Possible Lady Gaga Book In The Works?
Lady Gaga, a 23-year-old pop star and New York University dropout, appears to be taking another page from her role model Madonna.

William Morris Endeavor, which represents the singer, is shopping Lady Like, a full-color book that would give Lady Gaga—whose real name is Stefani Germanotta—a springboard similar to Madonna’s 1992 coffee-table tome Sex.

“Lady Like will combine images with lyrics, diary entries, interviews, inspirations and quotes from Gaga’s heroes,” reads the proposal sent to publishers recently by Lady Gaga’s agent, Bill Clegg. “Lady Like will explode with pops, bangs and winks.”

The proposal has been greeted with some skepticism. “She’s dreaming,” says one industry executive, noting how expensive a full-color book would be to produce. But another insider thinks the book could work at the right price. “She’s everywhere,” he says.

Mr. Clegg did not return calls.

• Lady Starlight talks fetish wear and Lady Gaga

Lady Starlight has been on the New York music scene for years, but recently made headlines for her less than discrete attempts at Lady Gaga’s disco stick (not really sure if that’s being used in the right context). We sat with the musical mama and talked fetish wear and the mainstreaming of Gaga.

FI: Out of context fashion is becoming a growing trend amongst the fashion set with fetish wear and extreme fashion pieces making the red carpet. Where should the line be drawn or do you feel we should just let our fashion freak fly free no matter the situation?

LS: It’s always held the opinion that the more inappropriate the outfit, the better. A clear line cannot be drawn, there are unlimited situations that may call for any number of out of context garments…

FI:Lady Gaga, who I’m assuming is a friend, is blowing up on the music scene for her over the top style, do you see her look hitting the mainstream? And if it does, will Gaga go basic?

LS: I would love it if GaGa’s look hit the mainstream. However, I don’t think people could walk down the street in most of her looks…and I’m not referring to possible harassment, I mean physically walk down the street!

Maybe GaGa would go naked if her fashion became mainstream.

FI: Give me 3 Words to Describe “Justin Tranter”

LS: Spray, On, Foundation

f***ing love her wig there! :D

Gaga interview to a Norwegian journalist,

Love her so much

She's such a diva. I'd be terrified interviewing her.

And here's the flipside with her being really sweet:

Martin Kierszenbaum Writes About Working With RedOne and Gaga

I’ve been working in Europe again the last few days and it’s been a fun ride. I came straight from seeing Marilyn Manson in Kansas on the Mayhem tour and, after a quick stop in the office (a few hours) in LA, I headed directly back to the airport and flew to Amsterdam to meet up with RedOne. From there we flew to Ibiza where the super producer hooked up with the one-and-only Lady Gaga to write and record some new songs. The results were downright enthralling and I can’t wait for everybody to hear the new music that will be coming out before the end of the year. From Ibiza, I headed to Stockholm via a brief stop in Madrid. It was kind of a shock to go from sweltering Ibiza to cool Stockholm but, once there, I went into the studio with RedOne and his warm and welcoming writing team of Kee, Billy the Chef and AJ. Novel came later too. They had a full house in the studio with visits from Cat de Luna and Little Boots as well as Destinee and Paris whom I’ve been helping A&R. Kee is also preparing her forthcoming debut solo album.

I’m typing this from Stockholm still where long studio hours haven’t permitted much more than a random meeting with famed director Jonas Ackerlund and a couple of stops at RedOne’s favorite kebab joint. I did, however, get to connect with the manager of Agnes, a new signing to Geffen/Interscope in which I’m involved. Agnes is currently enjoying a big hit in the UK with her soul-drenched club banger “Release Me.”

I also connected with the extraordinary Robyn and super producer Klas Ahlund who gave me a little sneak preview of some new works-in-progress (super sounding). They were kind enough to take me on a beautiful tour of the old town area of Stockholm, which was really enlightening, as well as, uhm … cardiovascular (leisurely strollers, they ain’t). It felt good brisk-walking after that beautiful, traditional Swedish dinner of meatballs and herring to which they treated me (thank you, again, Robyn and Klas).

Logging in more studio time today. Until the next one …

Blog on,

Martin

Why The World is Going Gaga for Lady Gaga

Lady GaGa truly deserves to be considered as the year’s biggest pop sensation.

With her fantastic vocal quality and style, boundless energy and fabulous avant garde costumes, she has undoubtedly created an innovative and enticing act that broke new grounds in pop music and culture.

This new, trend-setting standard has captivated millions around the world, spawning a frenzy of excitement and ecstasy that reached fever pitch with the huge success of her mega-hits, “Just Dance” and “Poker Face.”

With her overnight success, Lady GaGa has evolved into the true embodiment of today’s pop icons who help define pop culture with their authentic and distinct sound and style that reflect the spirit, mood and attitude of the times.

It will be the turn of thousands of local fans to be blown over by the Lady GaGa phenomenon when the sensational pop singer and artist invades Manila during a one-night-only concert on Aug. 11 at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.

To be mounted by Ovation Productions, “Lady GaGa In Manila!” will showcase the incredible and unique singing and theatrical act of the hottest female pop singer to emerge in the international music scene during the past few years.

Even as a child, a career in music and entertainment seemed to be the ultimate destiny of Lady GaGa, who was born 23 years ago in Yonkers, New York as Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta.

She learned piano by ear at the age of four, wrote her first piano ballad at 13, played open mike at New York’s The Bitter End club by night at 14, and at 17 gained early admission to New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she studied music.

At the age of 20, she began working for Interscope Records as a songwriter, creating songs for a number of pop acts such as the Pussycat Dolls.

Later, she entered into a label deal via Streamline/Interscope and was partnered with singer-songwriter Akon who convinced Interscope to sign her to a joint deal with his own label, Kon Live Distribution.

She started performing in New York’s Lower East Side club scene, playing with bands Mackin Pulsifer and SGBand and initially made a name for herself with the infectious dance-pop party song, “Beautiful Dirty Rich,” and wild, theatrical and often tongue-in-cheek “shock art” performances.

She became known by her stage name, Lady GaGa, which she took from the 1984 Queen song, “Radio Gaga.”

Throughout 2007, Lady GaGa collaborated with the Lower East Side rock DJ, go-go dancer and performance artist Lady Starlight in playing gigs at downtown club venues like Mercury Lounge, The Bitter End and Rockwood Music Hall with their live performance art piece, “Lady GaGa and The Starlight Revue.”

After initially focusing on avant-garde, electronic dance music, GaGa ultimately found inspiration for her act in the music of glam rockers David Bowie and Queen and pop singers like Michael Jackson and Madonna.

A certified fashion enthusiast, she established a reputation for her provocative sense of style and her influence on other celebrities.

It was in 2008 when GaGa attained international celebrity status with the release of her debut album, “The Fame,” for which she wrote all of the lyrics and melodies and played most of the synth work.

Described by GaGa as “about how anyone can feel famous,” “The Fame” became a mega-success, topping charts in countries like the United Kingdom and Canada and earning rave reviews from critics.

It spawned the international No. 1 singles, “Just Dance” and “Poker Face,” with “Just Dance” reaching No. 1 in seven countries, including America, where it hit No. 1 in 2009 to become GaGa’s first US No. 1 single.

“Just Dance” was also nominated for “Best Dance Recording” at the 51st Grammy Awards.

“Poker Face,” which reached No. 1 in nearly 20 countries, including almost all major music markets in the world, became GaGa’s second consecutive No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in April, 2009.

GaGa’s first North American tour, “The Fame Ball Tour,” which opened last March 12, 2009, gained wide acclaim among fans who were treated to a more polished version of her critically successful (American music festival) Lollapalooza show in August, 2007 and her Winter Music Conference performance in March, 2008.

GaGa won the Best International Artist Video awards for the music video to “Poker Face” during the recent 2009 MuchMusic Video Awards, where she also performed.

Other nominations and awards she received were: Nomination for Best Video for “Poker Face” from MTV Australia Award, nomination for herself for Best Breakthrough from MTV Australia, and nomination for People’s Choice: Favorite International Video from MuchMusic Video Award.

“Lady GaGa In Manila!” is presented by Smart Buddy and co-presented by Subaru in cooperation with Converse, Maldita and San Mig Light.

The Big Picture: Lady GaGa

http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/7644/psdpost1.jpg

I’ve not interviewed many celebrities in my life. But so far, from my experience, and you may already know this – there are 2 extremes. One, the ultimate diva. The other, the really nice friendly media darling who obilges at every question and request. But the latter, I find, is not always the best. Nice doesn’t always translate to honesty, sincerity and most importantly genuineness.

Lady GaGa is in a class of her own. She’s confident, careful with her words but very expressive and honest. She’s either a polished celebrity or a very genuine artist. For one thing, she came across as someone who’s really into music and art. She knows exactly what avant-garde is and uses it in her clothes and music. I also came to realize that her OTT outfits are her second skin, not a stage persona – a point she stressed quite a bit during our 30-minute conversation. Call her an attention-seeker if you want, she doesn’t care, that’s the vibe I gather. For now, she says she’s “all about the music” and is not in it to buy a “beach house” She’s only 23, I hope she stays this way, because I actually do enjoy her music.

Here are some things said during our interview which didn’t make it on-air.

1. She went to a dentist in Singapore to clean her teeth. That came out when I asked her where else she visited during her short stay in Singapore. She also went to an Irish pub. She’s not sure of the name but she did say she loves Irish pubs in general.

2. She has over 5000 songs in her iPod. She says she listens to Neil Young when she’s sad; her own songs when she’s happy, and something called “Muzak” or “elevator music” in her own words, to fall asleep.

3. She designs the clothes she wears according to abstract shapes. She says she likes the clothes on her to actually have an outline of shapes.

4. She was evasive when I asked her how long it takes her to get dressed. “It depends” she says. But she did say she can put on a wig, red lipstick and she’s ready to go.

5. She paused for like a good minute with a cheeky smile when I asked her what’s her favourite “gadget” Her answer in the end was “disco stick”

6. And finally one for the album. We posed GaGa style.

Lady GaGa And Her Manager Comment On Hermaphrodite Rumors

http://i25.tinypic.com/iz9g7d.jpg

This week the Internet was bombarded with the rumors that Lady GaGa is a hermaphrodite. The reason was a video filmed at the Glastonbury festival and a fake interview.

ABC News asked Lady GaGa's manager if the "Poker Face" singer is really a hermaphrodite. His reply: "This is completely ridiculous."

Today Lady GaGa herself made a sarcastic twitter update saying: "The show was so good I might have to go home and suck my own hermie dick".
GaGa on Billboard Magazine

http://i25.tinypic.com/30w2n4m.jpg

Sprawled on her bed in an Amsterdam hotel, Lady GaGa is channeling Lady Godiva-sans the horse. While the 23-year-old has famously worn everything from Kermit the Frog to a hat made to resemble the solar system, today she's rocking the one constant in her ever shifting wardrobe-underpants. And nothing more.

But despite her dominance on the Billboard Hot 100 and bleached blonde hair, GaGa is not the average pop tart. She's an accomplished songwriter and performer who seems to have come out of nowhere, bursting from the corner of Ludlow and Rivington fully formed and fabulous. In conversation, she's chatty and articulate, but gives off the distinct sense she's 10 steps ahead of everyone else-while the Internet is still buzzing about the lampshade she wore over her face in a TV interview, she's plotting her next move.

Of course, if she invests wisely, she may never need to work again: Her debut album, "The Fame," which was released on Interscope, has sold nearly 1.3 million copies, and her biggest digital single, "Just Dance," has sold 4.4 million copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. In addition to writing all the tracks on her album, GaGa has previously written for Fergie, the Pussycat Dolls, Britney Spears and New Kids on the Block.

"Getting into writing for others happened naturally, because at the time, I didn't have a record deal," GaGa says. "I had a deal with IDJ that came and went, but that was it. I don't have an ego about other people singing my songs."

Chris Daughtry has taken to covering Lady GaGa's "Poker Face," as he told Billboard.com in a recent video interview.
And-as surprising as it may seem amid her outre outfits and the nudge-nudge-wink-wink lyrics-GaGa's path from behind-the-scenes songwriter to cultural phenomenon was a smart, regimented plan. Before she was Lady GaGa, she was Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, an Italian Catholic schoolgirl from Yonkers, N.Y. She played piano and studied music as a child, but it wasn't until she hit her early 20s that her songwriting and performance style clicked. l "She wrote almost all her hits in a week," says Vince Herbert, who signed GaGa to his Streamline Records label, a joint venture with Interscope. "She flew to L.A. and sat in a studio with RedOne and just cranked it out."

That was a great interview. She looked stunning too with the hat. :)
