw the chart, it seems the single is still selling,
June 21, 200619 yr i h8 downloads. the whole download thing was the final nail in the coffin of pop. pops gonna struggle more and more now. downloads count for almost 50% of sales now dont they? didnt they rise dramatically after they became more relevant with in the charts? thanks again scott x
June 21, 200619 yr I love what downloads have done to the chart, a hit is only a hit now if it deserves it. Look at Clea, Top 30 without downloads yet NO ONE has heard the song  The downloads have made it a lot slower and less predictable, if they allowed all downloads to count the chart would be in it's best state for years.

As they account for half of all sales, you can't just ignore them!
June 21, 200619 yr they've only become relevant b cos they count 2ards the chart. the only ppl they help are indie acts! its stupid. pop was dying anyway and the charts company are helping it die now. the only pop artists around are ppl who have been around for years and even they r begining 2 fall now. its so so sad love yas x

Their singles aren't put on legal download sites as much as acts on major labels so they aren't really represented fairly. It's a similar reason to why dance acts do worse on the combined chart than the physicals only one. That's why there was a month long delay for getting downloads included in the main chart, as independent labels guessed their products would suffer lower chart positions. They're going to have to sort that out themselves I guess. The ones who do best out of downloads are big urban acts and pop-rock acts on major labels. Anyway, the combined chart is a much more acurate reflection of what people are buying and liking, and I also think all download sales big enough to make the chart should do.
