I posted this in December on Suganet, so it's a bit old news .. but Sugatime posted it last week so it's new news haha ? eh? :P

Well, I HOPE that this is not the date, I want the babes to come back in 2010! in april.

Don't underestimate Island.

They quite obviously want the album out for the same time as last year.

IMO they need to appear to have taken time off, October is too early, and is tied in with this crappy album a year approach.

Early 2010 would be the best time to release imo, less competition, more time to record, better quality as it isn't rushed, less pressure on the girls, more time away would build up more of an anticipation.

They could put out a early december single, a big uptempo number, then fire one out late feb with the album following a week or two after.

Get two guaranteed big singles then people know what to expect from the album and are more likely to buy it after a flop album.

Basically what they did when they first joined Island

October 2010 maybe but not this year

for a moment i thought we were in 08

How ridicolously early can a thread be LOL?

I agree! theres nothing to talk about

Well tbh they have what another 6 months of writing, should be fine, all summer ^_^
No tour, no more singles this era, and they're already back working on the new one so they have much more time even with a release this year than the two months catfights had
They've got more than double the time to make this than they had for Catfights. Time isn't a problem. It's just whether the public needs a break from them. Personally I feel it doesn't matter as long as the comeback single is 'wow'.

Agree Jark. I think the public is getting a break from them right now in effect. But if they wait 2-3 years they'll just cease to be relevant. I don't think the Sugababes (or almost any band normally) is so ubiquitous that the public actually "need a break" from them.

I mean, the press has already stopped chattering about them so much, has anyone else noticed? GA are still getting a lot of coverage, and in an article about one of the two bands the other is inevitably mentioned, but thats not even been happening recently. GA are being asked about the Saturdays being their biggest rivals as their profile continues to rise, and the babes aren't even mentioned any more.

There is serious consumer/media/critical apathy towards the babes. I know they are accused every era of having lost "their edge", that separated them from other girl bands and make them cooler, but i do think that is something they need to get back with this new album. It sounds like they're going about it the right way to me, but they have already passed the shelf life of any normal pop (particularly female) group, so hopefully they're not just flogging a dead horse.

I mean, i'd buy the album release week supposing they were reciting Haikus as their new sound, but just how many of the general public or even fans can say the same? (It seems a number of fans were put off C&S by Girls and then just refused to buy it as it was flopping; self-fulfilling prophecy isn't it )

I agree with this completely. I think no matter what the babes put out i will support them and buy their albums and singles on release week.

One more thing i think with the first single off this new album the need to release digitally and physically on the same week with the download maybe out on the Saturday/Sunday before. Then it would have a better chance of #1.

And i know people are going to say that it doesn't matter about the peak but if it's #1 it creates a buzz about the song so more people will buy it.

Thats bull$h!te.

If the song is good then the song will sell. If the song is a steaming turd then it won't.

Just because a song reaches #1 doesn't make it good. Look at 'The Promise' for example, quite possibly the worst song i have ever heard. Utterly $h!te release from an album that should have been titled Ear Rape instead of OOC.

Yet it made #1 has sold well and so has the album. Bob the freaking Builder made #1 ffs. Sales matter, not position. A #1 could sell 150k (like HITH did) but a #5 could sell 300k over its run. Which is better? The position or the sales?

To the record label - Sales, Poor sales no matter what the chart position will get an act dropped.

Look at Sweet About Me sold 250k(ish) barely broke into the top 10, yet it had quite a buzz about it.

i meant to say it creates more buzz not all of the buzz.

And why is it when i say what i think, i always get raped. Can't people just get their point across without being aggressive.

I agree! theres nothing to talk about

I am surprised someone already hasn't claimed that they have a "friend at the record company" and they have inside info on what the first single will be, when the video will be shot, and who is the director. LMAO

i think the song will be called.... Lost In Time

and the album... Landed Hearts
