sugababes needs to up their game to hold on their title for UK's most successful female act!

GA are way ahead with everything at the moment. as harsh as it sounds, they are the currents favourite girld band.

they are only ahead in Single sales, in Albums the babes are way ahead and they are ahead in Total sales.

I think the babes should release the first song early/mid November and they need to get a performance on a TV show that has 8mill+ . They could do X-Factor (it would be cool if they'd have their own week), Strictly Come Dancing again and maybe their own show like GA did and the last bit of promo on Jools Hollands annual Hootenanny (which will earn some Kudos as mostly cool artists go on that).

Release the album 1 or 2 weeks after.

Then a Late January/Early February release for the second song (a nice ballad) with a performance on Dancing On Ice and maybe if it's on Ant and Dec Takeaway, maybe on an Lloyd Webber program if their is one.

Third release would be a mid tempo song released late April.

Fourth would be a Summer smash released in Mid July.

On all releases the songs should be released digitally Sat/Sun.

In late November/ Early December that year release something for the 10th anniversary.

Then comeback with the next album in 2011.

Nice nice nice :D.

I just hope that Sugababes won't split up after 2010 (after the next album).

I agree with this completely. I think no matter what the babes put out i will support them and buy their albums and singles on release week.

One more thing i think with the first single off this new album the need to release digitally and physically on the same week with the download maybe out on the Saturday/Sunday before. Then it would have a better chance of #1.

And i know people are going to say that it doesn't matter about the peak but if it's #1 it creates a buzz about the song so more people will buy it.

Thats bull$h!te.

If the song is good then the song will sell. If the song is a steaming turd then it won't.

Just because a song reaches #1 doesn't make it good. Look at 'The Promise' for example, quite possibly the worst song i have ever heard. Utterly $h!te release from an album that should have been titled Ear Rape instead of OOC.

Yet it made #1 has sold well and so has the album. Bob the freaking Builder made #1 ffs. Sales matter, not position. A #1 could sell 150k (like HITH did) but a #5 could sell 300k over its run. Which is better? The position or the sales?

To the record label - Sales, Poor sales no matter what the chart position will get an act dropped.

Look at Sweet About Me sold 250k(ish) barely broke into the top 10, yet it had quite a buzz about it.

Confusingly, i agree with both of you!

No1 does matter, and can create an incredible amount of positive PR, improve airplay, public profile, get them talked about/interviewed again etc. which will lead to improved sales. That's the whole reason the chart was created, to promote music and if no1s didn't matter they wouldn't still be doing it and all us loons wouldn't be arguing over things like whether Girls Aloud have 17 or 20 consecutive top 10s!

Ultimately it is sales that matter to record companies though, and chart position is merely a vehicle for that. Also, if the promise is steaming turd, why did it sell really well as well as making no1? The two aren't mutually exclusive (obviously), being at no1 helped them shift more, and while i can say hand on heart OOC is not their best output to date (though you'd think it was with the plaudits being ladled onto GA at the moment) i don't think its so bad! Other things can create a buzz too though, as you say look at sweet about me.

I think a combined release (like GA did and it really worked) and chalking up another no1 would help cement their comeback, but they absolutely need a scorcher of a tune, no doubt about it ;)

So is this album more urban then? I love AWDF so i'm hoping so, but in a very cutting edge babesy way, as it was back then :)

knowing the sugababes, they wont do a show. its surreal.

girls aloud total sales are rounded near the same as the sugababes.. closer in the time, if girls aloud release a further two singles from their current album with great promotion, their can come very closeo the sugababes in sales wises.

lets hope the babes have a supreme first single like AYN.

they shud come back in october with a realy good single and a wow factor video.promote it on tv shows that people actualy enjoy watching mainly on the weekends.make the download avaliable on a saturday 2 days prior to the phisycal release.that shud make em go 2 no.1.release the album a few weeks later just 4 the hype and that should go 2 no.1 aswell.ga have signed a new contract 2 release 3 more studio albums i hope they spit up b4 then.as much as i hate 2 say it they r at the top now.and hopefully sugababes will bring em down 1nce again.and prove that they r the best and biggest selling female group of the 21st century.love sugababes.
